Abstract

Inclusive education is a fundamental right of every child, including those with learning, emotional, or behavioral challenges. However, many early childhood institutions are not formally inclusive. This study aims to explore how a non-inclusive preschool, TK IT Ihya Assunah in Tasikmalaya, implements inclusive classroom management for children with mild to moderate special needs. A qualitative case study approach was employed, involving classroom observations, in-depth interviews with teachers, and documentation analysis. The findings reveal that although the school is not officially inclusive, it adopts inclusive practices through individualized support, structured environments, and responsive teaching strategies. The Beyond Centers and Circle Time (BCCT) learning model is utilized to stimulate child development and foster participation. This study highlights the importance of adaptive management and collaborative support to ensure quality early childhood education for all learners.

Abstract

The phenomenon of human rights violations in Indonesia, such as freedom of expression, rights of minority groups, and violence against women, creates tension between Islamic law and international standards. Although Islamic law teaches the protection of the right to life and social welfare, challenges arise in its implementation in modern society. To create balance, open dialogue and a more inclusive adaptation of Islamic law are needed so that human rights are respected without ignoring Islamic values. The research method is qualitative, with a literature review. As a result, the relationship between Islamic law and human rights, especially in the context of early childhood protection, is complex but not necessarily irreconcilable. While both systems share common goals in promoting the well-being and safety of children, significant tensions arise around issues such as child labor and early marriage, where traditional interpretations of Islamic law may conflict with modern human rights standards like those in the CRC. However, through ongoing dialogue, reinterpretation of Islamic principles in light of contemporary human rights, and legal reform, it is possible to create a legal framework that respects both Islamic values and the universal rights of children. By doing so, societies can ensure that children are protected, nurtured, and allowed to grow in a safe and supportive environment, fulfilling both religious and human rights obligations.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the level of historical awareness among Indonesian university students, focusing on the differences between Malay and Batak students. Historical awareness was measured based on four main components: knowledge of historical events, understanding of historical research methodology, interpretation of historical events, and the perceived usefulness of history. The study involved students from two universities, namely Medan State University representing Malay students and Sumatera University representing Batak students. Data were collected through the administration of a history awareness test using an instrument in the form of multiple-choice questions that had been tested for validity and reliability to ensure the accuracy of the results. Data analysis was conducted by calculating the proportion of average historical awareness scores for each ethnic group. The results showed that Malay students had a higher level of historical awareness compared to Batak students. The T-test indicated that there was no statistically significant difference between the historical awareness of Malay and Minang students (df = 78, sig. value 0.198 > 0.05), suggesting that both groups had comparable levels of historical awareness. The findings provide new insights into how ethnic background influences university students' historical understanding. The results of this study are expected to serve as a basis for the development of a more inclusive and contextualized history education curriculum in Indonesia.

Abstract

The preschool years represent a critical stage in children's cognitive, socio-emotional, linguistic, and psychomotor development, with creativity and giftedness as essential components of early education. However, the current education system lacks comprehensive strategies to effectively integrate language development as a foundational approach to nurturing creativity and talent. This study investigates the relationship between language development and the cultivation of creativity in preschool children through a qualitative methodology incorporating teacher interviews and classroom observations. Thematic analysis was employed to identify patterns in pedagogical practices that promote creativity through linguistic expression. The findings reveal that parental involvement and interactive learning methods foster children's creativity and gifted potential. The novelty of this study lies in its emphasis on linguistic expressions as indicators of cognitive and creative growth, addressing a gap in previous research that has largely overlooked the specific role of language in the development of giftedness during early childhood. These insights offer valuable contributions for educators in designing more effective strategies to enhance preschoolers’ creativity through language development.

Abstract

Reading is a crucial skill that should be learned from an early age, as it plays a vital role in daily life. While most children can easily learn to read, some struggle with the process. Therefore, effective learning media are needed to support children's reading development. This study develops and evaluates an educational game to assist young children in learning to read. Unlike previous studies, the game integrates multiple interactive modes that reinforce word recognition, spelling, and sentence construction through auditory and visual cues. The game features a simple user interface, a collection of 100 open vocabulary words, and three gameplay modes designed to support different aspects of early reading skills. The game's effectiveness was assessed through an experiment involving 12 kindergarten students, divided into a game-playing and a non-game-playing group. The findings indicate that the educational game can enhance kindergarten students' reading skills. Moreover, the game increases students' enthusiasm and motivation for learning to read. However, further improvements, such as additional features and platform expansion, are necessary to make the game more accessible to a broader audience.
