Abstract

The incorporation of multicultural values ​​in Islamic education textbooks needs to be fostered as the endeavor to raise Muslim’s inclusive religious awareness. In response to this growing need, this study describes the highlight of multicultural education and multicultural values-based learning materials of Islamic education as well as well-planned learning processes. Grounded in a qualitative explorative descriptive study, it provides a comprehensive content analysis of Islamic education textbooks reinforced with a phenomenological approach. The primary sources of research were Islamic education textbooks for tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades in secondary high schools located in Salatiga, Central Java, Indonesia. Secondary sources were obtained through in-depth interviews with the teachers and students. Findings of this study demonstrate that firstly, not only did the textbooks cover the transfer of knowledge, but they also promoted multicultural values, so that the students upheld their cultural identities. Secondly, the learning materials introduced not only ritualistic symbols, but also the relationship between religious symbols and the existing reality. It encourages the students to think inclusively regarding unity in diversity. Finally, multicultural values embedded in the learning process involved tolerance, harmony, a culture of mutual respect, democracy, and maintenance of faith with good morality in social solidarity and interaction.

Abstract

Despite being widely investigated in the realm of educational institutions, quality management along with quality assurance in a madrasa setting receives scanty attention. To fill this gap, the present study attempts to showcase design and implementation of educational quality management performed in a public primary madrasa situated in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It looks at quality assurance in character building, educational management, teaching and learning processes, and human resources management in this madrasa. Grounded in a qualitative case study, in-depth interviews with the madrasa principal and head of student affairs as well as observation were carried out to garner data. The findings of the study demonstrated that the madrasa designed stages of quality management, namely: planning, organizing, mobilizing, supervising, developing, and evaluating. The implementation of this design used bottom-up, transparent, and accountable system, accompanied by a clear job description in each position so that it provided optimal education services. Additionally, the quality assurance coped with character building, internal and external audit, teaching and learning innovations, and quality development of the teacher and academic staffs. The study also promoted that this madrasa designed the concept of children-friendly school aiming to provide a comfortable learning environment for all the madrasa members.

Abstract

Konsep safety school bermula dari fenomena kenakalan remaja, seperti, adanya peserta didik membolos, terlambat, merokok, narkoba, razia gawai, berkembangnya paham radikalisme, dan lemahnya pemahaman tentang wawasan kebangsaan. Untuk merespon fenomena tersebut, dua sekolah menengah pertama negeri di Lombok, Indonesia, hadir sebagai madrasah yang membangun pendidikan zero accident. Didasari dengan studi kasus kualitatif, penelitian ini mengeksplorasi bagaimana dua madrasah tersebut melakukan langkah prefentif terhadap kenakalan peserta didik melalui konsep safety school, sehingga tidak kehilangan identitasnya sebagai lembaga pendidikan yang menjunjung tinggi nilai spritualitas. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dan observasi. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dalam menjawab tantangan ini, dua madrasah permodelan tersebut telah menyusun dan mengembangkan inovasi safety school tidak hanya didukung inovasi fisik, seperti fasilitas CCTV, security, tembok pembatas, tata tertib yang ditentukan, dan penataan bangunan madrasah tetapi juga ditopang dengan inovasi nonfisik, yaitu: spritual learning. Penelitian ini juga mempromosikan bahwa spiritual learning pada kedua madrasah ini direalisasikan dalam seperangkat komponen program keagamaan, seperti shalat dhuha dan dhuhur berjamaah, gerakan bina lingkungan, program one day one ayat, penguatan tartil dan tahfiz al-Qur'an, program Imtaq (iman dan taqwa), community-based madrasah, dan pemanfaatan laboratorium agama.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan urgensi materi maqashid al-syariah dalam mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) dan usaha yang bisa dilakukan guru dalam mentransformasikan nilai-nilai maqashid al-syariah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis library research. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pertama, urgensi materi maqashid al-syariah dalam mata pelajaran PAI adalah untuk menanamkan pemikiran dan pemahaman yang baik dan benar kepada para peserta didik tentang tujuan pokok dari ditetapkannya syariat Islam, yaitu: memelihara agama, jiwa, akal, keturunan, dan harta benda. Kelima hal inilah yang menjadi substansi ajaran al-Qur’an dan Hadits yang akan mengantisipasi para peserta didik terpengaruh oleh paham intoleransi dan radikalisme agama. Kedua, usaha yang bisa dilakukan oleh guru PAI dalam mentransformasikan nilai-nilai maqashid al-syariah kepada para siswa antara lain: guru PAI harus mampu memahami konsep maqashid al-syariah sebagai tujuan utama pensyariatan dari setiap ajaran Islam termasuk yang terkadung dalam materi PAI, guru PAI harus mampu menguasai konsep tentang sabab al-nuzul dari suatu ayat atau sabab al-wurud dari suatu hadits, sehingga dalam memahami dan menyampaikan ayat al-Qur’an atau Hadits tidak terjebak hanya pada tataran tekstual semata, dan guru PAI harus mampu memiliki pengetahuan yang luas tentang tafsir al-Qur’an mu’tabar sehingga mampu memberikan sebuah simpulan tentang hikmah al-tasyri’ yang bermuara pada maqashid al-syariah.

