Abstract

The implementation of this research is to answer three questions, including: (1) measuring the score of the Food Security Index (IKP) in the Besuki Residency, (2) mapping the distribution of priority areas for food insecurity in the Besuki Residency, and (3) providing recommendations for overcoming food insecurity problems. The data used is secondary data collected from the publications of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the Health Service, and the Ministry of Home Affairs. Analysis of the score of the Food Security Index uses seven indicators that are classified into three aspects, namely aspects of food availability, aspects of food accessibility, and aspects of food utilization. The determination of priority groups for vulnerable category areas refers to the cut-off point of the Food Security Index. Determination of recommendations for handling the vulnerable category areas using quantitative and qualitative approaches. The results of the study showed that: (1) the score of the Food Security Index in Besuki Residency area is 85.28 and this score is included in resistant category (fifth priority), (2) the distribution of priorities for vulnerable category areas in Besuki Residency area is divided into three categories, namely very vulnerable, vulnerable and slightly vulnerable, and (3) there are programs that have been implemented by the East Java Provincial Government as an effort to overcome for vulnerable areas. However, in its implementation, it is still necessary to pay attention to the equity in all regions by considering the various conditions and resources of each region. In addition, there is a need for integrated supervision in its implementation, so that the policy can take place more measurably.

Abstract

Indonesia and Madagascar are world clove exporting countries, with India as the leading export destination and having quite a high demand.   This research aims to comparatively analyze the competitiveness of Indonesian and Madagascar cloves in the Indian market using the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) analysis tool, and the relationship between export value and volume to RCA is calculated using the Pearson product-moment correlation analysis technique 2012-2021. Research results show that the average RCA value for Indonesia is more excellent, 4.29, compared to Madagascar's 2.31, in 2012-2021, so cloves from Indonesia are more competitive than Madagascar cloves in India. The volume and value of clove exports to India from 2012 to 2021 had a strong and significant effect on the RCA value in Indonesia, while in Madagascar, it had no effect on the RCA value or a negative relation and was not significant.

Abstract

Areca nut is a plant from Palmaceae that can be utilized as industrial raw materials, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and textile dyes. Areca nut is one of the leading commodities in Indonesia's export activities. One of the countries that has great potential to become an areca export market is India. India is one of the largest areca importing countries in the world due to the high demand for areca in the country. The high level of competition today means that Indonesia must constantly improve its competitiveness to become a market leader. The purpose of this study is to analyze the level of competitiveness of Indonesian areca exports from 2003 to 2022 in the Indian market and analyze Indonesia's position as an exporter of areca nut or an importer of areca nut. The methods used for competitiveness analysis are Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) and Index of Trade Specialization (ISP). The results showed that the highest RCA value was in Myanmar at 146.33, in second place was Indonesia at 18.84, followed by Thailand 9.22, Singapore at 0.75, and in the last position was Malaysia at 0.32, although it has a different value but the five countries have a comparative advantage because the RCA value> 0. In the ISP analysis during 2013-2022 the highest value was in Indonesia at 0.999, followed by Myanmar 0.9786, Thailand 0.7108, Malaysia at 0.2134, and Malaysia at 0.2134, and finally Singapore at -0.0099. Indonesia and Myanmar are at the maturity stage, Thailand at the growth stage, Malaysia at the import substitution stage, and Singapore at the introduction stage. In an effort to increase the competitiveness of areca exports, it is necessary to increase production, in terms of quality and quantity, strengthen the supply chain, maintain price stability, trade policies, export regulations, and the role of the government in negotiating tariffs for entry fees to export destination countries.

Abstract

In the midst of unstable rubber prices, rubber farm laborers in Baturaden Village still depend on the wage system that is applied. There are two categories of wage systems, the first 1:1 and 1:2. Of course there is a classification in determining the two wage systems which both have advantages and disadvantages. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of family economic welfare and income inequality between farm laborers with a 1:1 and 1:2 wage system. The research location was purposively selected because most of the people in Baturaden Village work as farm laborers. The research method used was survey method with sampling method using stratified random sampling. Data collection used primary data obtained from interviews and secondary data collected from BPS, Baturaden Village Office, etc. The data was processed using the 2015 BPS indicators to measure the level of welfare and the gini ratio to measure the level of income inequality among farm laborers. Based on the results, it was found that the welfare level of each farm laborer was moderate and so was the income inequality which was also in the moderate category. This is because farm laborers have turned their brains to look for side jobs to meet the economic needs of their families. because if they continue to rely only on income as rubber farm laborers they claim to have difficulty meeting household needs where the price of basic goods is getting more and more expensive.

Abstract

The efficiency of rice farming and increasing farmers' income requires new innovations to be developed in society, such as organic-based farming. Based on this, for the development of sustainable organic rice agribusiness, it is necessary to build a Sustainable Organic Rice Agribusiness Model through a systems approach based on a strategic approach to each subsystem which includes input subsystem, farming subsystem, handling/processing and marketing subsystem, as well as supporting subsystems to achieve objectives. The development of organic rice agribusiness can be achieved more effectively and optimally to increase food security while supporting sustainable agriculture. Analysis of the performance of the agribusiness system and the sustainability of organic rice agribusiness is carried out using descriptive methods which are applied to describe the characteristics of farmers and the performance of each subsystem in the organic rice agribusiness system. Structural Equation Model (SEM) analysis was used to answer the research objectives. The calculation results show that the GoF value is 0.75. The level of sustainability of Pangandaran organic rice agribusiness obtained an average total percentage score of 62.85%, this means that the level of sustainability of rice agribusiness is quite good.

Abstract

Chili is one of the horticultural commodities that have high economic value and very volatile . Red chili production is concentrated on the islands of Sumatra and Java. When there is an imbalance in supply and consumption, it causes parts of Indonesia to have excess or shortage of red chili, which causes inter-provincial trade that causes market integration. The purpose of this study was to analyze the determinant  of the red chili spatial market integration in Indonesia. The  data used in this research was secondary data calculated using multiple regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that the factors that determine the spatial market integration of red chili in Indonesia are the population of the original province, the amount of red chili production in the province of destination, and the price of the fuel in the destination province.
