Abstract

Numeracy literacy is crucial because it can help someone understand the role or usefulness of mathematics in their daily lives. Therefore, it is necessary to research to improve students' numeracy literacy. The purpose of this research is to take action and analyze the use of the PBL model with scaffolding to improve students' numeracy literacy. Classroom action research with Kurt Lewwin model which consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques using tests and observation sheets. The data analysis technique used was qualitative and quantitative analysis. The subjects of this study were students of class VII-D at SMP Negeri 5 Cimahi. Data analysis can be concluded that Problem-Based Learning with Scaffolding can improve numeracy literacy, in cycle 1, we obtained an average value of 65 with a completeness rate of 50% which amounted to 20 students, and those who did not complete there were 20 students or 50%. While in cycle 2, the average score was 73.5 with a 70% completeness rate totaling 28 students and 12 students or 30% were not complete. With the application of the Problem-Based Learning model with Scaffolding, students are more active in participating in the learning process than before the action is given.

Abstract

This study aims to quantitatively investigate the spatial ability differences between male and female students to provide empirical evidence. In this study, 36 high school students took the sample. Spatial ability tests are used to gather data about student spatial abilities. The data is then analyzed using a T-test to test the hypothesis. The results of the study showed that there were significant differences between the spatial abilities of male and female students, and in general or as per gender, the student's space capacity was still low. Factors that may influence significant gender differences are biological and social-cultural, while the student's spatial abilities are still low because the students are not accustomed to getting training on issues related to space abilities. The use of learning media for student spatial abilities is not optimal.

Abstract

The use of technology in learning has become inevitable in modern education. It plays an important role in optimizing the learning process, including in the context of mathematics learning. This study aims to describe the optimization of mathematics learning outcomes using Artificial Intelligence technology. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The instruments used were tests and interviews. The data collected was then analyzed using the interactive model analysis flow developed by Miles and Huberman, namely reducing data, presenting data, and verifying/concluding. The results showed that by using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in the learning process, lecturers can provide experiences tailored to students' individual needs, improve their understanding of mathematical concepts, and provide fast and precise feedback. Thus, the use of AI technology can optimize mathematics learning.

Abstract

The Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach is one of the approaches that seeks to link mathematical concepts with situations that are relevant and meaningful to students, thus helping them understand these concepts better. Therefore, this approach is important to be integrated into learning, one of which is through the Learner Worksheet. This research aims to develop Learner Worksheets using the Realistic Mathematics Education approach that is valid, practical, and effective. This research is development research with the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate) development model. The research trial design involved the subject of VII grade students of SMPN 23 Sinjai, Sinjai Regency. Data collection instruments include instrument validation sheets, learner worksheet implementation sheets, learner response questionnaires, teacher response questionnaires, learner activity observation sheets, learning management observation sheets, and learning outcomes tests. The results showed that the Learner Worksheets using the Realistic Mathematics Education approach that had been developed met the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. This research contributes to providing Realistic Mathematics Education-based Student Worksheets that are valid, practical, and effective so that they can improve the quality of mathematics learning in the classroom.

Abstract

It is important to know students’ mathematical problem solving abilities based on their learning styles to identify the most appropriate teaching method to maximize each student's learning potential. This research aims to analyze the mathematical problem solving abilities of class X IIS 1 MA Guppi Ralla students by considering three learning styles, namely visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. The approach used is a qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of three students, representing various learning styles. Data was collected through learning style questionnaires, problem solving ability tests, and interviews. The data results were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of this research indicate that the mathematical problem solving abilities of class X students at MA Guppi Ralla can be influenced by their learning style. Based on the analysis of problem solving abilities in three subjects representing visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles, it can be concluded that students with a visual learning style have good mathematical problem solving abilities, especially in understanding problems, making plans, implementing plans, and looking back. Students with an auditory learning style also have good abilities in solving mathematical problems, although there is some difficulty understanding the problem carefully. Meanwhile, students with a kinesthetic learning style are also capable of solving mathematical problems, but they tend to be less careful in defining problems. Further research could explore how various teaching methods tailored to students' learning styles influence the improvement of their problem solving ability.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the discovery learning model on high school students' mathematical abilities. This type of research is classroom action research, which aims to increase educators' professionalism in improving student learning outcomes. This research was carried out at senior high school Yumik Banjaran. The subjects in this research involved students in class XII IPA 1 for the 2023/2024 academic year with 36 students. The research instrument used was a description test during the pre-test and post-test. The learning material provided is data-centering statistical material. The tests carried out are divided into two parts, namely test cycles I and II (after giving the action). The procedures in this research consist of: (1) planning, (2) implementation of actions, (3) observation, and evaluation, and (4) reflection. The results of this research show that in cycle I the researcher was not optimal in providing understanding to students so there were still many students who did not understand the statistical material of data concentration, however in cycle II the researcher improved the learning method by paying more attention to the systematics in the discovery learning model so that after cycle II is completed, students' mathematical understanding abilities can increase. Based on the performance indicators, it is concluded that students' mastery of mathematical understanding in the data-centering statistics material for class XII IPA 1 students at senior high school Yumik Banjaran can be improved through the discovery learning model.

