Abstract

Rubber plant (Ficus elastica) is a plant that has been widely used as traditional medicine. The leaves of this plant are used as medicine for coughing up blood, laxative urine, relieving pain and improving blood circulation. Various kinds of properties and benefits of the rubber plant (Ficus elastica) cannot be separated from  the compounds contained in it such as saponins, polyphenols, and flavonoids.  The aims of this research is to determine the flavonoid total content in the ethyl acetate fraction of the rubber leaves (Ficus elastica). Simplicia was extracted by maceration method, using 96% ethanol solvent for 3x24 hours and partitioned with a mixture of 96% ethanol - aquadest (2:3) and ethyl acetate as a solvent. Determination of flavonoid content using UV-Vis spectrophotometry method , with a maximum wavelength of 438 nm, using quercetin as a comparison. The results of this research obtained that the total flavonoid content in the ethyl acetate fraction of  rubber leaves (Ficus elastica) was an average of 74,345 mgQE/g fraction

Abstract

Anemia in pregnant women will increase the risk of new born babies with low birth weight, miscarriage, premature, risk of bleeding before and / or during labor can cause death to both of them. This research aims to determine the evaluation before and after pregnancy supplement to pregnant women at Puskesmas Bulili, Palu, April - December 2018. This is a quantitative research with a retrospective approach. There are 44 females without the anemia and 22 at the anemia group. Pregnant women are said to be anemic when their hemoglobin or red blood levels are less than 11.0 gr%. The results, the hemoglobin levels before and after the use of pregnancy supplements in the non-anemia were 11.7 gr / dl and 11.4 gr dl (p = 0.004; p <0.005), the anemia group 9.7 gr / dl and 11 , 3 gr / dl (p = 0.000; p <0.005, there was a significant change in hemoglobin level. The results showed no anemia group difference which smaller (0.3 g / dl) compared to the anemia group (1.6 g / rdl), with values (p = 0.317; p> 0.005) which means no significant difference in hemoglobin levels after pregnancy supplementation

Abstract

Healthy skin should have a flat surface, the texture is soft, elastic, and have the same skin color. Skin color is determined by the size, number and distribution of melanin pigment. Pigment brownish pigment melanin is to protect the skin from UV light scattering. An enzyme that plays a role in this browning reaction is tyrosinase. Browning reaction tyrosinase inhibitor can be inhibited by an enzymatic by an enzymatic reaction in the form of ions or molecules called tyrosinase. Inhibition of tyrosinase is one way to prevent skin hyperpigmentation. Tyrosinase enzyme catalyzes two main reactions in the biosynthesis of melanin, the hydroxylation of L-tyrosin into L-dopa and the oxidation of L-dopa becomes dopakuinon. Polyphenol compounds (Flavonoids) the group is basically have the effect cant inhibit melanogenesis as a tyrosinase inhibitor. Kecombrang a wild plant that has many benefits one of them as a source of natural antioxidants. Based on this research is conducted on the fruit skin kecombrang to see the activity of the enzyme tyrosinase barriers and whether rind kecombrang can inhibit tyrosinase enzyme and with the aim to utilize natural materials and waste that can inhibit the enzyme tyrosinase and can be used as a skin whitheter.Research iniated by the extraction of fruit skins kecombrang using etanol. Flavonid content test on the sample using Mg powder and HCl p, the results show a color change from dark brown to yellow. So positive it contains flavonoids. Measurements were contucted on a maximum wavelength of 478,003 nm, using the substrate L-tyrosine and the enzyme tyrosinase. Using comparators hidroquinon. Of the results of this study concluded that kecombrang fruit peel ectract at a concentration of 2 mg/mL could inhibit amounted to 55,92% and a concentration of 2,5 mg/mL could inhibit amounted to 56,58%.

Abstract

Snail mucus (Achatina fulica) has a high protein content, which includes beta agglutinin, achasin protein, acharan sulfate, and glycoconjugate. The objectives of this study was to determine differences in physical evaluation of the quality of the gel preparation against snail mucus concentration and to determine the efficacy of snail mucus gel as a wound healing. This study used an experimental research method with a sample of 4 male rats (Rattus novergicus) which were divided into 6 groups in each. The results showed that there was no effect of the physical quality of snail slime gel (Achatina fulica) on the concentration of snail slime formulated. It has been proven in the Kruskall wallis statistical test with the Sig. > 0.05. The results of the wound healing activity test showed an average value of K (+) 49.61%, K (-) 17.48%, P1 48.23%, P2 43.63%, P3 43.43%, and P4 23, 97. Values that indicate differences in K (-) and P4 are evidenced in the Post Hoc LSD test with Sig. <0.05. It can be concluded that the concentration of snail mucus does not affect the physical quality of snail mucus gel preparations and snail mucus gel with snail mucus concentration of 10% is effective in the process of wound healing.

Abstract

Febuxostat and allopurinol are xanthine oxidase inhibitors to reduce uric acid levels. The research aimed to determine the differences in efficacy and safety of using febuxostat and allopurinol for gout patients. This research was conducted using a narrative review method for articles obtained from the PubMed and Willey databases published in 2010-2021. From the article exploration, 5 articles were reviewed showing that the determination of drug efficacy was seen by monitoring the changes in uric acid levels for 6 months from the beginning of drug use. Febuxostat and allopurinol had good efficacy in achieving target uric acid levels < 6 mg/dL, however, febuxostat was superior to allopurinol in usual doses. Febuxostat 80 mg had superior efficacy to febuxostat 40 mg, while febuxostat 40 mg had superior efficacy to allopurinol 300 mg (p < 0.05). For safety, febuxostat and allopurinol possessed similar side effects in the form of upper respiratory tract infection, diarrhea, headache, nausea and vomiting.
