Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to examine the impact of implementing the articulation model on students’ speaking skills at Madrasah Aliyah Islamiyah Syafi'iyah, Paiton, Probolinggo. The articulation model is an innovative approach that encourages students to actively retell the material they have learned to their peers. This method is designed to enhance students' comprehension, improve their communication skills, and boost their confidence. Methodology: This research employed a quantitative approach with an experimental design, involving two groups: an experimental group taught using the articulation model and a control group taught using conventional teaching methods. Main Findings: The findings indicate that students taught using the articulation model demonstrated a significant improvement in their speaking skills, with 85% able to deliver material coherently, logically, and confidently. Additionally, this model enhanced students’ understanding of the subject matter. However, some challenges were observed, such as varying levels of participation among students and difficulties in public speaking, which require specific attention to ensure active engagement for all learners. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study concludes that the articulation model is effective in enhancing students' speaking skills and is applicable at various educational levels, particularly in religious-based learning. Furthermore, the findings highlight the need for teacher training to optimize the implementation of this model and suggest opportunities for further research to explore its application in different educational settings. The study underscores the importance of professional development for educators and the potential for expanding research on this model’s effectiveness across diverse learning environments.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: Fiqh instruction in Islamic schools (madrasah) continues to face several difficulties, chief among them students' inadequate understanding of the ideas and rituals of worship due to traditional, memorization-focused teaching methods. The purpose of this study is to describe how students at the Riyadlus Sholihin Elementary Madrasah have improved their comprehension of the fiqh subject through innovative learning based on the Fiqhul Wadih book. Methodology: This study included a case study and a qualitative methodology. Key informants, including the madrasah principal, curriculum administrators, teachers, and students, were observed, interviewed in depth, and documented. Data reduction, data display, and conclusion drafting were the methods used for data analysis. Triangulating sources and methods enabled testing their validity. Main Findings: The findings demonstrated that applying learning based on Fiqhul Wadih greatly enhanced students' comprehension in both cognitive and worship-related domains. Students showed enhanced reasoning regarding fiqh concepts, practiced proper ablution and prayer techniques, and were better able to explain fiqh principles methodically. Additionally, through conversations, Q&A sessions, and practical experience, this learning increased student engagement and active participation. The conversation demonstrates how the book's methodical, communicative qualities, which are reinforced by interactive teaching strategies, contributed to its success. Novelty/Originality of this study: The study's findings support the effectiveness of Fiqhul Wadih-based instruction in raising students' knowledge of Islamic law. In terms of curriculum development, teacher learning methodologies, and raising the standard of Islamic education in madrasas, this research offers an alternate paradigm for learning Islamic law.

Abstract

The low reading interest among Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) students remains a significant challenge in education, as it can negatively impact their academic achievement and literacy development. One way to enhance students' reading interest is by optimizing picture storybooks and combining engaging text and illustrations to stimulate students' imagination and comprehension. This study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles, each involving planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. Data collection techniques included structured observations, interviews, and anecdotal records with third-grade students of MI Miftahul Ulum Pancoran Bondowoso. The results showed that using picture storybooks significantly increased students' reading interest. In the first cycle, some students began to show interest in the illustrations, although their active engagement in reading and discussion remained low. After improvements in the second cycle, including selecting books that better-matched students' interests and applying cooperative learning strategies, student involvement in reading, discussion, and story comprehension increased significantly. Observations, interviews, and anecdotal records indicated an improvement in students' engagement scores from "fair" to "good" and "excellent categories. Optimizing the use of picture storybooks effectively enhances MI students' reading interest. Picture storybooks attract students' attention cre, create a more enjoyable learning environment, and foster a positive reading culture from an early age.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study addresses the decline in students’ empathy, marked by increasing individualism and low social awareness. It highlights the need for a love-based curriculum that emphasizes compassion beyond cognitive learning. The study aims to describe the improvement of empathy among fifth-grade students at MI Nurul Mun’im through this approach.. Methodology: . A descriptive qualitative methodology was employed, and data were gathered via observation, interviews, and recording with 34 students, Islamic Religious Education teachers, and the Deputy Curriculum. Data reduction, presentation, and triangulation validity testing were used to analyze the data and derive findings. Main Findings: The findings show that a love-based curriculum can foster humanistic, interactive, and meaningful learning, as well as raise students’ empathy, including cooperation, compassion, and respect for one another. Teacher readiness, madrasah support, and a variety of teaching strategies contributed to this accomplishment, but challenges, including variations in student character, time constraints, and environmental factors, persisted. In conclusion, through a steady process of habituation, the love-based curriculum effectively increases students’ empathy. In the context of Islamic education in particular, this research advances the development of humanitarian-based character education Novelty/Originality of this study: Madrasahs are advised to expand teacher preparation, increase implementation consistency, and carry out additional research to evaluate this strategy’s long-term efficacy.

