Abstract

The implementation of Kurikulum Merdeka, a crucial education initiative introduced by the Indonesian government to enhance national education quality, is particularly significant in Vocational Schools (Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan/SMK). These schools play a strategic role in preparing students with relevant skills for the workforce. Chemistry educators in vocational schools could develop alternative learning materials aligned with the latest curriculum standards through the implementation of Kurikulum Merdeka. This qualitative descriptive study employed a survey method, utilizing a specially designed questionnaire to measure the perspectives of chemistry educators regarding Kurikulum Merdeka. The survey involved 32 diverse chemistry teachers in SMKs across Gunung Kidul who had implemented Kurikulum Merdeka. Results indicate a strong commitment among educators to curriculum updates and alignment with student needs. While positive progress is noted in implementing a differentiated learning approach, attention is needed to provide additional programs for students struggling with understanding materials. Moreover, sustained efforts are required for effective community engagement and the development of a structured framework for data-based interventions. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities of implementing Kurikulum Merdeka in vocational schools, offering recommendations for improvement.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that there are still many teachers who teach their students only through thematic textbooks. This research aims to develop an Integrated Thematic learning Module Based on Problem-Based Learning that is valid, practical, and effective in improving the Critical Thinking Ability of Class V Students in Elementary school. The type of research used is Research and Development with the ADDIE development model. Based on the results of the development research carried out, the results obtained were that the validity of the module based on the lesson plan expert obtained an average of 100% (very valid), the material expert validator obtained a result of 91.6% (very valid), the result obtained by the language expert was 76% (valid), and the acquisition of media experts was 69.10% (quite valid). The practicality of the modules carried out by educators and students was carried out as a result of trials carried out on 20 students at SDN 127/II Sungai Arang, and SDN 197/II Pulau Pekan who obtained a total average of 93.83%, and 90.83%. or in the very practical category. The effectiveness of the module developed was carried out by comparing the critical thinking abilities of students who used the module (experimental group) with students who used school textbooks (control group). In the initial stage, both sample groups were given a pretest with the same level of questions. From the results of the analysis, the average for experimental class students was 25.00, and for control class students, the average was 96.90. This research concludes that the development of an integrated thematic learning module based on Problem-Based Learning to improve the critical thinking skills of fifth-grade students in elementary schools is declared valid, practical, and effective

Abstract

Skin issues like deep acne scars (pockmarks) are routinely addressed. Dermaroller and Dermapen face skin care help cure this issue. Researchers believe plasma from platelets (PRP) and salmon DNA serum dermapens work similarly on pockmarked skin. White Wistar mice were tested to confirm this suspicion. This is a lab study or an experiment. The study employed a post-test only with a control group design on 16 white Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) divided into two groups of eight rats each: Group I received platelet plasma dermapen (PRP) and Group II received salmon DNA serum dermapen. The collected data was tested for normalcy using SPSS. The data normality test showed a significance value of 0.20 > 0.05, indicating normal distribution. The homogeneity test is 0.224. The significant probability value is greater than 0.05, indicating that the PRP dermapen group and the salmon serum DNA dermapen group have similar variances. The t-test rejects H0 or shows a significant difference in wound healing between groups if the significance value is 0.00 or less than 0.05. The study found that PRP and salmon DNA serum promote wound healing. Healing was faster in the PRP than in the salmon DNA serum group. This is possible because PRP includes bioactive molecules that act as tissue growth factors to enhance proliferation. PRP contains various growth factors that aid wound healing.

Abstract

The implementation of the Independent Curriculum in SMK requires science learning to be carried out across disciplines through projects. This study aims to examine the potential and implementation of learning "IPAS project" oriented to the STEAM approach as an implementation of the Merdeka curriculum in SMK. The research was conducted using a survey method with a qualitative descriptive approach involving 48 respondents representing 34 out of 163 vocational schools in Central Java. The instrument used is a questionnaire consisting of three open questions about expectations, obstacles and efforts to overcome them; as well as a five-aspect questionnaire on the profile of teachers' understanding of the application of STEAM-based "IPAS Project" learning in the Merdeka curriculum in SMK. Qualitative descriptive analysis is carried out by data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that although we have understood aspects of the independent curriculum in learning "IPAS Project", there are still obstacles, especially in the application of the STEAM approach. As for the profile of teachers' understanding of the application of STEAM-based "IPAS project" learning in the Merdeka curriculum in SMK, most teachers already have an understanding of the learning concept of "IPAS project" and in its application have involved many students in the implementation of the Merdeka curriculum. But in understanding the concept of STEAM, most teachers still don't master it well. Likewise, in terms of experience in applying the STEAM approach in "IPAS project", not many teachers have applied it in a structured and systematic manner. Based on this, it is recommended that to reduce the gap in expectations and constraints for vocational teachers, an LMS platform is needed to bridge the implementation of STEAM-based "IPAS Project".

Abstract

The interpretation of local geology structure can be done effectively by using an appropriate local seismic velocity model. It is suitable to implement in Lombok Island that the local fault activity near Mount Rinjani caused the 2019 East Lombok Earthquake. This study determines and updates the 1-D seismic velocity model using the VELEST by applying the Coupled Hypocenter-Velocity method. The 2010-2022 earthquake data from the catalog of BMKG is used for this study. A total of about 166 events (M ≥ 4) and 20 seismic stations in Lombok and surrounding areas are utilized in this study. The local model (Koulakov) and global (AK-135) are selected as the initial model. The double-difference method is also used to test both velocity models refining the hypocenter location. The results show that the updated Koulakov model has a high relevance in representing the crustal structure of Lombok Island according to the parameters of RMS value, uncertainties hypocenter, and seismic interpretation. It demonstrates not only the local geology condition but also a more reliable seismic velocity model in the region of Lombok Island. This model can be used as a reference for interpreting the better geological structure.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus can increase oxidative stress and damage cells. Noni fruit has antibacterial, antifungal, antitumor, analgesic, hypotensive, and anti-inflammatory benefits, can boost immunity, and has antioxidant content. Noni contains phenolic compounds (anthraquinones, acuities, asperulosides, and scopoletin), organic acids (capric and caprylic acids), and alkaloids (xeronine). The effect of noni ethanol extract can significantly reduce blood glucose (P<0.05) of the T2 group (177.00±137.78) and T3 (159.40±86.53) when compared to the C+ group (511.00±131.45). The T1 group (387.40±170.06) had no significant difference (P>0.05) when compared to the C+ group (511.00±131.45), but there was a decrease in the average yield at T1 (387.40±170.06). Serum malondialdehyde (MDA) examination showed a significant decrease (p<0.05) in T1 (1188.32±93.41), while in T2 (1385.35±38.65) and T3 (1460.32±42.51) was not significant (p<0.05). Examination of serum glutathione peroxidase (GPX) showed a significant decrease in T1 (119.97±37.45), there was a decrease in GPX levels, while in the T2 group (236.14±6.05) and T3 (185.24±43.07), there was no decrease. Noni ethanol extract can lower blood glucose levels, reduce Malondialdehyde levels, and prevent increased activity of the enzyme glutathione peroxidase. Flavonoid compounds in noni ethanol extract can avoid increased blood glucose and reduce free radicals formed due to hyperglycemia conditions.
