Abstract

Banto (Leersia hexandra Sw.) is a weed that is often used as animal feed, which is used to remove toxins in the body. The research to study the characteristics of Banto macroscopically and microscopically. A macroscopic test were carried out directly on the physical properties of Banto. Then a microscopic test of Bantos powder simplicia was conducted using a microscope. The result of the macroscopic examination of Banto show that Banto has smooth stem segments, roots on the stem segments, height can reach 1 m, leaf width reaches 0,4 cm-1 cm, leaf length is 5 cm-23 cm, the sides are rough and have sharp edges. For the results of the microscopic examination of fresh grass at 40× magnification and 100× magnification showed the presence of epidermis, stomata, and chlorophyll. The result of microscopic study of Banto simplicia at 40× magnification and 100× magnification showed the presence of epidermis and chlorophyll.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of malic acid-glucose based microwave assited extraction (MAE) methods on total polyphenol extraction from suruhan herbs (Pepperomia pellucida (L) Kunth.). Samples that have been dried in the extraction using solvents (green solvent) Malic Acid-Glucose with a ratio of 1: 2, 1:3 and 1: 4 g/g in several conditions including, microwave strength 30% for 5 minutes with a sample ratio and a solvent of 1:14 g/mL. Then the extract solution obtained was measured in total polyphenol levels using the folin ciocalteu (FC) reagent and the absorbance was measured at a wavelength of 658 nm using a UV-vis spectrophotometer. Based on the results of the study obtained levels of polyphenols from each condition of the solvent used is 85 mg GAE/g sample (1 : 2 g/g solvent), 696 mg GAE/ g sample (1:3 g / g solvent) and 317 mg GAE /g sample (1: 4 g / g solvent). From this study it can be concluded that the method of malic acid-glucose based microwave assited extraction can be used to extract polyphenol compounds from Suruhan herbs quickly, easily and efficiently.

Abstract

Mint leaves (Mentha arvensis L.) are an example of a plant that can produce essential oils. The distinctive aroma of mint leaves provides a relaxing effect that affects the blood pressure of hypertensive patients. This study aims to look at the characteristics, patient response, and the effect of presenting peppermint aromatherapy to hypertensive patients at Puskesmas Mamburungan Tarakan. The research method used a quasy experimental research design with one group pretest and posttest design with a sample size of 20 people. The criteria for respondents who were the subject of the study were 50% of the sexes of women and men. The age with the highest proportion is 56-60 years old as much as 50%. The occupation with the highest proportion was housewives as much as 30%. The results of the study of the patient's response to aromatherapy preparations obtained the respondent's preferred level with a proportion of 90%. The effect of giving aromatherapy felt by the respondents was 75% fresh and 25% relaxed. Respondents would prefer it if peppermint oil was made in roll on dosage form (70%), compared to spray form (25%) and diffuser (5%). The results showed that there was an effect of peppermint aromatherapy on systolic blood pressure before the intervention took place with an average of 162,117 mmHg and after intervention it was 150,683 mmHg, diastolic blood pressure before intervention was 98.63 mmHg and after intervention it became 93.23 mmHg. Abstract

Kidney stones are a disease that is often found in society due to various causes. This disease is characterized by hardened deposits in the kidneys, mostly containing calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate. The medical treatment used is most effective with surgery. But this can carry significant risks, unwanted side effects, and is relatively expensive. So that herbal medicine becomes an alternative. This study aims to determine which plants have the activity of calcium kidney stone breaking. The research method used is online data search using appropriate keywords, carried out online in indexed journal databases. Based on several studies, there are several plants that have in vitro activity so that they can provide an overview of certain herbal plants that have the potential to decay calcium kidney stones, namely Cocor Bebek (Bryophyllum Pinnatum Lam), Kelor Leaves (Moringa oleifera Lam.), combination of Soursop Leaves ( Annona muricata) and pegagan (Centella asiatica L.Urb) , Adam Hawa leaves (Rhoeo discolor Hance), starfruit leaves (Averrhoa bilimbii L.), Moonflower leaves (Tithonia diversifolia), and celery (Apium graveolens L.)The part of tamanan leaves studied has a good affinity for releasing kidney stones calcium.

Abstract

Antibiotics are drugs used to treat infections. Infection is a disease problem that often occurs in developing countries in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of knowledge and behavior of the community in the use of antibiotics and the relationship between knowledge and behavior in the use of antibiotic drugs in the people of Tanjung Redeb District, Berau Regency. This research was conducted by distributing questionnaires to 119 respondents using a cross sectional method with purposive sampling of respondents. The results showed that the level of knowledge of the people of Berau Regency was quite good, namely 47.89% and the results of research based on community behavior were well-behaved with a percentage of 42.01%. The results of the Spearman correlation analysis show that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge on behavior with a correlation coefficient of 0.258, so the relationship between variables is low.

Abstract

Kelakai leaf (Stenochlaena palustris (Burm.F.) Bedd) is a typical plant of East Kalimantan with high iron content which can overcome anemia. The juice of anchovies was formulated into a nutraceutical gummy candy preparation using the Simplex Lattice Design (SLD) method. The results showed that the juice of anise leaves could be used as a gummy candy preparation with an evaluation results that meet the standard with a juice concentration of 9%, pH 5.4, chewy texture, elastic, strawberry essence aroma, sour taste, and brownish yellow color, 11.52% water content, and 2.30% ash content.

