Abstract

Leprosy is a chronic granulomatous infectious disease caused by the obligate intracellular organism Mycobacterium leprae. It affects mainly the skin and peripheral nerves. Moreover, it can cause severe physical disabilities and abnormalities. Jember Regency has not reached the Leprosy Elimination status until 2019 because the prevalence rate was still above 1 per 10,000 population. Based on data from the District Health Office of Jember, the findings of leprosy cases in Jember Regency fluctuate every year. The research objective in developing a web-based Geographic Information System was to display information on visualization of leprosy cases; therefore, it could become the basis for policy considerations for leprosy prevention efforts in Jember Regency. The research method was a Rapid Application Development (RAD) system. The research data and information were collected through interviews and document review. This system was designed for helping users have more accessible access to input data and automation of processing into information for users and visitors. Epidemiological interpretation of leprosy on a visual map could determine the magnitude of the case problem and Primary Health Care’s reach in leprosy prevention. Keywords: geographic information system (GIS); elimination; leprosy

Abstract

Breastmilk is the most important food for babies, especially in the first months of their lives. There is usually the problem of milk ejection on the first day after giving birth. The development of the SPEOS Method and the Marmet Technique may be used to aid postpartum women on the breastmilk ejection, considering that the provision of exclusive breastmilk is highly dependent on the first days after birth. This study used the quasi-experiment design with the posttest only design with a control group. The population was postpartum women in the area of Lembeyan Community Health Center with the Consecutive sampling technique. The sample 40 mother (10 mother in in SPEOS group, 10 mothers in Marmet group, 10 mothers in Combination SPEOS and Marmet group, and 10 mother in control group). The independent variable was the combination of the SPEOS Method and the Marmet Technique. The dependent variable was the breastmilk ejection on postpartum women and the increase of the babies’ weight. Breat milk data were collected by questionare and the babies’s weight collected in 7th day. The results of the research showed that the combination of the SPEOS Method and the Marmet Technique is effective in increasing the breastmilk ejection and in increasing the babies' weight, with the significant value of the Manova test (p-value = 0.000). The combination of the SPEOS Method and the Marmet Technique is highly effective in increasing milk production and baby weight. Keywords: SPEOS method; marmet technique; breastmilk expresion; baby weight

Abstract

Article 28 B of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia affirms that children have the right to be protected from discrimination, economic and sexual exploitation, neglect, cruelty, violence, persecution, injustice and other mistreatment. This study aims to 1) Describe child protection policies in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, 2) Describe the children's health protection policy during the covid-19 pandemic. This was a normative legal research conducted by examining library materials or secondary data. It used the statutory approach, with a descriptive method. The policy of protecting children in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic is based on Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection which includes not only protection of the child's body and soul, but also spiritually, physically and socially. However, at the level of implementation, the government is more focused on protecting children from Covid-19 cases and has not been optimal in helping children face the burden of mental health during the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, the government needs to deal with mental health issues for children and adolescents during the pandemic by making regulations that focus on the direction of each policy towards the realization of a society that cares about mental health. Keywords: policy; child mental health; covid-19

Abstract

The high problem of TB in Indonesia is caused by, among other things, case finding and complete treatment, which are less rapid than the spread of the disease. The main goal of treating TB patients is to reduce mortality and morbidity and prevent transmission by curing patients. Characteristics of respondents, duration of TB treatment, resistance and side effects of TB drugs are problems to increase patient compliance in using these TB drugs. Treatment patterns and strategies are important in addressing the use of drugs that are good, correct and safe. The duration of tuberculosis treatment for 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months is the reason for the patient's non-compliance to treatment so that the achievement of successful treatment is difficult to avoid. The use of medicinal herbs as an alternative and to support modern medicine is an option in addressing this problem. Rapid urbanization in developing countries and the economic status of individuals also affect a person's susceptibility to infection. The TB burden follows the socio-economic level. The prevalence of tuberculosis in men is 3 times higher than in women. The same is happening in other countries. This happens because men are more exposed to TB risk factors such as smoking, exposure to air in the work environment and lack of non- compliance to taking medication. The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of tuberculosis patients in carrying out treatment and patient compliance with the use of synthetic drugs and medicinal herbs in the city of Makassar. The type of research is quantitative research with a cross sectional study design. This study uses a survey method using a questionnaire instrument. The sample size in this study was 200 respondents. Statistical processing and analysis were univariate and multivariate. The results showed that there was a correlation between the socioeconomic characteristics of the respondents towards TB treatment using synthetic drugs and medicinal herbs and the level of adherence was still low. Keywords: characteristics; patient compliance; tuberculosis
