Abstract

Background: Spinal anesthesia can cause a significant decrease in blood pressure and increased vagal tone, leading to bradycardia, nausea, and vomiting. To mitigate the risk of nausea and vomiting, it is important to provide appropriate fluid therapy during fasting or anesthesia. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between preoperative fluid therapy and the occurrence of nausea and vomiting events in post-spinal anesthetic patients at Dr. Saiful Anwar Hospital, Malang. Methods: This research employed an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. A purposive sampling technique was used, and 50 respondents were selected. The research instrument included the Rhodes Index of Nausea, Vomiting, and Retching (RINVR) observation sheet and fluid calculation formulas. The statistical test employed was Spearman’s rho with a 95% confidence interval (CI) or a significant level value (?) of 0.05.  Results: The results showed that 52% of respondents did not experience nausea and vomiting, 44% experienced mild nausea and vomiting, and 4% experienced moderate nausea and vomiting. The Spearman Rank statistical test yielded a p-value of < 0.0001. Conclusions: In conclusion, there was a significant relationship between preoperative fluid therapy and the incidence of nausea and vomiting in post-spinal anesthesia patients. Therefore, administering adequate fluids before spinal anesthesia can reduce the risk of complications, such as nausea and vomiting, associated with spinal anesthesia.

Abstract

Abstrack A mentally retarded child is a condition characterized by intelligence below average (IQ 86 and below) who will experience delays, one of which is self-care independence, so that the child becomes dependent on the family, especially the parents. Children with mental retardation should be more concerned about this, and parents should be more knowledgeable about how to care for these kids and possess stress management skills that they are likely to have gained from dealing with kids' personalities and behavior. The purpose of this study is to ascertain the association between parenting practices and the degree of independence in mentally retarded children. The design used is secondary data collection, namely literature reviews, articles are collected using search engines such as Scient Direct, IMJH, and Scholar. From the 3 databases, there were 1878 articles then screened according to the year of publication, duplicate titles, abstracts so that 10 articles were obtained. The criteria for the articles or journals used include parental care, independence of mentally retarded children, parental education, and articles published in 2015-2020. This review literature analysis is synthesized using a narrative method. Primarily based on the articles, the result display that pareting patterns can have an effect on the independence of kids with mental retadation in which children nevertheless want upbringing, steerage, and supervision from mother and father. Good parenting will have a positive effect on a child's ability to be independent. This study makes the recommendation that more research be done on the readiness of parents to become parents and the independence of children with more focused mental rehabilitation, as well as counseling about parenting and education readiness and how to care for and educate children with mental retardation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of hemoglobin levels and motivation on students' physical fitness. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design and involved 60 students as respondents who were randomly selected through random sampling techniques. The variables studied consisted of hemoglobin levels measured with a hemoglobinometer, motivation levels measured using a questionnaire with a Likert scale, and physical fitness measured through physical tests which included running 1,600 meters, push-ups, and sit-ups. The results of bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between hemoglobin levels and students' physical fitness (p = 0.003). In addition, the study also showed a significant relationship between motivation and students' physical fitness (p = 0.001). Students with high motivation had better physical fitness, with most being in the good (18.3%) and moderate (16.7%) categories. The results of this study confirmed that sufficient hemoglobin and high motivation play an important role in supporting students' physical fitness. This study provides important insights into the factors that influence students' physical fitness in an educational setting.
