Abstract

Labuan Tereng Village is a place where mangrove vegetation grows and develops. The location close to the harbor sheet makes the mangrove ecosystem damaged by port activities. High port activity can disrupt the condition of mangrove ecosystem development in Labuan Tereng Village. This study was conducted to evaluate mangrove health by looking at canopy cover or canopy density using the Hemispherical Photography method analyzed using Landsat 9 and Sentinel 2A to assess the extent of relationship between mangrove canopy cover and images. The findings revealed that the mean mangrove cover density value of 66% which is included in the medium category. Statistical analysis of several vegetation indexes with mangrove cover obtained the highest linear regression results in the SAVI model with a value of 0,41 for Landsat 9 images and 0,65 for Sentinel 2A images. The results of image data analysis on Sentinel 2A show a smaller pixel size value and contain more pixels so as to produce better and complex data analysis when compared to Landsat 9 imagery.

Abstract

The aims of this research is to determine changes in the chemical properties of mercury-contaminated soil with various modifications in the application of corn cob biochar and vetiver grass (Vetiveria zizanioides (L.). This research used an experimental method with an ex-situ remediation approach which was carried out from October 2023 to January 2024 in greenhouse. Sampling of mercury-contaminated soil was carried out on former traditional gold mining land in Segubuk Hamlet, Kuang Village, Taliwang Sub-District, West Sumbawa Regency. Soil sampling was taken from 13 locations determined by purposive sampling and carried out using a soil drill. Soil pH H2O, C-organic and CEC as well as analysis of the total concentration of mercury (Hg) in the soil were analysed before and after the experiment. The results showed that the application of corn cob biochar alone and corn cob biochar planted with vetiver grass (Vetiveria zizanioides (L.) had a significant effect) on changes in soil chemical properties and was effective in reducing the concentration of mercury (Hg) in the soil. Corn cob biochar application can improve soil chemical properties by increasing soil pH, organic C, and soil CEC. On the other hand, the release of H+ ions from the carboxyl functional group (-COOH) in corn cob biochar has the opportunity to form complexes with heavy metal ions so that it can reduce their concentration of mercury in the soil.

Abstract

Brown rice and black rice have high levels of anthocyanins so they have the potential to be developed as peel-off masks. This study aims to determine the anthocyanin levels of brown rice and black rice ethanol extracts and carry out formulations and evaluations of the physical properties of the peel-off mask formula with the highest anthocyanin levels. The anthocyanin levels of the two samples were determined using the pH difference method. Black rice samples produced the highest anthocyanin levels. Peel-off mask preparations are formulated from samples with the highest anthocyanin levels. Evaluation of the preparation includes organoleptic testing, homogeneity, dispersal power, pH and the time the preparation dries. Anthocyanin levels of black and red rice were 123.2±6,312 and 24.9±4,117 mg/100 gr, respectively. The maske r peel-off preparation was successfully formulated from black rice with a content of 1%. The evaluation results showed that the peel-off mask was purple, gel shape, distinctively scented, homogeneous, spreading power was 6.0 cm, pH 5.0 and the preparation time dried 20.33 ± 0.15 minutes. Based on research, it can be concluded that the formula of the peel-off mask of 1% black rice ethanol extract has met the physical requirements of the preparation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze changes in land cover over a specific period, focusing on the influencing factors and their impacts on the Biyonga Sub-Watershed ecosystem. The method used in this research is a combination of descriptive research method with spatial analysis interpretation approach and field survey. The research findings indicate that spatial analysis of land cover in the Biyonga Sub-Watershed revealed nine land cover classes, such as forest, shrubland, settlements, and agriculture. Land use change patterns were evaluated by overlaying land cover maps from 1990 to 2020. Significant changes in land cover occurred between 1990 and 2000, where secondary dryland forest cover changed to shrubland covering an area of 2,299.98 hectares. For the period 2000-2011, it was found that there was a loss of primary forest cover totaling 2097.27 hectares, which transitioned into secondary dry land forest and shrubland. Other changes included paddy fields transitioning into settlements and dry land agriculture, and dry land agriculture transitioning into settlements. From 2011 to 2020, there was an increase in the area of secondary forest cover and transitions from shrubland and dry land agriculture to secondary forest as well as mixed dry land agriculture.

Abstract

Gorontalo Province has topography in the form of lowlands to highlands which is shaped like a basin and most of Gorontalo Province is a water catchment area. One of the rivers with quite high sedimentation levels is the Alo River. To avoid more severe damage, technical conservation steps need to be taken, one of which is by building serial and continuous Check Dams. This research aims to determine erosion and sedimentation control and its effectiveness in the Alo watershed. The research method used was a direct survey method at the activity location, interviews with related agencies and people who were active at the location, then analysis was carried out. The stages begin with collecting primary data, secondary data. The data analysis used is using the Smith and Wischmeier (1978) equation known as the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) A = R x K x LS x C x P. The results of the research show that the activities The construction of the Check Dam was carried out in 2021 by the Environment and Forestry Service of Gorontalo Province through KPH VI Gorontalo which is located in Buhu Village, Gorontalo Regency. The results of studies in the field show that the width of the Alo River is narrowing and experiencing shallowing, marked by the appearance of deltas at several points. On average, the width of the Alo river is only around 3-4 meters with a depth of around 10-15 cm. The conclusion of this research is 4. The Check Dam built by DLHK Gorontalo Province through KPH VI does not function well in dealing with erosion and sedimentation that enters the Alok River due to lack of maintenance and involvement of the local community.
