Abstract

For Javanese, ‘Slametan,’ the tradition of the dead, is a culture rooted in Javanese lives. This could be a challenge for those who became Christians because the tradition is not according to the Biblical principles regarding the condition of the dead. Therefore, this study aims to find a method that can link Javanese culture and Biblical principles so that there will be no distortion in social life and evangelistic efforts to preach the love of Jesus. A qualitative method is used in this study where observations and literature study collect data through books and journals related to the issues. So, as a result, the contextualization of consolation based on I Corinthians 9:20, the principle of “alike”, will be a method to eliminate the distortions by performing consolation service on the days when the Javanese practice the slametan tradition.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the congregation's understanding of the concept of marriage and to see the potential for divorce. The method used is a survey using a questionnaire. The research subjects were the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Putra Agung Congregation Jl. Karang Asem IV No. 6 Surabaya. The selected respondents were adult congregations, totalling 177 people. The sampling technique used was a quota sampling of 50% of the total adult congregations. The data were analyzed by making claims on the tendency of respondents' answers. The results show that the congregation's understanding of marriage is by Christian teachings, which highly respect marriage and reject divorce. However, the potential for divorce is still there, as seen from the small number of respondents who do not dare to ensure that they will not divorce if there are problems in the household.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the importance of pastoral care for church youth who are addicted to online games. The method used is a survey with data collection techniques using a questionnaire with non-probability sampling. The number of questionnaires was collected from 66 respondents among the 130 congregations. The research subjects were the Pioneer Tompaso Seventh-day Adventist Church in Jl. Pemuda Desa Kamanga 2, Tompaso District, Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province. The data were analyzed according to the five respondents' preferences for the answers to the questionnaire, ranging from strongly agree to strongly disagree. The results show that 75.8% agree and strongly agree that online games have a terrible impact on their future, and 71.4% want to get rid of online game addiction. The results also show that 62.1% of respondents need pastoral assistance and trust the pastor's guidance and advice.

Abstract

Abstract: Covid-19 is a disease outbreak with terrible effects, where it can cause death. In this case the body will form an immune system to fight the incoming virus. One thing that will affect the immune system is anxiety. So the focus and purpose of the researcher is to show the relationship between anxiety and covid-19 based on the quote of the Lord Jesus in Luke. 21:26. A qualitative method with literature study and hermeneutics will be used in this paper. As a result, fear and anxiety are currently being experienced by everyone because of the covid-19 pandemic which can be interpreted as a pestilence and as a sign of the end of time. Although this is not a sign of the end times that can be measured with certainty, it is psychologically and emotionally disturbed and exacerbated by the news that is presented on the internet and social media in excess.Abstrak: Covid-19 merupakan sebuah wabah penyakit dengan efek yang mengerikan, di mana hal ini dapat menyebabkan kematian. Dalam hal ini tubuh akan membentuk sistem kekebalan tubuh untuk melawan virus yang masuk. Satu hal yang mempengaruhi akan sistem kerja kekebalan tubuh adalah kecemasan. Maka fokus dan tujuan dari peneliti fokusnya ingin menunjukkan korelasi antara kecemasan dengan covid-19 berdasarkan perkataan Tuhan Yesus dalam Luk. 21:26. Sebuah metode kualitatif dengan teknik studi pustaka dan hermeneutika akan dipergunakan dalam penulisan ini. Hasilnya, ketakutan dan kecemasan saat ini sedang dialami oleh setiap orang karena pandemi covid-19 yang dapat diinterpretasikan sebagai penyakit sampar dan sebagai tanda akhir zaman. Meskipun ini bukanlah tanda akhir zaman yang dapat diukur kepastiannya, tetapi memang secara psikologis dan emosional pikiran manusia menjadi terganggu dan diperparah dengan berita-berita yang disajikan di internet dan media sosial secara berlebihan.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah meditasi Alkitab dan doa pribadi membawa kebahagiaan terhadap Kristen. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif statistik untuk mengetahui dampak pengaruh meditasi Alkitab dan doa pribadi terhadap kebahagiaan umat-umat Kristen. Sampel penelitian ini terdiri dari adalah 198 responden. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa meditasi Alkitab dan doa pribadi yang konsisten mempunyai pengaruh yang besar terhadap kebahagiaan umat Kristen. Walaupun kondisi mental terganggu, banyak permasalahan, tetapi saat melakukan meditasi, berdoa, dan berserah kepada Tuhan maka kita akan merasakan kebahagiaan yang sejati.

