Abstract

Keberadaan Satuan Pendidikan Kerja Sama (SPK) semakin marak di Indonesia. SPK pada umumnya mengacu pada kurikulum internasional, namun tetap dituntut untuk mengikutsertakan beberapa mata kuliah dari kurikulum nasional, termasuk mata kuliah bahasa Indonesia. Sayangnya, pengadaan bahan ajar bahasa Indonesia yang berbasis kurikulum internasional masih terbatas, dan penyediaan di perguruan tinggi yang diperoleh mahasiswa sebagai calon pengembang bahan ajar tersebut belum selalu memadai. Keadaan ini menjadi tantangan sekaligus peluang, khususnya bagi mahasiswa di Jawa Barat yang meliputi hampir 90 SPK yang masih aktif. Dengan demikian, pelatihan ini dinilai relevan sebagai salah satu upaya penguatan kompetensi mahasiswa untuk menjadi guru BIPA yang kompeten. Pelatihan ini menggandeng akademisi di perguruan tinggi dan praktisi di SPK yang memiliki keahlian di bidang kurikulum BIPA dan IB-DP yang relevan dengan tujuan yang diharapkan. Para peserta mengikuti serangkaian kegiatan teori dan praktik untuk mendapatkan pengalaman yang lebih kaya. Pada akhirnya, ditemukan bahwa sebagian besar kandidat harus berhadapan dengan tantangan internal dan eksternal untuk mengatasi situasi tersebut. Lingkungan, khususnya program studi, juga berpeluang untuk meningkatkan kompetensi kandidat di masa mendatang.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeksripsikan struktur dan fungsi wacana naratif dalam cerpen karya mahasiswa BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing) Vietnam. Cerpen sebagai bentuk teks sastra menyediakan ruang ekspresi budaya dan personal yang kaya dan menjadi alat evaluasi kemampuan berbahasa tulis secara kreatif dalam pembelajaran BIPA. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, penelitian ini menganalisis tujuh cerpen karya mahasiswa BIPA Vietnam. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa seluruh cerpen memuat struktur naratif yang lengkap yaitu abstrak, orientasi, komplikasi, evaluasi, resolusi, dan koda. Meskipun, pengembangan paragrafnya dinilai masih kurang. Dari segi fungsinya, ketujuh cerpen didominasi dengan fungsi edukatif melalui pesan moral yang disampaikan dalam cerita. Sedangkan, fungsi yang paling sedikit adalah fungsi estetik dan rekreatif. Variasi bahasa menunjukkan campuran gaya bahasa naratif dari budaya asal. Mahasiswa BIPA Vietnam cenderung menggunakan bahasa yang minimalis dan reflektif. Lebih lanjut, variasi budaya yang ditemukan menggambarkan identitas dan kebiasaan dari masyarakat Vietnam. Dapat dikatakan bahwa cerpen mahasiswa BIPA Vietnam tidak hanya menjadi produk kebahasaan, tetapi juga menjadi alat komunikasi lintas budaya.  Kata Kunci: stuktur, fungsi, wacana naratif, cerpen, BIPA

Abstract

This study aims to develop transcultural multimedia teaching materials for learners of Indonesian as a Foreign Language (BIPA) using a three-mode communication approach: interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) method, the process involved six key stages including needs analysis, planning, product development, and limited trials. Validation from five experts yielded an average score of 4.55, indicating high quality. A field trial involving 30 foreign learners demonstrated significant improvement in learner motivation, cultural understanding, and communication skills. This study's mixed-methods analysis demonstrates that a technologically advanced, culturally aware curriculum greatly improves students' language proficiency and critical intercultural competency, which are required for effective communication in the real world. Interactive features, contextual videos, and reflective activities effectively enhanced pragmatic competence and intercultural awareness. Participant feedback highlighted the need for more regionally diverse content and adaptive learning paths. This study underscores the importance of integrating cultural and technological elements in language education to foster comprehensive communicative and intercultural competence. In the end, these study findings offer a revolutionary BIPA model.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang desain karakter edukatif pada buku pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA) level A1 di Bridge Language Center (BLC), Jakarta International University (JIU). Berdasarkan hasil wawancara, observasi, dan studi literatur, ditemukan bahwa pembelajaran kosakata dasar seperti nomina, verba, dan adjektiva masih menghadapi kendala akibat keterbatasan media visual kontekstual. Perancangan dilakukan dengan pendekatan flat design karena karakteristiknya yang sederhana, komunikatif, dan sesuai dengan pembelajar dewasa. Empat karakter utama multikultural dirancang dengan ciri khas visual untuk mendukung pemahaman konteks dalam buku ajar. Karakter-karakter ini juga diterapkan pada media pendukung seperti poster, pin, tote bag, dan puzzle edukatif. Hasil perancangan diharapkan mampu meningkatkan efektivitas dan keterlibatan dalam pembelajaran BIPA level A1

