Abstract

The regeneration of farmers in Indonesia remains slow, with young farmers (<35 years) accounting for only 12.87 percent, while the proportion of elderly farmers continues to increase. This condition reflects the low interest and motivation of young generations to engage in agricultural entrepreneurship. The transformation of young agropreneurs is therefore essential to strengthen farmer regeneration and the competitiveness of farming enterprises amid the challenges of climate change, commodity price fluctuations, and the dynamics of digital markets. This study aims to formulate a strategic model for transforming young agropreneurs oriented toward sustainable agriculture. The research was conducted in South Lampung Regency involving 30 young farmer respondents. A descriptive quantitative and qualitative approach was applied through surveys, in-depth interviews, field observations, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). SWOT analysis was employed to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in the transformation process of young agropreneurs. The findings indicate that young agropreneurs occupy an adaptive diversification strategy position, characterized by stronger internal capabilities than weaknesses. The formulated model emphasizes digital capacity enhancement, product innovation, and institutional collaboration to expand market access and strengthen farm resilience. The model is oriented toward three dimensions of sustainability: economic (efficiency and value addition), social (network and capacity strengthening among young farmers), and environmental (climate adaptation through eco-friendly technologies). This study highlights the importance of synergy among policies, institutions, and human resource development to accelerate the transformation of young agropreneurs toward an innovative, resilient, and sustainable agricultural system.

Abstract

Sustainable agriculture is a solution to soil degradation, climate change, and excessive use of chemicals. The organic minapadi system, which integrates rice and fish cultivation in a single ecosystem, is considered capable of improving land efficiency and farmers' income in an environmentally friendly manner. This study aims to analyze the business management and feasibility of organic minapadi operations at P4S Bengkel Mimpi in Malang Regency, which has been in operation for over a decade. The research was conducted from February to April 2025 using a quantitative descriptive method with purposive sampling techniques. Primary data were obtained through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The analysis included production costs, revenue, income, business efficiency (R/C ratio), and long-term investment feasibility (NPV, IRR, Net B/C, and Payback Period). The results showed total costs per growing season of Rp57,016,301, with revenues of Rp76,576,000, resulting in net income of Rp19,559,699. The R/C ratio of 1.3 indicates that the business is viable. A 10-year investment analysis yielded a positive NPV of Rp321,484,569, an IRR >100%, a Net B/C of 1.30, and a payback period of only 0.66 years, indicating very rapid capital turnover. In conclusion, organic minapadi with integrated management between rice cultivation, fish farming, and aquaponics systems can serve as a productive, efficient, and profitable sustainable agriculture model with good development prospects.

Abstract

Indragiri Hilir Regency, one of Indonesia’s major coconut-producing regions, faces a structural paradox in which high production volumes have not translated into improved farmer welfare. Dependence on the sale of whole coconuts with low added value, coupled with significant price fluctuations, has led to inefficiencies in the commodity’s economic supply chain. Coconut husk, which has long been neglected and treated as waste, in fact holds substantial economic potential through the development of derivative products. This study aims to analyze the feasibility and formulate effective strategies for developing the coconut husk processing industry in Indragiri Hilir Regency. A qualitative approach was employed using SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis, focusing on the BUMDes Sungai Piyat enterprise group as a case study. The analysis reveals that the coconut husk processing enterprise in Kuala Indragiri District possesses strong and promising internal conditions, with an IFAS score of 2.73 and a strength–weakness differential of 1.91. The main strengths include the abundance of derivative products (coco peat and cocobristle), ease of production processes, and the use of semi-modern technology that enhances efficiency. Meanwhile, the EFAS score of 2.32, with an opportunity–threat differential of 1.48, indicates substantial external support, particularly due to limited competition, sustainable raw material supply, a growing regional economy, and institutional backing. The combination of these scores places the enterprise in Quadrant V (Grow and Build Strategy) of the Internal–External (IE) Matrix, recommending the adoption of an aggressive growth strategy. Key strategic directions include increasing production capacity, expanding market networks, strengthening institutional partnerships, and diversifying value-added products to promote sustainability and enhance contributions to the local economy and the empowerment of coastal communities in Indragiri Hilir.

