Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the teachers' challenge in conducting online learning at SMA Candimas Pancasari The design of this research is descriptive qualitative. In this study, the challenges of teachers in online teaching were analyzed and described descriptively. The findings in this study are about the challenges of teachers in conducting online learning at SMA Candimas Pancasari and how to overcome the challenges. Internet connection is one of the main challenges in online teaching. Internet connection is influential in online learning because some teachers and students live in difficult signal areas. This poor internet connection makes online learning unable to be 100% effective. Teachers have ways of overcoming these challenges by way of offline (LURING) for some students who have problems and provide a schedule to come to school. Teachers can overcome these challenges with various strategies during online learning.

Abstract

Education is a critical aspect in the advancement of a country. They received the new thing through adequate education which they can use to generate superior human resources. Based on this age, new technologies are being developed to make the education in learning process easier. One of the examples of an online learning platform is Google Classroom. The purpose of this research is to identify the implementation of Google Classroom and what problem are faced by students on the use of Google Classroom in online English learning. The method of this study is qualitative research to collect the data. The data is collected by using observation to the middle school at SMP Ayodhya Pura Selat and interview guide to the 8 grade students. The result shows students feel Google Classroom is ineffective used in learning process cause of some problems such as the internet connection, the task implementation in Google Classroom felt difficult than face to face in the school, limitation in supporting equipment such as smartphone and laptop to conduct the online learning.

Abstract

This study focuses on describing the perceptions of tenth grade students in learning Problem Based Learning in English-speaking classes at SMS Swasta Masehi GBKP Berastagi. This study was a mixed method study. Data collection in this study was carried out through questionnaires and interviews. The results of data analysis confirm that: (1) All students of class ten IPA-1 SMA Swasta Masehi GBKP Berastagi have a fairly satisfied perception of problem-based learning method in learning English in the oral class. (2) Problem based learning increase students’ confidence to speak English either by presenting or discussing with friends. (3) Some introvert students have a little problem in the problem-based method but can be tricked by the teacher occasionally giving problems to be solved privately. (4) English teachers who teach in class ten IPA-1 SMA Swasta Masehi GBKP Berastagi feel an increase in students' desire to learn English at every meeting. Problem-based learning is encouraged in enhancing students speaking skill.

Abstract

This study aims to provide analysis and presentation related to coherence and types of cohesion in narrative texts of grade eleven at SMA Negeri 1 Seririt in the 2024/2025 academic year. This study employs a mixed-method design, specifically an explanatory sequential mixed-method design, which integrates quantitative and qualitative descriptive methods. The findings of the analysis indicate that students have good abilities in building coherence in their writing, with details of 53% of students having very good abilities, and 47% of students having good abilities. students also frequently use employ various type of cohesion, such as references, Conjunction, substitutions, and lexical cohesion. This is indicated by the number of students who use the words she, he, they, and, since, but, day and others, all of these words are forms of cohesion. Furthermore, the type of cohesion most widely used by students is references, which reaches 50.3%. conjunctions were found as much as 28.2%, substitution as much as 0.18% and lexical cohesion as much as 21.2%. From the overall analysis it was concluded that the coherence in the texts can be influenced by the generic structure of the texts, the relationship between paragraphs, and the appropriateness and consistency of the topic of each paragraph. The cohesion observed in students' writing also demonstrated their existing comprehension of the development of relationships between words, phrases and sentences.