Abstract

Contemporary character education models frequently emphasize cognitive and behavioral dimensions while paying limited attention to spiritual foundations. Addressing this gap, this study aims to examine KH. Zaini Mun'im's concept of character education, as articulated in Nadhom Syu'abul Iman, and its relevance to ethical challenges in the digital era. This study employed a qualitative library research design using Nadhom Syu'abul Iman as the primary source and scholarly publications on Islamic education, character education, and digital ethics as secondary sources. Data were collected through document analysis and analyzed using descriptive-analytical and hermeneutic approaches to interpret key concepts and reconstruct their educational implications. The findings reveal that KH. Zaini Mun'im conceptualizes character education as an integrated framework in which husnul khuluq serves as the central principle that connects spiritual consciousness, moral habituation, ethical communication, and social responsibility. Character is understood as the manifestation of faith through empathy, respect, accountability, self-control, and constructive social interaction. The study also demonstrates that the ethical values embedded in Nadhom Syu'abul Iman remain relevant for addressing digital communication ethics, cyber misconduct, and declining social empathy. The originality of this study lies in its reconstruction of KH. Zaini Mun'im's educational thought into a faith-based, transformative character education framework that integrates spiritual, moral, social, and digital dimensions. This study advances Islamic character education theory by providing a conceptually grounded, contextually relevant model for contemporary educational practice.

Abstract

The loss of students' social consciousness and religiosity resulting from globalization and the inadequate teaching of Islamic Religious Education (PAI), which still emphasizes cognitive aspects, is the driving force behind this study. Thus, the purpose of this study is to characterize how Islamic boarding school-based pupils in grade 1A of MI At-Taqwa Bondowoso internalize Islamic values through PAI learning, thereby shaping their social awareness and religiosity. This study combined a case study methodology with a qualitative approach. Observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation using tools such as observation sheets, interview guides, and learning documents were used to collect data. Data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing were used in data analysis, and triangulation was used to assess the validity of the results. The findings show that learning, habituation, and teacher role models all contribute to the methodical and integrative process of internalizing Islamic beliefs. Students' religious and social consciousness can be raised through practices such as positive social interactions, contextual approaches, habitual worship, and behavioral reinforcement. Despite challenges such as variations in student characteristics and time constraints, the Islamic boarding school's religious atmosphere and teachers' role as role models are important supportive aspects. This study offers implications for the significance of including content, routines, and role models in the learning process. It advances the development of holistic, character-based Islamic Religious Education (PAI) instruction. In summary, pupils' general character is effectively shaped by internalizing Islamic ideals. To maximize the process of internalizing values, it is advised that educators create creative strategies, schools fortify their religious culture, and improve cooperation with parents.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The low level of student engagement and comprehension in Civics (PPKn) learning among third-grade students at MI Nurur Rahman motivated this study. This research aims to enhance student participation and understanding by integrating interactive learning media and classroom assessment, with a particular focus on evaluating student engagement and improving learning outcomes. Methodology: This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were third-grade students. Data were collected using observation sheets, classroom assessment instruments, and learning outcome tests to evaluate student participation and academic achievement systematically. Main Findings: The results showed a significant improvement from Cycle I to Cycle II. In Cycle I, the average student score was 86.5, with teacher activity at 89.3 and student participation at 85.7. After improvements in Cycle II, student participation increased to 94.6, teacher activity to 96.4, and the average student score to 90.4. These findings indicate that the integration of interactive learning media and classroom assessment effectively enhances student engagement, supports better understanding, and improves measurable learning outcomes.. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study contributes to the development of learning practices by integrating interactive media with classroom assessment to evaluate and improve student engagement and learning outcomes in primary education. It provides a practical framework for teachers to design interactive and assessment-oriented learning. In practice, the findings suggest that the use of interactive learning media, combined with systematic classroom assessment, can improve instructional quality and support more accurate, data-driven evaluation of student learning.
