Abstract

Probiotic play important role on immune systems. This study was to investigate effect of probiotic milk containing L. casei Shirota on immunoglobulin G levels among anemic adolescent girls. A total of 22 adolescent girls aged 13-18 years with anemia were included on this study. The subjects were separated into 2 groups i.e. a probiotic group and a control group by simple random sampling. During 4 weeks, a probiotic group received 1 tablet of 60 Fe elemental + 250 µg folate acid once a week and probiotic milk once daily. While a control group received 1 tablet of 60 Fe elemental + 250 µg folate acid once a week. Blood samples were collected at 0 and 4 weeks and assayed for immunoglobulin G levels by ELISA. Immunoglobulin G levels were not significantly increase after intervention. Compared with control group, probiotic milk administration in probiotic group did not significantly increased immunoglobulin G levels (p>0.05). The probiotic milk containing L. casei Shirota did not improve immunoglobulin G levels on anemic adolescent girls.  Keywords: Probiotic, Immunoglobulin G levels, Anemia, Adolescent girls

Abstract

Abstrak Air susu ibu (ASI) memiliki banyak manfaat dan dapat memenuhi kebutuhan gizi bayi selama periode 6 bulan pertama kehidupan. Produksi ASI pada ibu menyusui dapat ditingkatkan antara lain dengan konsumsi pangan laktogogum. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh pemberian cookies Galohgor yang mengandung laktagogum terhadap tingkat kecukupan dan status gizi bayi. Penelitian merupakan studi quasi eksperimental. Subjek penelitian merupakan 20 orang ibu postpartum di Kota Bogor. Subjek yang terpilih dikelompokkan menjadi kelompok kontrol (n=11) yang diberikan 40 g cookies tanpa penambahan galohgor dan kelompok cookies galohgor yang diberikan 40 g cookies yang mengandung galohgor selama 14 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kecukupan karbohidrat pada kelompok cookies galohgor lebih besar secara signifikan dibandingkan kelompok kontrol (124,9±32,6% vs. 90,8±31,1%, p<0,05). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bb/u terdapat hubungan yang signifikan terhadap tingkat kecukupan energi dan karbohidrat (p>0,05). Sementara itu, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bb/u bayi pada kelompok galohgor secara signifikan lebih besar dibandingkan kelompok kontrol (3415,5±487,9 g vs. 3190±292,8 g, p<0,05). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian cookies galohgor berpengaruh terhadap tingkat kecukupan energi dan karbohidrat serta peningkatan berat bayi menurut umur. Kata kunci: berat badan bayi, lactagogum, galohgor, ibu postpartum, tingkat kecukupan bayi AbstractBreast milk has many benefits and fulfills the nutritional needs of infants in the first six months of life. Breast milk production of nursing mother could be boosted by consuming lactagogue. This study aimed to analyze the effect of Galohgor lactagogue cookies (GC) on nutrients adequacy level and nutritional status of infants. A quasi-experiment design was used in this study. Subjects of this study were 20 postpartum mothers in Bogor, West Java. The subjects were grouped into a control group (n = 11) given 40 g of cookies without galohgor and a galohgor cookies group given 40 g cookies containing galohgor for 14 days. The result showed that carbohydrate adequacy level of the galohgor cookies group was significantly higher than that in the control group (124.9 ± 32.6% vs 90.8 ± 31.1%, p<0.05). The results showed that weight-for-age was significantly associated with energy and carbohydrate adequacy levels of infants. The results showed that infant weight-for-age in the galohgor cookies group was significantly higher compared to that in the control group (3415.5 ± 487.9 g vs 3190 ± 292.8 g, p<0.05). These results suggested that galohgor cookies has a beneficial effect on energy intake and carbohydrate sufficiency and improve the weight-for-age of the infant. Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to analyze household characteristics in Village Ulu Krui and Village Laay; 2) to analyze knowledge, attitude and pratices of household in water using; 3) to analyze the chemical charactistic of water; and 4) to analyze relation between knowledge and river water usage. The research design is cross sectional. Data was collected by interviewing respondents. Data was analyzed using descriptive and inference statistics. Twenty nine housewife in Village Ulu Krui and twenty housewife in Village Laay were participated as respondents. Results of this research found that the average of family member was four people. Husband age was ranged from twentyfive to seventy three years old. The average of the husband age was fourty four years old. The wife age were range from twenty one to seventy three years old. The average of the wife age was fourty years old. The modus of education of husband was elementry school. The modus of occupation of husband was farmer and farmworker. The level of knowledge in river water usage was low, the level of attitude was moderate, the level of pratices using the river water was good.