Abstract

In recent years, the trend of consuming natural-based health products has increased, encouraging the exploration of butterfly pea flowers as a raw material for functional beverage products such as kombucha. Butterfly pea flower kombucha is an innovative alternative that combines the benefits of fermentation with the richness of bioactive compounds from butterfly pea flowers. This study aims to assess the potential of kombucha products made from butterfly pea flowers (Clitoria ternatea L.) through a case study of the Ximbucha MSME in Bandung and Tasikmalaya. The methods used in this study are Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) for supply chain process mapping, Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) for strategic prioritization, and SWOT analysis. The results show that the potential of kombucha products is evident in the development of a supply chain that relies on upstream-downstream actor collaboration, operational efficiency, and the use of data-driven technology. Recommended strategies include strengthening partnerships with butterfly pea flower farmers, optimizing logistics, and utilizing digitalization in promotions and customer management.

Abstract

Hegarmanah Village is the largest rice producer in the Jatinangor Sub-district due to its geographical characteristics that are well-suited for rice cultivation. Despite having favorable geographical features such as suitable soil types and supportive weather, the area is not formally designated for agricultural use but rather for non-agricultural purposes. This has led to a continuous annual decline in rice field area due to land-use conversion. This study aims to identify the factors influencing farmers’ decisions to sustain rice farming amid this phenomenon. A quantitative method was employed using multiple linear regression analysis. The results show that personal, social, economic, and physical factors collectively influence farmers’ decisions to sustain rice farming in Hegarmanah Village. Partially, personal factors (farming experience and personal motivation), social factors (family tradition), economic factors (demand, costs, and income), and physical factors (climate and soil characteristics) were found to have a significant influence on the decision to continue rice farming in Hegarmanah Village.

Abstract

Large red chili peppers are an important horticultural commodity for the Indonesian economy, but Panyusuhan Village in Cianjur Regency still faces fluctuating productivity and tends to be below the district average. This study aims to analyze the effect of fertilizer use on the production of large red chili peppers with a quantitative approach through a survey of 30 farmers selected through a simple random sampling technique. The data were analyzed using the Cobb-Douglas production function as well as the classical assumption test (R2, F test, and t test). The results of the study showed that the production factors used by farmers were generally in accordance with the recommendations, with an R2 valueof 0.973 which means that the independent variable in the study could explain 97.3% of production variations. The F test showed that all variables had a significant effect simultaneously, while the t test revealed that the NPK fertilizer variable had a partial significant effect, while the manure variable partially had an effect but not significantly on the production of large red chilies.

Abstract

Urban agriculture is the practice of carrying out agricultural activities within urban areas. Projects serve as one of the tools to address economic, social, and environmental challenges occurring in cities. More specifically, urban farming projects are implemented to enhance food supply in urban areas, improve environmental quality, and empower local communities. The urban farming program in DKI Jakarta Province is guided by the “Desain Besar Pertanian Perkotaan tahun 2018-2030”, which sets the target of utilizing 30% of green open space for productive purposes and fulfilling 30% of the demand for vegetables through local production. This study aims to analyze the implementation of urban farming projects by assessing their financial and economic feasibility, as well as identifying their role in supporting women’s empowerment in Cengkareng Barat and Duri Kosambi sub-districts. The research employs descriptive analysis, cost benefit analysis (CBA), and the Likert scale. The results indicate that urban agriculture programs in Kelurahan Cengkareng Barat dan Duri Kosambi have been implemented in accordance with local government policies, although challenges remain. Financial and economic feasibility analysis shows that the programs are viable, with positive Net Present Value (NPV) and a Benefit-Cost Ratio (BCR) greater than one, meaning that the benefits outweigh the costs. Socially, urban agriculture contributes significantly to women’s empowerment by providing additional income, enhancing technical skills, building self-confidence, and encouraging active participation in community groups. It also strengthens women’s roles in environmental sustainability through eco-friendly farming practices.

Abstract

Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the food sector play an important role in the national food system, but often face challenges in implementing product quality and safety standards. One strategy to enhance MSMEs' capacity to implement food safety is the launch of the “Safe Food Goes to Campus” (PAGC) program by the Indonesian Food and Drug Administration (BPOM), which involves students as mentors for food MSMEs in the implementation of Good Manufacturing Practices for Processed Foods (GMP-P). This study aims to evaluate the role of students in improving the quality of Kebabfactory products through training, production facility improvements, and documentation guidance. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design, utilizing data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using NVivo software to systematically map the findings. The results of the study indicate that student involvement has a positive impact on improving business operators' understanding of quality standards, the implementation of good production practices, and increased consumer confidence in the products. However, the study also identified challenges faced by business operators, namely the relatively short duration of the training, which prevented the material from being fully applied across all aspects of production.
