Abstract

This study analyzes the dynamics of the socio-economic life of patchouli farmers in Jorong Rimbo Binuang, Nagari Lingkuang Aua Timur, Pasaman District, West Pasaman Regency for the period 2015–2023. This research uses a historical method that includes four continuous stages: heuristics through literature study and oral history (interviews), criticism of external and internal sources, data interpretation, and historiography. The results of the study show that the history of patchouli cultivation began with the remains of coffee plantations in the Dutch colonial era since 1963. The development of patchouli farming for the 2015–2018 period includes improvements in cultivation techniques, distillation, and marketing orientation. Meanwhile, the 2019-2023 period was marked by fluctuations in the planting area, production volume, and price dynamics of patchouli oil in the market. The shift of primary livelihoods from growing maize and tapping rubber to patchouli cultivation significantly improved the living standards of the local community. Economically, 90 percent of farmers' income has increased so that family needs can be met properly. Socially, 75 percent of residential areas have been renovated into viable permanent buildings, 65 percent of farmers are able to finance children's education up to the university level, 40% of the population owns a private vehicle, and 80% of the population can afford medical treatment after planting nilam.

Abstract

This study analyzes the partial and simultaneous effects of principal supervision and the role of the school committee on teacher performance at SMP IPTEK Tangsel. A quantitative associative design was applied to all 30 teachers using saturated sampling. Data were collected through validated and reliable closed questionnaires and analyzed with descriptive statistics, Shapiro-Wilk normality testing, multicollinearity and Glejser tests, simple and multiple linear regression, t-tests, F-tests, and coefficients of determination using IBM SPSS Statistics 24. Principal supervision positively and significantly affected teacher performance (t = 5.442; p < 0.001; R² = 0.514). The school committee role also had a positive and significant effect (t = 2.884; p = 0.007; R² = 0.229). Simultaneously, both predictors significantly affected teacher performance (F = 20.994; p < 0.001; R² = 0.609). The study integrates internal academic supervision and external school-community participation within one empirical model, demonstrating that their synergy explains 60.9% of teacher-performance variation at the junior secondary school level.

Abstract

This study aimed to design a mobile game-based learning media, particularly for the Earth structure topic for eighth-grade students at SMPN 2 Kebakkramat, and to determine its feasibility as a learning medium. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Functional testing was conducted using Black Box Testing, while the feasibility assessment involved media experts, subject metter experts, and educators. All validation results were analyzed using a Likert scale. The results showed that all game functions operated properly without any issues. The mobile game obtained a feasibility score of 88% from the media expert, categorized as (very feasible), 94 % from the subject metter expert, categorized as (very feasible), and 88% from educators, also categorized as (very feasible). The novelty of this study lies in the design of a mobile educational game using Construct 3 that integrates Earth structure material with quizzes as a learning medium that can be accessed on Android devices. Therefore, it can be concluded that the mobile game-besed learning media, (EduTerra) is considered very feasible for use as a learning medium for the Earth structure topic.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of teachers’ professional competence in improving literacy and numeracy skills reflected in the Education Report Card and to identify obstacles and solutions in the Radin Intan Elementary School Cluster, Putra Rumbia District. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach involving four elementary schools. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data validity was established through source, technique, and time triangulation. The findings show that teachers’ professional competence supports literacy through subject mastery, reading habituation, appropriate learning methods and media, assessment, and follow-up activities. In numeracy, this role is demonstrated through conceptual mastery, contextual learning, learning media and resources, assessment, remedial activities, and enrichment. Obstacles include limited time, facilities, learning resources, technology, internet access, and professional development opportunities. Solutions include teacher working groups, learning communities, training, sharing good practices, and improving facilities. Better professional competence supported by adequate facilities tends to correspond with better literacy and numeracy achievement.