Abstract

This research was conducted in response to the problems that seventh-grade students face in learning mathematics in the classroom, such as boredom and low achievement grades compared to the school's Minimum Completeness (KKM). The research aims to describe mathematics comic media's development process, validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The study was conducted at MTsN 2 Surabaya class VII G. The data collection techniques used were field notes, validation, response questionnaires, and test techniques. Furthermore, the research data obtained were analyzed using data analysis of field notes, validity, and practicality. Based on the results of the study, it was found that: (1) The process of developing math comics by using the Plomp development method. (2) The math comic media was declared "valid" with an average validity score of 3.534. (3) The math comic media was declared "practical" in the criteria of getting a "positive" response with a score of 81.79%. (4) The math comic media is declared effective because the percentage of learning completeness is above 70%, and there is an increase in students' numeracy literacy skills with an N-Gain value of 0.657. As for the effectiveness of the learning media itself, it can be seen from the results of the N-Gain test calculation which shows that the average value of the N-Gain Score is 0.657, including the moderate category with a minimum N-Gain value of 0.13 and a maximum of 1.00. So, using math comic media has a moderate effectiveness category with a percentage value of 44% in improving students' numeracy literacy skills.

Abstract

Mathematics and culture have a strong relationship in life. In Indonesia, culture is different from local wisdom, and the culture of certain community groups or tribes that support mathematical activities is called ethnomathematics. One example is cultural heritage buildings, such as the ANRI (National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia) building which was founded in 1750 in DKI Jakarta Province, precisely on Jalan Gajah Mada, West Jakarta. The purpose of the research that we use, which is exploratory with this ethnographic method, is to find and categorize the mathematical concepts contained in the ANRI building which is one of the sources of learning mathematics and efforts to develop ethnomathematics as a basis for mathematics learning. This study focuses on understanding the informal mathematical knowledge acquired by local people from their environment and culture, especially those related to cultural heritage sites, which are referred to as ethnomathematics. The study findings show that the National Archives Building is a significant cultural heritage site with historical and architectural significance. The architectural features of the building, such as the rectangular and trapezoidal shapes of the main structure and roof, reflect various geometric concepts. Overall, this research emphasizes the importance of preserving cultural heritage and documents in the National Archives to retain the historical knowledge contained within. Ethnomathematics provides a valuable framework to explore and appreciate mathematical concepts embedded in cultural artifacts, promoting a deeper understanding of mathematics through real-world activities and cultural practices.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a funethnomath learning media based on a virtual reality tour in the form of a website using a valid ethnomathematics approach. This research is a development type or RnD with the ADDIE model, consisting of the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation, which is limited to the development stage. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, documentation, and questionnaires. The validation questionnaire is given to material and media experts. The research instrument uses a validation questionnaire for media and material experts. The media expert validation questionnaire has several assessment aspects, including appearance, software engineering, and visual communication. The material expert validation questionnaire has several assessment aspects, including material design and language. The data analysis of the questionnaire is determined according to the media validity assessment guidelines. The results of this study show that the developed media has valid criteria with a final score of 3.015 in the media expert validation with assessment aspects of appearance, software engineering, and visual communication, and a final score of 3.0625 in the material expert validation with assessment aspects of material design and final value.

Abstract

This study aims to determine procedures for developing digital modules in Bugis cultural context to strengthen character education and improve numeracy literacy skills that are feasible to use. The type of research used is research and development (R&D). The population of this study were fifth-grade students of SD Negeri 296 Lapaukke. The results of this study indicate that the Digital module developed using the ADDIE model through 5 stages, namely, analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Based on the results of the study, it was found that: (1) The Bugis cultural context digital module is feasible to use in improving students' numeracy literacy. This is evidenced by the calculation results of media experts by 95% (very valid) and material experts by 100% (very valid) obtained a percentage of 97.5% (very valid). The recapitulation results of the student response questionnaire are 100% (very practical). From the recapitulation of student tests, the average score is 78.4% (effective). (2) The development of Bugis cultural context digital modules on strengthening character education and improving students' numeracy literacy skills is very effective. This is evident from the numeracy literacy test results of 21 students who completed or 95% of the total number of students and there was only one student who did not complete or 5% of the total number of students. The conclusion is that the Bugis cultural context digital module is effective in strengthening character education and improving students' numeracy literacy skills.