Abstract

A research about the antioxidant cream formulation from cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) pod husk extract have been done. The research was aimed to formulate cream from extract of cocoa pod husk with high antioxidant activity and physically stable. Fresh cocoa pod husk was extracted with both of ethanol-water (7:3) and acetone-water (7:3), then both of extracts was tested their antioxidant activities by DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhidrazyl) method. The acetone-water (7:3) extract which have the higher antioxidant activity (IC50 = 0,08 mg/ml toward DPPH free radical) was formulated become cream preparation with variated emulsifying agents, i.e. anionic emulsifier (stearic-triethanolamine (TEA) with vary concentrations of TEA i.e. 1%, 2% and 3%) and nonionic emulsifier (Span 60-Tween 60 3%, 4% and 5%). The result of research indicated that antioxidant cream with Span 60-Tween 60 3% as emulsifying agent was the most physically stable cream. Keywords: cocoa pod husk, antioxidant, cream, physics stability, Span 60- Tween 60 ABSTRAK Penelitian tentang formulasi krim antioksidan dari ekstrak kulit buah kakao (Theobroma cacao L.) telah dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memformulasi krim dari ekstrak kulit buah kakao dengan aktivitas antioksidan tinggi dan stabil secara fisika. Kulit buah kakao segar diekstraksi dengan penyari etanol-air (7:3) dan penyari aseton-air (7:3) kemudian diuji aktivitas antioksidannya dengan metode DPPH (2,2-difenil-1-pikrilhidrazil). Ekstrak aseton-air (7:3) yang memiliki aktivitas antioksidan tertinggi (IC50 = 0,08 mg/mL terhadap radikal bebas DPPH) diformulasi menjadi sediaan krim dengan bahan pengemulsi yang bervariasi yaitu emulgator anionik (trietanolamin (TEA)-stearat dengan variasi konsentrasi TEA 1%, 2% dan 3%) dan emulgator nonionik (Tween 60-Span 60 3%, 4% dan 5%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa krim dengan emulgator Tween 60-Span 60 3 % adalah krim yang paling stabil secara fisika. Abstract

Minyak biji delima memiliki aktivitas antioksidan kuat, sehingga berpotensi untuk diformulasi menjadi sediaan antioksidan topikal. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi formula sediaan krim minyak biji delima dan menguji aktivitas antioksidan dari sediaan tersebut. Krim a/m diformulasi menggunakan emulgator Tween 80- Span 80. Evaluasi sediaan meliputi pemeriksaan pH dan viskositas sediaan yang disimpan selama 4 minggu pada suhu kamar, stabilitas fisik dengan metode Freeze Thaw sebanyak 4 siklus dimana 1 siklus terdiri dari 48 jam pada suhu 4°C dan 48 jam pada suhu 40°C. Potensi antioksidan diuji dengan metode β-Carotene Bleaching. Formula krim yang mengandung minyak biji delima 1% stabil secara fisik. Hasil uji efek antioksidan menunjukkan persen penghambatan minyak biji delima murni dan minyak biji delima dalam bentuk krim terhadap penurunan warna β-Carotene berturut-turut adalah 73,41% dan 52,80%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa aktivitas antioksidan minyak biji delima dalam bentuk krim mengalami penurunan 0,3 kali.Kata kunci: krim, minyak biji delima, antioksidan, β-Carotene BleachingABSTRACTPomegranate seed oil has a potent antioxidant activity that is potential to be formulate into topical antioxidant dosage form. The purpose of this study is to formulate cream of pomegranate seed oil that physically stable, however have antioxidant activity. Cream w/o was formulated using Tween 80 - Span 80 as emulsifier. Evaluation of cream products includes determining pH and viscosity of the preparations stored for 4 weeks at room temperature, physical stability test by Freeze Thaw method which was carried out for 4 cycles in where 1 cycle consists of 48 hours at 4°C and 48 hours at 40°C. Antioxidant activity was tested by β-carotene bleaching method. The results of the research showed that all cream formulas containing pomegranate seed oil 1% were physically stable and can increase the comfortness in use on the skin. The antioxidant test results showed antioxidant activity of pure pomegranate seed oil and pomegranate seed oil as formulated in creams have antioxidant capacity with inhibition percentage of 73.41% and 52.80%, respectively. Based on these results it can be concluded that the antioxidant activity of pomegranate seed oil in cream decreased 0,3 times.Keywords: cream, pomegranate seed oil, antioxidant, β-Carotene Bleaching

Abstract

Sepabang (Melastoma malabathricumshot L.) leaf contains a group of phenolic compounds and has a very strong antioxidant activity so it is potentially to be developed in the form of pharmaceutical preparations. The purpose of this research is to optimize and formulate an emulgel containing Sepabang leaf extract that physically stable. Emulgel preparations are formulated using carbopol and hydroxyprophylmethylcellulose as gelling agents and Tween 60 – Span 60 and combination of triethanolamine and stearic acid as emulsifiers, with a concentration of methanol extract of Sepabang leaves of 0.25%. Physical characteristics of emulgel preparations include pH value, viscosity determination, and spreadability test evaluated at room temperature for 4 weeks. The physical stability test is done by the Freeze Thaw method for 6 cycles, of which 1 cycle consists of 48 hours at 4°C and 48 hours at 40°C. The results showed that the Sepabang emulgel that meet physical characteristic and stability parameters are F1 with HPMC as gelling agents and Tween 60-Span 60 3% as emulsifiers.