Abstract

The present study aims to describe the process of development, quality, assessment, and students’ learning behavior toward Powtoon-mediated interactive multimedia for the Qur’an and Hadith. Grounded in R&D (Research and Development), data were garnered through validation, questionnaire, as well as observation. The collected data then were analyzed by using content analysis and descriptive analysis. Study findings expose that first, the stages of interactive multimedia design included identifying the potential and problems of learning the Qur’an and Hadith, collecting the lesson material of the Qur’an and Hadith for seventh graders of junior secondary school, designing products based on learning objectives, having the design validated by experts, revising the design on expert recommendations, managing a product trial on a small group, revising products, and carrying out a product trial on a large group. Second, the first assessment of the teaching media expert was considered good (82%), and the second one was considered very good (92%). Meanwhile, the first assessment of the teaching material expert was considered good enough (70%), and the second one was considered very good (90%). Lastly, the assessment of both small and large group was considered good. The study contributes to novel practical insights on the design of Powtoon-featured interactive multimedia as an endeavor to foster the students’ learning behavior in the material. This study also demonstrates that the student learning behavior was leveraged, particularly in the aspects of attitudes, habits, as well as learning interest.

Abstract

In more recent years, religious literacy among students is assumed to be low. There is also limited amount of research has been conducted on this area. This study aims to find out the practice of religious literacy movements among students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. This study belongs to qualitative research and uses case study as its research design. The data were collected through interview, observation, and documentation. The result shows that the optimization of religious literacy movement among students can be built through clear programs and regulations, adequate facilities, and measurable learning. The construction of Albert Bandura's social learning model also applied in the religious literacy movement among students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. It includes modeling, stimulating, learning from reality or experience, as well as being dialogical and not patronizing. The religious literacy movement of students can be categorized into optimal when the students have the character of "RAPI", which consists of Ramah (friendly), Aman (safe), Prestasi (achievement), Islami (Islamic). This study contributes to describe the importance of prioritizing religious literacy movement because it can build intelligent students and quality generations.

Abstract

Leadership is one of crucial things in an education management. It also happens in Islamic higher education institutions, especially in the case of its personnel management. This study aims to describe the leadership style in a personnel management of an Islamic higher education institution in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This study belongs to qualitative research by using interview and observation in collecting the data. The obtained data then validated by triangulation and descriptively analyzed to produce relevant interpretation of the data. This research comes into a conclusion that the education success is not only measured from the class management, curriculum, students and so on, but also its personnel management. This study promotes that leadership in personnel management of Islamic higher Education needs good leadership style which based on the principle of siddiq, amanah, tabligh, and fathonah. It can be applied through recruitment, development, promotion and transfer, dismissal, compensation, as well as evaluation of employee performance.

