This research was to know students' achievement and improvement risk-taking attitudes in grade 7 at Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Bekasi City towards mathematics through Inquiry-Based Open-Ended (IBOE) learning. This research is quantitative research with the research design Non-equivalent Pre and Post-test Control-Group Design. There are 156 students as a sample. It was taken using the purposive sampling technique from two Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs). Seventy-seven students in the experimental class (IBOE) and 79 students in the control class (Direct Learning: DL). They were grouped according to previous mathematics abilities (level high, medium, and low). The instrument used was a questionnaire consisting of 17 valid statements adopted from the Domain-Specific Risk-Taking (DOSPERT) scale. The results of this research were reviewed based on early mathematical skills, achievement of the process of building a risk-taking attitude for MTs students. Students who received IBOE learning were no better than students who received DL. Meanwhile, based on the early mathematical skills, students who increase in building a risk-taking attitude received IBOE learning was better than students who received DL.

This article aims to determine Android-based digital calistung game application's effectiveness to improve early childhood cognitive skills. The experimental method was carried out on 26 kindergarten students aged 5-6 years. The research design used was pre-experimental. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling. Cognitive skill data collection used observation guidelines consisting of cognitive dimensions (1) symbolic thinking recognizing concepts, (2) learning problem solving and cause and effect, (3) association and classification. The assessment of cognitive skills used a scale of 1 - 4. The study results concluded an increase in the average value of cognitive skills of kindergarten students aged 5-6 years through the Calistung game. This research implies that teachers' competence in using digital calistung media needs to be improved through in-service training kindergarten students' cognitive skills.

This research aims to describe the characteristic of mathematics prospective teacher's computational thinking (CT) in solving the geometric pattern problem. The subject consists of 65 preservice mathematics teachers in Universitas in Madiun. The instrument was used in this research are geometric pattern problem tests and interview guidelines. The result shows that are three types of mathematics prospective teachers in solving the problem. First, CT substantial, i.e. prospective mathematics teachers use the conceptual knowledge who collaborated with procedural knowledge exactly. They use mathematics iteration to find the pattern and express them to the general form easily. Second, CT Nominal, i.e. prospective mathematics teachers, use manual ways to solve the pattern problem. They count using numeric, not symbolic, of solving the pattern formed. They can understand the design but can't express it to the mathematics model. Third, CT procedural, i.e. mathematics prospective teacher using the procedural knowledge only, not an expert in concept, and following the steps who teaches from experience before. The recommendation for future research is to develop the research to find the other characters in other mathematics subjects, in other students, to develop the learning models who can embody CT.

This study aims at producing illustrated storybook using local characters that meet the eligibility criteria. Research and development (R D) were employed as the research design adopting the 4D models, consisting of four stages: defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. The defining includes need analysis, content analysis, and specification of objectives. The design contains preparation illustrated storybook, selecting characters, choosing story formats, and pre-designs. Developing involve expert validation on the material, language, media aspects and limited trials. Disseminate was carried out by distributing illustrated storybooks produced in several elementary schools in Merauke district, Papua Province. The results of expert validation and students’ responses indicate that the product developed has obtained the eligible category. Besides, the limited trial results to see the improvement of students’ understanding obtained by the n-gain value between the pretest and post-test were 0.51. It means improving students' understanding after using illustrated storybooks with local characters in the medium category.
