Abstract

The Bertani Untuk Negeri program is an agricultural empowerment initiative aimed at improving farming productivity, implementing standard operating procedures (SOP), and enhancing farmers’ welfare. Implemented in Gekbrong Subdistrict, Cianjur Regency, the program involves farmers as key actors. Its success depends largely on farmers' active participation and their perceptions of the program’s benefits and effectiveness. This study analyzes: (1) the influence of perceptions on farmer participation, (2) the influence of perceptions on program success, and (3) the influence of participation on program success. Conducted from February to June 2024, the study used a quantitative approach through surveys and questionnaires with 104 farmers from a population of 144. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Results show that farmers’ perceptions positively and significantly influence participation and program success. Participation has a stronger impact on program success and partially mediates the effect of perception. These findings highlight that positive perceptions and active farmer participation are critical for achieving program goals, including improving productivity, applying SOP, and increasing income.

Abstract

Jajar legowo is a rice planting technique that has been proven to increase rice productivity, but its adoption among farmers is still low. The diffusion of innovation theory and the theory of planned behavior are considered instrumental in explaining the behavior of innovation adoption. The purpose of this research is to analyze the phenomenon of farmers' innovation adoption behavior in the field by integrating these two theories. The research methodology employed is a qualitative approach through a literature review from reputable sources and interviews with farmers. The results of this study indicate that the integration of the Diffusion of Innovation and Theory of Planned Behavior provides deeper insights into the behavior of agricultural innovation adoption. Farmers' adoption behavior is influenced by innovation characteristics and subjective norms supported by external forces and self-efficacy. Farmers' perceptions of the Jajar Legowo system, which increases yields and reduces production costs, have a strong influence on their adoption intentions. Social norms, especially the influence of extension workers and farmer groups, play a significant role in shaping adoption intentions. Additionally, perceived behavioral control and farmers' self-efficacy in implementing this system are key determinants in successful adoption.

Abstract

Soybean is the raw material used in the production of tofu. Jembar Manah Tofu Industry is a producer of sumedang tofu that uses an estimation method in purchasing soybean raw materials. This study aims to analyze the production performance of sumedang tofu and the inventory control of soybeans as raw material, also provide inventory control recommendations to optimize inventory costs in the Jembar Manah Tofu Industry. The research design is qualitative with a case study approach. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method. The results showed that the materials used in tofu production consist of soybeans, coagulant, coarse salt, and cooking oil. The production process includes washing and soaking, grinding, boiling, filtering, coagulating, molding, cutting, marinating, and frying. The industry currently orders soybeans in quantities of 5,000 kg with a frequency of 12 orders per year and a delivery lead time of 1–2 days. By applying the EOQ method, the optimal purchase quantity is 2,484 kg with a frequency of 18 orders per year, safety stock of 250 kg, and reorder point of 500 kg. EOQ implementation can reduce total inventory costs by 20,31%, demonstrating its potential to address uncertainties in the procurement of soybean raw materials.

Abstract

Urban farming refers to agricultural practices conducted in urban areas, offering a wide range of benefits. The success of the Komunitas Berkebun Semarang as a platform for the residents of Semarang to learn about and implement urban farming practices is closely related to the individual characteristics of its members. This study aims to examine the influence of member characteristics such as age, educational background, training participation, family acceptance, and number of family members on the decision to engage in urban farming. The research was conducted from February to March 2025 in Semarang City. The research location was selected purposively, based on the consideration that the Komunitas Berkebun Semarang is one of the most active urban farming communities in the city. The sampling technique employed was probability sampling, specifically simple random sampling. The sample size was determined using the Slovin formula, resulting in a total of 70 respondents. Data collection was carried out through interviews using structured questionnaires and field observations. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and binary logistic regression analysis. The results of the binary logistic regression test indicate that age, educational background, training participation, family acceptance, and number of family members simultaneously have a statistically significant influence on the decision to engage in urban farming. However, partially, only educational background, training participation, and family acceptance were found to have a significant influence, while age and number of family members did not show a significant effect.

Abstract

The UPLAND program aims to meet food needs by increasing productivity and farmer income. As part of the program, farmers are required to adopt certified organic rice cultivation practices. To successfully manage their farming activities farmers must use production input efficiently to achieve optimal yields and improve income from organic rice farming. This study aims to analyze the efficiency of input use in organic rice farming in terms of technical, allocative, and economic efficiency. The research was conducted in Cipatujah Subdistrict, the location of the UPLAND Program implementation, from July to November 2024. A survey method was used with questionnaires and interviews as instruments. The sampling technique employed was simple random sampling, with 106 farmer respondents. The data were analyzed using the Stochastic Frontier production function. The results showed that the average organic rice farmers in the region have achieved technical efficiency. However, allocative and economic efficiency have not yet been achieved, indicating the need for further optimization in the allocation and combination of production factors.

Abstract

Eggs are functional foods that are always available in every home, considering their nutritional content and practicality of serving. However, duck eggs are still constrained in consumption because of their sharp, eggy smell. This study aims to determine consumer preferences for the organoleptic properties of original and oregano-salted eggs (Plectanthrus amboinicus SPRENG). Data were obtained through an organoleptic test questionnaire to 85 respondents. Data analysis used an independent sample t-test. The results showed that original and oregano-salted eggs had the same preferences for the color of the egg yolk and egg white. The texture of oregano-salted eggs differs from that of the original salted eggs. The taste of egg yolk and egg white differs greatly from original salted eggs and oregano salted eggs. Oregano-salted eggs have a better taste than oregano-salted eggs. The most prominent difference is that the aroma of oregano-salted eggs no longer smells eggy. It is very preferred by consumers.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the adaptation strategies of chili farmers to climate change around Lake Tempe, focusing on the influence of climate change perception and livelihood capital. A quantitative approach was employed using Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to chili farmers in the study area. The results indicate that chili farmers experience significant impacts of climate change, such as shifts in planting seasons, increased pest and disease attacks, and reduced water availability. In response, farmers adopt various adaptation strategies, including crop diversification, the use of agricultural technology, and adjustments in planting schedules. The SEM-PLS model shows that climate change perception has a positive and significant effect on adaptation strategies, with a path coefficient of 0.421 (p < 0.001). Livelihood capital—which includes natural, human, physical, social, and financial assets—has a stronger influence with a path coefficient of 0.512 (p < 0.001). The R-square value of 0.612 indicates that both independent variables explain 61.2% of the variance in farmers’ adaptation strategies. In conclusion, the adaptation strategies of chili farmers around Lake Tempe are significantly influenced by their perception of climate change and the strength of their livelihood capital. These findings highlight the importance of enhancing climate literacy and improving access to productive resources to strengthen farmers’ resilience to climate change.