Abstract

Pendidikan di Indonesia belum sepenuhnya menjawab permasalahan sosial masyarakat yang ada. Oleh karena itu, perlu adanya peningkatan kualitas pendidikan untuk menangani hal tersebut. Gagasan KH. Ahmad Dahlan dan Paulo Freire bisa dijadikan model dalam implementasi pendidikan agar bisa menjawab permasalahan sosial kehidupan masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan perbandingan pemikiran KH. Ahmad Dahlan dan Paulo Freire yang meliputi gagasan besar konsep pendidikan dan implementasinya dalam pembelajaran yang memuat strategi, pendekatan dan metode. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi literature. Data dikumpulkan melalui penelusuran terhadap artefak, dokumen serta artikel ilmiah yang relevan dengan pokok bahasan penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian ini adalah, meskipun mereka hidup di tempat dan masa yang berbeda, namun peneliti menemukan empat persinggungan pemikiran keduanya. Pertama, pada gagasan besar baik KH. Ahmad Dahlan ataupun Paulo Freire menggunakan konsep pendidikan kritis. Kedua, Strategi yang digunakan oleh mereka untuk mengimplementasikan gagasan pendidikan adalah strategi authentic learning. Mereka membawa muridnya untuk membaca fenomena nyata yang dialami. Ketiga, keduanya memilih pendekatan student center learning. Keempat, metode yang mereka gunakan adalah dialog dengan para muridnya. Keempat persinggungan tersebut memiliki relevansi dengan pelaksanaan pendidikan Indonesia saat ini. Secara konseptual, strategi, pendekatan dan metode yang digunakan kedua tokoh di atas terwakili dengan adanya Kurikulum 2013.

Abstract

R.A. Kartini dikenal sebagai tokoh emansipasi wanita di Indonesia. Perjuangan seorang Kartini ternyata tidak hanya sebatas memperjuangkan kaum wanita yang terkungkung oleh adat pada masa itu, tetapi juga berpikir tentang perkembangan pendidikan di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pemikiran Kartini tentang hukuman dalam pendidikan dan relevansinya dengan pendidikan Islam. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode induktif dan masuk ke dalam kategori penelitian kepustakaan. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini menggunakan teknik dokumentasi dalam pengumpulan datanya. Sumber data utama dalam penelitian ini adalah buku Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang yang diterbitkan oleh penerbit Narasi Yogyakarta tahun 2018. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kartini menyetujui penerapan hukuman dalam dunia pendidikan. Meskipun demikian, Kartini menolak adanya penerapan hukuman yang melibatkan kekerasan fisik seperti pukulan dan siksa badan. Hal ini dikarenakan penerapan hukuman fisik tidak dapat memberikan edukasi yang baik pada peserta didik, namun justru dapat menimbulkan rasa dendam dan rendah diri. Secara keseluruhan dapat disimpulkan bahwa dalam pemberian hukuman kepada peserta didik, pemikiran Kartini masih relevan dengan konsep pendidikan Islam karena sebagian besar para tokoh pendidikan Islam masih memberikan lampu hijau terhadap pelaksanaan hukuman dalam pendidikan.

Abstract

Education objective is one of inseparable parts of education implementation, including Islamic education. The absence of concrete and measurable objectives of Islamic Education is one of the reasons why this study is conducted. This study aims to provide new breakthrough in the case of Islamic education objectives based on the concept of Mabādi 'Khaira Ummah. This kind of concept is a principle used in the social field triggered by one of Islamic organizations in Indonesia, NU, which is considered relevant to be used as a reference in formulating the objectives of Islamic education. This study belongs to qualitative approach and library research method. The data were collected by collecting some related references. The collected data then analyzed to be formulated into objectives of Islamic Education. As a result, this study provides a conclusion that the objective of Islamic education is creating honest, trustworthy, honorable, fair, helpful, as well as generous students.
