The culture of Serambeak has been a system for the continuation of Islamic education since Islam came and entered the life of Rejang community. The content of Tauhid educational values in Serambeak culture is the spark of the Rejang community's needs. To reveal the main points of this study, the researcher used qualitative methods with a descriptive-analytic approach to collect, analyse, and interpret to produce valid research. The findings concluded the following: First, the values of Tauhid education in Serambeak are an effort to accommodate Islamic education to local culture, demonstrating a good acculturation process of local culture. Second, by using Serambeak as a local culture with its literary beauty, the Rejang community is more likely to accept the values of Tauhid education brought by Islam as a foreign religion. Third, the Serambeak culture's values of Tauhid education state that God, Tauhid affirmation, God's power, God's perfection, the creator of the universe, and the nature of divinity as the cultivation of good and actual Tauhid teachings. Fourth, the values of Tauhid education are an attempt to erode and erase the beliefs of animism and dynamism that have been so strong and rooted in the life of the Rejang people. They are very effectively changed using the arguments of belief.

The spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) has brought various drastic changes to human life, one of which is the mode of learning that should be transformed into an online mode. However, the complexities of online learning leave some problems. Thus, this qualitative study aimed to investigate the online learning processes, problems, and the principal’s solutions at MA Muhammmadiyah Kampung Delima, Rejang Lebong, Bengkulu Province. The principal and five selected teachers were involved as the participants. The data were garnered from interviews and observations, and the data were further analyzed using an interactive model. The findings demonstrated that the school, in general, had implemented online learning processes based on the school and teachers’ existing and general competencies. However, there were some problems therein, including ineffective delivery of materials, inadequate technological facilities of students, students’ lack of discipline, and unstable internet networks. To overcome such problems, the principal arranged assistance from the government to benefit from online learning and actively encouraged teachers to establish communication with parents. As an implication, the curricular contents of teacher education in the Indonesian context should be more sensitive to the discourse of TPACK. Further studies are expected to work on the principal’s managerial role in online learning by involving the principles from various schools.

Chronological thinking skills are one of the most critical goals in learning history, distinguishing it from other sciences. This skill is not a natural skill that already exists in students but is a skill that needs to be developed in students, especially in studying history. This study aims to develop an instrument for assessing chronological thinking skills with the Rasch model. The development model adopted the Gall Borg development model by adjusting to the research objectives and needs. The adaptation of the Borg Gall model resulted in four stages in this study: (1) needs analysis and preliminary investigation, (2) planning and preparation of product development, (3) expert validation, and (4) instrument implementation. This research was conducted in Senior High School (SMA), involving 120 students from three schools. Sampling was carried out employing the proportional sampling technique. The data was collected using validation sheets, tests, and assessment sheets (scoring rubric). Data analysis was then performed with the Quest Program utilizing the Partial Credit Model (PCM). The results showed that the chronological thinking skills assessment instrument with the Rasch model was valid and reliable. The validity value of items that fit the model ranged from 0.77 to 1.30, and the instrument reliability value of 0.76 was in the high category. Therefore, it could be concluded that the assessment instrument developed can measure students' chronological thinking skills.

The current study aimed at analyzing an English textbook titled English Alive used by English teachers from some senior high schools in Curup, Bengkulu, Indonesia. The textbook analysis was oriented towards two domains, namely genres and lexical density, by applying a content analysis method. This study revealed that the English Alive textbook had five genres: reading materials in the narrative, report, analytical exposition, spoof, and hortatory exposition. Those genres were embedded in sixteen passages distributed to the entire textbook, and those passages were mapped into ten units. Lexical density measurement indicated that most of the passages were categorized as easy to be comprehended, and a few passages were categorized as too easy to be comprehended. However, text genres in this textbook did not sufficiently conform to the distribution of English reading materials as suggested by the K-13 curriculum. Some reading passages did not seem contributive to students’ English acquisition according to comprehensible input theory and other related findings. Hence, the English Alive textbook could be used in today’s context and needs as supplementary material, but the primary reading materials should be resting upon K-13-driven English textbooks. Strength and weaknesses were also identified from the English Alive textbook. The former could be noted that this textbook adopted the constructivism theory and genre-based approach properly. However, the latter indicated that the provision of genre materials did not entirely conform to essential competencies formulated in the current K-13 curriculum of English education. Further studies could analyze more textbooks to help teachers choose appropriate English textbooks.

Technological advances and life dynamics that are changing so fast and so volatile become challenges for teachers to implement their best learning model at every level of education. The study aims to explore the perception and readiness of teachers in conducting adaptive learning in pandemic times. A qualitative research method with thematic content analysis models was used to answer these objectives. A total of 327 respondents who worked as teachers were involved in filling out online questionnaires, and the selection of respondents was carried out with purposive sampling techniques. The results show a diverse perception of respondents regarding changes that occurred in the learning process, and the perception of those changes must be faced with readiness and adaptive. Teachers' readiness could be seen from their strategies that were quite effective in dealing with existing changes. These results also emphasize that respondents realized that face-to-face learning was still considered adaptive learning for them to deliver the material. Meanwhile, teachers felt that an adaptive learning guide was needed to guide the learning process when the change occurred. This study provides a clear picture of the learning concepts needed now and is an early indicator informing adaptive learning guidebooks.

The writing process approach (WPA) is a way to solve the problems of how the students express their ideas in producing essays systematically. The use of WPA needs to be examined from the students' perceptions because students' perception of the use of WPA influences students' writing ability. This study aims to investigate the students' perceptions on the application of WPA in EFL writing classes. This study applied a qualitative approach using a questionnaire and semi-structured interview with a written list of questions as a guide which focused on students' perceptions in the application of the WPA in their writing class. The data of the interview was analyzed by qualitative by using content analysis. The questionnaire results showed that most students had a highly positive and positive perception, while no students had a negative perception of the application of WPA based on the percentages. The results of interviews were concluded in four themes. Firstly, most students reported that they have highly positive opinions on WPA and considered the planning. Secondly, peer feedback is revising strategies as most useful. Thirdly, they stated that the steps in WPA were specific, systematic, and helpful. Lastly, they perceived that their writing product had improved after the application of WPA in writing class. The findings from the interviews corresponded with the findings from the questionnaire, which revealed that students had positive perceptions on the application of WPA in writing class; therefore, WPA can be suggested as the alternative approach to improve students' writing ability.