Abstract

This study examines the use of Indonesian short stories as a medium of cultural diplomacy in learning Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) at Phatnawitya School, Yala, Thailand. Although literary texts have long been used in BIPA learning, studies that specifically examine their role as an instrument of cultural diplomacy in the context of multicultural education are still limited. The purpose of this study is to describe the use of short stories as a means of cultural diplomacy in the BIPA learning process at Phatnawitya School. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study showed that short stories were effective in improving the language skills of foreign learners, including reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. In addition, the use of short stories also encourages understanding and appreciation of Indonesian culture. The learners showed high enthusiasm and were able to express their ideas through the presentation of their work. Thus, short stories have proven to contribute positively to the development of language competence and become a means of conveying Indonesian cultural values subtly (soft diplomacy) in the realm of international education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the form of Indonesian language errors and their causative factors at the phonological level carried out by BIPA learners in Alekawa, Makassar City. The research data was in the form of oral speech of BIPA learners which contained phonological errors. Data collection was carried out through documentation, observation, and interview techniques. Data is analyzed by the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results showed significant phonological errors, with the dominant forms of errors including: 1) phoneme changes, such as /a/ to /e/ (e.g. "kalo" to "kelo"), /m/ to /b/ (e.g. "eat" to "bakan"), and /m/ to /ng/ (e.g. "night" to "ngalam"); 2) the omission of phonemes, such as /e/ (e.g. "shoe" becomes "spatu") and /g/ (e.g. "fence" becomes "pair"); and 3) the addition of phonemes, such as /h/, /s/, and /w/ (e.g. "let" become "hayo"). Factors that cause these errors include mother tongue interference due to differences in intonation, syllable, and pressure patterns; lack of mastery of the rules of Indonesian phonology; and age factors that affect the adaptation of the speech organs.

Abstract

The Green Princess" is a Deli Malay folktale containing local wisdom that needs to be preserved and introduced to BIPA learners. Efforts to preserve culture can be conveyed by preparing materials for BIPA learners, so that the local wisdom of the Green Princess, containing educational and cultural values, can be introduced to BIPA learners. The local wisdom contained in the Green Princess folktale needs to be disseminated and introduced to foreign learners as BIPA learning material. Introducing local wisdom greatly helps foreign learners communicate with the local community. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach to gain an understanding of reality through an inductive thinking process. By engaging with the situations and phenomena of BIPA material preparation, learners can learn educational and cultural values through the Green Princess folktale, which serves as reading material in BIPA learning. This material contains the following educational values: 1) Truth values, 2) Religious values, 3) Moral values, and 4) Social values. This material also contains cultural values: 1) The relationship between humans and God, 2) The relationship between humans and other humans, 3) The relationship between humans and nature, and 4) The relationship between humans and their creations.

Abstract

Learning Indonesian for foreign speakers (BIPA) at the elementary school level requires a fun, communicative, and suitable approach for the child’s age and development. An effective medium in supporting this learning is children's songs. Songs can help children develop their ability to listen, pronounce, and understand language naturally. This study aims to describe the effectiveness, benefits, and challenges of integrating children's songs into BIPA learning at the Muslim Santitham Foundation School in Thailand. This research employed qualitative descriptive methods. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation of student learning outcomes. The research subjects were 32 elementary school students (A1). The data analysis technique used the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of three main steps, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions/verification. The results of the study show that the use of children's songs can increase students’ active participation, strengthen basic vocabulary mastery, and create a pleasant learning atmosphere. However, several challenges, such as limited audio-visual media and differences in students’ language ability levels, need special attention. Children’s songs have proven to be a potential medium in BIPA learning for children, especially in rebuilding the closeness of the Malay language and culture in the southern region of Thailand

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pemanfaatan aplikasi quizizz sebagai media pembelajaran dalam pengenalan kosakata khas Batak Toba naniura bagi pembelajar BIPA tingkat madya. Pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA) menuntut pendekatan kontekstual yang tidak hanya memperhatikan aspek linguistik, tetapi juga kultural. Salah satu bentuk integrasi budaya lokal dalam pengajaran bahasa adalah melalui kosakata kuliner tradisional. Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode deskripsi kualitatif dengan tahapan yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan aplikasi quizizz mampu meningkatkan partisipasi dan pemahaman kosakata pembelajar BIPA melalui fitur gamifikasi yang interaktif dan menyenangkan. Penggunaan quizizz dengan materi berbasis kuliner naniura mendukung terciptanya pembelajaran bahasa yang komunikatif, kontekstual, dan berbasis kearifan lokal. Dengan demikian, aplikasi quizizz efektif digunakan untuk mengenalkan kosakata baru berbasis budaya dalam pembelajaran BIPA. Kata Kunci: BIPA, Quizizz, Kosakata, Kuliner Naniura, Batak Toba

Abstract

This study aims to explore the perceptions and challenges of translanguaging faced by teachers in BIPA (Indonesian for Foreign Speakers) classes. Using a qualitative approach and specifically a descriptive case study design case study design, it involved in-depth interviews with four BIPA teachers. The results showed that translanguaging, which involves alternating the use of English and Indonesian, facilitates the process of learning Indonesian, especially at the beginner level. This strategy helps students understand complex materials, increases engagement, expands vocabulary, and reduces language learning anxiety. However, challenges remain, including students’ reliance on English, differences in language proficiency levels, and difficulties in teaching complex language concepts such as grammar and sentence structure. In addition, it highlights the importance of context and cultural elements in BIPA learning. Cultural elements, such as ‘catatan budaya’ handbook that includes traditional Indonesian dances and customs, help students understand the language more deeply while introducing Indonesian culture globally. In conclusion, translanguaging is an effective pedagogical strategy, but its success requires a balance between the use of English and Indonesian, as well as the readiness of teachers to manage the challenges that arise. The implications of these findings indicate the need for professional training for teachers to optimize the application of translanguaging in BIPA learning.