Abstract

The present study aims to analyze of relationship of the implementation of balanced nutrition messages family and behavior family nutrition awareness with under five years child nutritional status in West Kalimantan Province. The study uses Health Research Data Base of West Kalimantan Province in year 2007 with the design of cross-sectional study. The total of 1992 household samples were recruited in the study with criteria having child aged 6 to 59 months. Weight for height, weight for age and height for age indicators were used to measure child nutritional status. The results showed that three messages did not meet criteria as required by the Indonesian Food Guideines. Three messages did not meet criteria as required by the Indonesian Food Guidelines. They were eat food withr energy needs requaired, eat half of food sources of carbohydrate for energy needs and eating one of  fourth of food sources of fat for energy needs. Logistic multiple regression analysis showed that failure to follow the the Family Nutrition Awareness had 1.21 risk for children to became stunting than family to follow to guideline properly.

Abstract

The present study aims to analyze of influence maternal education to under five years-old children in West Kalimantan Province. The study uses Health Research Data Base of West Kalimantan Province in year 2007 with the design of cross-sectional study. The total of 1992 household samples were recruited in the study with criteria having child aged 6 to 59 months. Weight for height, weight for age, and height for age indicators were used to measure child nutritional status. The results showed that Logistic multiple regression analysis showed that maternal education under level of junior high school had 1.28 risk for children to become stunting and 1.27 risk for children to become underweight than maternal education level of above junior high school.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze effect of multivitamin mineral supplementation to hemoglobin and hematocrit concentration of Bogor Agricultural University First Common Year female students. Design of this study was the quasi experimental, double blind, with number of subjects were 28 female students devided into two group. The intervention group consisted of 15 subjects, received supplement syrup 15 ml per day for eight weeks.The control group consisted of 13 subjects received placebo syrup. Data collected by interviewing subjects used questionnaire, physical examination, and blood biomarkers. The results of statistical test (paired sample t-test) showed that there were no significant increase in hemoglobin and hematocrit concentration respectively in both intervention and control groups (p>0.05). However, on a subset of subjects anemia, the hemoglobin and hematocrit in the intervention group tended to increase larger than the control group.

Abstract

The objective of the study was to analyze the differences of applying educational media to change mother’s knowledge and attitude on the breakfast of the elementary school children in Bogor District. The study was a quasy experimental study. Subjects in this research were 225 mothers of elementary school children in the nine villages in Bogor District. Nutrition education media used for this study were power point slides, flip charts, and combination of the power point slides and leaflets. Score of knowledge and attitude on breakfast increased significantly after the intervention. ANOVA analysis results on knowledge and attitude on the breakfast showed better improvement for the combination of power point slides and leaflets. The proportion of knowledge and attitude of the mothers increased after the intervention. The combination of the power point slides and leaflets was the type of educational media which could increase the rate of mother’s knowledge and attitude score compared to power point slides and flip chart.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of a healthy breakfast campaign on the changes in knowledge, attitudes, and breakfast habits among elementary school children in Bogor District. A quasy experimental study was applied to this study. Subjects in this study were 229 elementary school children in the nine villages in Bogor District. Nutrition education media used in this study were power point, puppets, picture cards, and drama. The school childrens knowledge and attitude showed that there was a significant difference between media intervention of power point, puppet, and drama to picture cards. The highest scores of knowledge (73.23±1.14) and attitude (91.84±1.09) was in picture cards. The percentage of subjects having a habit of breakfast before intervention was 78.2% and increased to 81.7% after intervention. Media intervention by picture cards gave highest change to increased breakfast knowledge, attitude, and habits for elementary school children.

Abstract

Pemerintah Indonesia telah menyusun kebijakan nasional yang membatasi promosi susu formula bayi di kalangan tenaga kesehatan, yang merupakan adopsi dari International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Subtitues. Walaupun telah dikeluarkan kebijakan-kebijakan tersebut, tetapi masih dijumpai berbagai pelanggaran di kalangan tenaga kesehatan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan tindakan bidan terhadap kebijakan menyusui. Desain penelitian ini adalah cross sectional study. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Januari-April 2015 di Kota Bogor. Pada penelitian ini terdiri dari 39 bidan dan 76 ibu bayi. Pengetahuan bidan terhadap isi kebijakan tergolong rendah sedangkan sikap dan tindakan bidan tergolong baik. Variabel-variabel yang menunjukkan hubungan yang signifikan dengan tindakan bidan adalah lama pengalaman praktik, tempat kerja, tingkat pengetahuan dan sikap. Usia dan pendidikan bidan merupakan variabel yang tidak berhubungan signifikan dengan tindakan bidan. Lama pengalaman praktik, tempat kerja, tingkat pengetahuan dan sikap merupakan faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan tindakan bidan terhap pesan-pesan dalam kebijakan.
