Abstract

Prevention of iron deficiency anemia in Indonesia using ferrous sulfas blood-added tablets started since 1997. But iron deficiency anemia is still high, also in young women. Young women are vulnerable because of rapid growth and unhealthy their consumption patterns, which rarely consume fruits and vegetables that are a source of vitamin C. The purpose of this study was to analyze the addition of vitamin C in iron supplementation + folic acid to serum ferritin levels in adolescents females anemia. This research was an experimental quasi research. Design of research was Randomized Pre Post Test Control Group Design, with Double Blind treatment. This study had one treatment group and one control group, each group of 11 samples. The samples were chosen randomly with inclusion and exclusion. The collected data was processed using SPSS program with the analysis of paired t-test and independent t-test to test the difference of serum ferritin level. The results was showed the characteristics of respondents: age (p = 0.430), education of mother (p = 0.942) and nutritional knowledge of respondents (p = 0.928) in the same condition or both groups were had homogeneous characteristics. The pattern and level of food consumption were showed no different between control and traetment groups (p> 0.05). Serum ferritin levels showed difference between the two groups after treatment (p = 0.004). The study was showed vitamin C had role in increasing iron absorption and fill in storage of ferritin formation. Keywords: Anemia, Vitamin C, Iron supplement, Ferritin

Abstract

Implementation of health information systems (HIS) has resulted in multiple duties for health professionals as health care workers and HIS operators. This dual task can lead to increased effort for them, which can lead to resistance to HIS, either actively or passively. Both must be handled seriously because it often leads to the failure of HIS implementation. Meanwhile, passive resistance must be cautioned because in the early stages it is usually unknown to managers that it fails to be anticipated and worsens. As a strategic solution, organizations must always maintain and improve organizational support for users. Keywords: Health information systems, Passive resistance, Organizational support

Abstract

Prognosis of cancer depends on variables, other factors, the stage of cancer, the biological warfare and general conditions when the cancer is diagnosed. Social status, economic status, and demographic issues choose in determining the stage of cancer when the patient first comes to the hospital. The purpose of this study to examine the role, nutritional status, and family history with breast cancer patients in Dr. Soetomo hospital. The study conducted in this study was a non-reactive or non-intrusive method. The sample in the analysis using simple random sampling with sample size of 95 patients. Does not contain the effect of variables associated with grade of breast cancer with p-value 0.795. While for variable of nutritional status and family history with cancer to breast cancer level with p-value 0.033 and 0.005. The p-value in the fitting information table was 0.003 model which contains not only the intercept that was not displayed. The value of Nagelkerke 0.157 or 15.7% means that variable cost, nutritional status and family history with cancer can be used only by 15.7%. From the existing variables was 2 significant variables, namely nutritional status with p-value 0.033 and family history with cancer with p-value 0.005. While time did not significantly influence breast cancer rate with p-value 0.795. Keywords: Grade of breast cancer, Age, Nutritional status, Family history

Abstract

Probiotic play important role on immune systems. This study was to investigate effect of probiotic milk containing L. casei Shirota on immunoglobulin G levels among anemic adolescent girls. A total of 22 adolescent girls aged 13-18 years with anemia were included on this study. The subjects were separated into 2 groups i.e. a probiotic group and a control group by simple random sampling. During 4 weeks, a probiotic group received 1 tablet of 60 Fe elemental + 250 µg folate acid once a week and probiotic milk once daily. While a control group received 1 tablet of 60 Fe elemental + 250 µg folate acid once a week. Blood samples were collected at 0 and 4 weeks and assayed for immunoglobulin G levels by ELISA. Immunoglobulin G levels were not significantly increase after intervention. Compared with control group, probiotic milk administration in probiotic group did not significantly increased immunoglobulin G levels (p>0.05). The probiotic milk containing L. casei Shirota did not improve immunoglobulin G levels on anemic adolescent girls. Keywords: Probiotic, Immunoglobulin G levels, Anemia, Adolescent girls

Abstract

Acute respiratory tract infection is an acute infectious disease that attacks one or more parts of the respiratory tract from the nose (upper channel) to the alveoli (lower channel). According to acute respiratory infection (ARI) upper respiratory tract infection consists of three elements. They are infection, respiratory track and acute infection that is the entry of the microorganism in the body and incubate due to some symptoms. Acute infection is infection that occurred in 14 days. This research aims to describe the relationship between mother behavior (knowledge, attitude and action) with the recurrence of upper respiratory track infection. This research was an analytic survey research with cross sectional study method applying purposive sampling technique. The samples were 171 respondents. The research instrument was a questionnaire, then analyzed using Chi square test. It was concluded that there was a significant relationship between knowledge and the recurrence of ARI. Abstract

The main obstacle to efforts to reduce the incidence of dengue fever due to the still not optimal program of Mosquito Nest Eradication (MNE). MNE is unlikely to be completed if community members reached the smallest neighborhood, ie households did not do it. The success of the termination of the chain of transmission of DHF was closely related to the awareness and responsibility of the community to want to maintain the cleanliness of the house and its environment. The main purpose of this research was to describe the public awareness of MNE DHF. This research used quantitative description approach. In this study as respondents were 332 people who were in Kamal Village, Kamal District. From the results of the study, it was found that most Kamal villagers were at the stage of Naival Consciousness. It was hoped that the community is in the critical consciousness stage to understand their environment. So it needed health education through Health Literacy to increase knowledge which then would generate critical consciousness so that society could do empowerment. Abstract

Diphtheria is still a health problem because it still often causes outbreaks and causes death. All ages can be exposed to diphtheria but most attack children who are not immunized. The case of diphtheria in Central Sulawesi is a rare case. Even in 2015 and 2016 there was no reported diphtheria event but in 2017 there was reported suspect diphtheria. The purpose of this study was to conduct an epidemiology investigation and find additional diphtheria cases in Parigi Moutong District. This was a descriptive study with observation and interview method. Primary and secondary data were collected. Secondary data were obtained from surveillance data and investigation results while the primary data were obtained from interviews on reported probable diphtheria case.No additional cases of diphtheria were found in Parigi Moutong District. The reported case in May 2017 was an 11-year-old primary school student. The presence of diphtheria typical symptoms (bullneck and pseudomembrane) were found on clinical examination. The patient have heart problems before given anti-diphtheria serum by health officer. However, the culture examination showed negative results. The result was allegedly due to errors in the culture examination procedure performed by health officer. Index case or chains of diphtheria transmission cannot be certainly determined, but we suspected the patient’s mother to be the carrier based on history of travelling to diphtheria endemic area. There was 1 probable diphtheria case in Ampibabo Subdistrict of Parigi Moutong District. Training to increase the capacity of health workers in diphtheria management was needed. Keywords: Diphteria, Epidemiology, Investigation, Probable
