Abstract

Among the sub-districts in Ketapang Regency, Sandai District has the largest output of rice cultivation, which is attributed to the huge number of farmers and the area of land dedicated to rice cultivation. However, as a district with high rice production, farmers in Sandai District also face production risks. This risk is a determining factor in the availability of their crops. This study aims to analyse production risk and the influence of production factors on rice farming risk. This research uses qualitative and quantitative methods, and uses primary and secondary data. This research is a sample study. To determine the influence of production factors on production risk, data analysis was conducted with the coefficient of variation (CV) and the production variance function method to multiple linear regression analysis by Just and Pope. The findings indicated that the production risk associated with rice cultivation had a coefficient of variation (CV) of 33.36% in Sandai Sub-district and the production risk factors that significantly influenced the production of rice farming were NPK fertiliser, pesticides and seeds.

Abstract

This paper aims to study the collaboration between actors in the horticultural agricultural entrepreneurship ecosystem in West Java. The research method used in this paper is descriptive - qualitative analysis, with the focus of analysis on the quadruple helix collaboration between farming actors, government, universities and the agricultural industry, analyzing the knowledge transfer process carried out among the actors involved, to develop agricultural entrepreneurship. The results explain that strengthening human resources and agricultural institutions are the main aspects in creating a competitive and productive agricultural entrepreneurship ecosystem. In its implementation, the programs have helped farmers in the development of farming, both in terms of onfarm cultivation and farm management. But on the other hand, the implementation of the program in the field is still limited and not sustainable. To overcome this, synergistic collaboration is needed among the actors involved (government, universities, industry and farming actors). Information disclosure and intense communication can help the synergy process, so that the actors involved can strengthen each other, facilitating the achievement of activity outcomes, namely creating a conducive, productive and competitive agricultural entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Abstract

This study compares the economic welfare of farmers in the capture and aquaculture fisheries sectors in South Sulawesi Province through an analysis of Fisherman’s Exchange Rate (NTP) as an indicator of purchasing power and economic stability. Secondary data from the South Sulawesi Central Statistics Agency (BPS) were used to examine the development of farmers' exchange rates in both sectors between 2018 and 2022. Statistical analysis shows that the NTP in the capture fisheries sector is higher than in aquaculture, indicating relatively better welfare in the capture sector. Results from a paired sample t-test reveal a significant difference between the two sectors (p < 0.001), with a more stable average NTP in the capture sector. This study recommends technological and infrastructure support for the aquaculture sector to improve economic stability. The study has implications for more adaptive and sustainable fishery management policies to enhance the welfare of fishery farmers in South Sulawesi.

Abstract

The potential of dairy farming in Jember Regency is enormous, but the added value of milk products is still low because farmers sell raw milk without further processing. This study aims to analyze the potential replication of the Teaching Factory (TEFA) model of Jember State Polytechnic to increase the added value of dairy farmers. The research method uses a qualitative descriptive approach with direct observation to TEFA, literature studies, and secondary data analysis. The results showed that the TEFA model integrates dairy cattle breeding with independent feed production, waste utilization into biogas, and market-oriented milk product diversification. Bestcow Farm Jember data shows farming business has R/C Ratio of 1.09 with profit of Rp. 88,084,392.86 per year, but vulnerable to 15% feed cost increases. TEFA model replication has potential to increase added value through processed milk product diversification (30-70% margin), feed efficiency (20-30%), and waste utilization. Challenges of limited capital, human resources, and technology can be overcome through training, mentoring, and strategic partnerships. The TEFA model shows ideal agroindustrial integration with potential to increase farmer income by 100-180%.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the level of sustainability of duck farming in Indramayu District by considering environmental, economic and social impacts. In addition, this study also focuses on identifying and understanding the factors that hinder the sustainability of the business, assessing the influence of technology use and institutional support, and knowing the strategic steps that can be taken to improve the sustainability of duck farming. The research method used is quantitative method. The research was conducted in Sliyeg and Sindang sub-districts, in January to February, 2025, involving 96 participating respondents that are randomly selected. The analysis method used in this study is Multidimensional Scaling (MDS), which is applied to determine the sustainability status of duck farming. The results research showed that the level of sustainability of duck farming is still lacking, with varying sustainability index values in each dimension. Factors such as low technology adoption, financial constraints and limited access to training are the main challenges that need to be overcome. Institutional support and the application of modern technology are expected to improve production efficiency and business sustainability. The resulting strategic recommendations include enhancing farmers' access to training on modern duck farming practices, providing subsidized loans for infrastructure improvement, and facilitating partnerships with feed suppliers. For example, implementing regular government-led training programs in each sub-district could increase awareness and adoption of efficient feeding systems, while financial assistance can help farmers build better housing facilities.

Abstract

Orchid farming has the potential to be developed, because orchids have attractive shapes, colors, and aromas. Despite having great potential, orchid farmers face various obstacles such as productivity fluctuations, land conversion, and market problems that threaten the sustainability of their farming businesses. This study aims to identify factors that influence farmers' decisions in Pamulang District, South Tangerang City, in cultivating orchids. The factors studied include internal factors such as age, education, and experience, as well as external factors such as income, land area, capital, ease of cultivation, market opportunities, farming risks, and the role of the government. The method used is quantitative research with the Rasch Model, where the research sample consisted of 32 orchid farmers. The results of the study showed that ease of obtaining production facilities, availability of land suitable for orchids, and stable market demand are the main factors that encourage farmers to continue their farming businesses. However, the problem of unstable income and difficulty in obtaining capital from external parties, including the government, are the main obstacles. Farmers also consider formal education to have no significant effect on orchid cultivation, which is more influenced by practical experience and non-formal extension. Based on these results, it is recommended that the government provide capital assistance and production facilities with simpler and faster procedures. In addition, improving the quality of extension and training for farmers is also important to increase productivity, especially in the midst of limited land availability.