Abstract

Church growth is sometimes experienced very slowly in one congregation and this is due to several influencing factors including the reluctance of church members to be involved in worship services. For this reason, the author examines and explains why a Christian must serve and what services can be done in church worship. The purpose of this study is to understand the correct concept of the importance of the involvement of church members in worship services, where such involvement can be the strength of the existence of the church and the growth of the church. To get a complete explanation, the author uses qualitative research methods and uses literature studies from various bibliography lists, both books and journals and is supported by biblical verses so that they get a complete understanding. Through this research produce steps that must be taken by a Christian to be involved in worship services such as prayer services, word ministries, music services and hymns. It is hoped that this will increase the strength of the alliance as a basis for escalating church growth.

Abstract

Amanat agung yang diberikan Tuhan Yesus untuk menyelamatkan jiwa kepada semua orang adalah tugas yang mulia untuk diemban, tidak terkecuali orang yang mengalami gangguan jiwa juga harus menjadi sasaran untuk dijangkau. Oleh sebab itu tujuan penulisan ini adalah menemukan metode yang efektif untuk menjangkau jiwa orang yang mengalami gangguan jiwa. Metodologi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metodologi penelitian kualitatif, dengan pengumpulan data melalui study kasus yaitu observasi lapangan, studi pustaka dan hermeneutik untuk menafsirkan ayat Alkitab yang dijadikan acuan. Hasil yang didapat dalam penelitian ini adalah seorang penginjil dalam usaha menjangkau orang yang mengalami gangguan jiwa maka harus mampu mengerti ilmu jiwa, dengan demikian metode Daud dalam menjangkau Saul yaitu dengan memberi perhatian khusus, pendampingan dan juga pemenuhan kebutuhan dalam usaha memberi kelegaan.

Abstract

Latar belakang dilaksannya penelitian ini, melihat anak remaja yang selalu menggunakan gadget baik dalam belajar maupun dalam waktu santai, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis penggunaan gadget dikalangan remaja  dan melihat pertumbuhan kerohanian remaja selama pandemi covid-19 dilingkungan SMP Advent Barusjulu berdasarkan Ulangan 6:7. Metode yang dipergunakan dalam penelitian ini  kualitatif  dan deskriptif dengan melakukan wawancara kepada 124 remaja yang bersekolah di SMP Advent Barusjulu untuk menguatkan hasil analisis kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini lebih banyak waktu yang digunakan remaja untuk bermain gadget daripada berdoa dan membaca Alkitab. Disaat menjelang tidur, remaja lebih banyak menggunakan waktu untuk bermain gadget untuk membuka media sosial dan aplikasi lainnya dan lupa untuk berdoa dan pada waktu  bangun tidur hal pertama yang dilakukan remaja adalah membuka gadgetnya yang mengakibatkan mereka lupa untuk berdoa.  Implikasi penelitian ini agar orang tua berperan untuk menolong dan membimbing anak-anak mereka membagi waktu dalam bermain gadget dan membaca dan menyelidiki firman Tuhan supaya tingkat kerohanian remaja dapat meningkat. Guru Agama Kristen juga memiliki peranan dalam mengarahkan anak remaja SMP Advent Barusjulu untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan kerohanian.

Abstract

Today many adventurous youths understand the divinity of the Holy Spirit. Based on the background of the problem, the purpose of this study is to analyze the meaning of the divinity of the Holy Spirit from the perspective of young people based on John 14:16. In this study, qualitative researchers with a literature approach are using descriptive analysis studies based on the Historical Grammatical Method by prioritizing the Solah Skriptura principle, which means the Bible interprets itself. The results of the analysis show that many young people doubt the divinity of the Holy Spirit as God. By doubting the divinity of the Holy Spirit, young people are less active in attending services. And their hearts strayed from the righteousness of Christ. The mistake of young people is to doubt the divinity of the Holy Spirit, due to their lack of understanding about the Holy Spirit as the representative of Christ on earth. The Holy Spirit, Eternal, All-Knowing, All-Powerful and All-Present, so that the Holy Spirit fills us with power to live according to the will of Christ.

Abstract

Jesus asked his disciples, saying, “Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?” (Matt. 16:13, Mark. 8:27), then John the Baptist was the top answer, followed by Elijah, Jeremiah. This study uses a biblical study of the meaning of the whom do men say (general opinion) by using a qualitative writing method that is studied by biblical exegesis supported by various sources related to this research. Here it is found that public opinion greatly influences one's personal belief and confession of their faith in Jesus Christ. There is a meaning behind the rejection of Jesus' messiahship by carrying the popular John the Baptist figure. Perhaps if he announced himself as the Messiah, and waged a rebellion against the Roman empire which was colonizing Israelit at that time, it would be inconceivable if that happened. Researchers found the answer that the importance of personal spiritual experience closely with God between times when the truth became unpopular. By adhering to the Word of God, the Church of God can stand firm which is built on a solid rock foundation (Petra), namely Jesus Himself.
