Abstract

The aim of this research was to analyzed the differences in collaboration skills between students taught with a project-based learning model and conventional learning model in science subjects. The type of research includes quasi-experiments with a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The sampling technique used was nonprobability sampling. The population consisted of eleven classes in class VII, and the sample used was four classes. The research instruments were observation of collaboration skills and learning outcomes tests. The data obtained were collaboration skills scores and pretest and posttest scores on temperature and heat material. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques and inferential analysis (one-way MANOVA) with a significance level of 5%. Before testing the hypothesis, prerequisite tests are carried out (normality, homogeneity of variance, covariance, linearity, and correlation between variables). The results showed that significant differences in collaboration skills and science learning outcomes both simultaneously and separately between students taught using the project-based learning model and students taught using the conventional learning model with a p value <0.05. Referring to the results, it was concluded that there were differences in collaboration skills and learning outcomes between students who were taught using the project model, which was better than the conventional model

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the thickness of composite boards made from egg cardboard on sound absorption and water absorption. Composite boards are produced by crushing egg cartons with a blender, mixing them with water and tapioca glue to form slurry and then molding them to thicknesses varying from 1, 2, and 3 cm. The sound absorption results were measured using a Sound Level Meter GM1352, while the water absorption capacity was determined using the mass ratio before and after immersion. The results show that the sound absorption capacity of a composite board made from egg cardboard with a thickness of 1 cm is 6.58%, a thickness of 2 cm is 10.87%, and a thickness of 3 cm is 16.05%, while the water absorption capacity of a composite board made from egg cardboard with a thickness 1 cm is 29.41%, 2 cm thickness is 31.43%, and 3 cm thickness is 32.91%. This shows that the greater the thickness of the composite board made from egg cartons used, the greater the sound absorbed. Likewise, with the water absorption test, the results showed that the thicker the composite board made from egg cartons used, the greater the water absorption capacity produced.

Abstract

Collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills are becoming increasingly important in the modern workplace. Integration of learning activities, research, and community service was discovered to be an effective way to develop these abilities in students. The present study employed a mixed-methods sequential explanatory design to examine the effect of the service-learning model on seventeen college students. Observation, interview, and a problem-solving test were used to collect the data. The data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The quantitative data analysis was performed using the parametric pretest and post-test design. The results showed that participants’ problem-solving skills improved after being exposed to the service-learning model, indicated by the significance value of more than 0.05 in the non-parametric Wilcoxon test. Likewise, the qualitative analysis indicated that 95% of the participants considered the SL model effective in improving their problem-solving skills, especially the abilities to explore content, identify problems, solve the problems, and communicate scientific concepts.

Abstract

Lime (Citrus amblycarpa (Hassk.) Ochse) has been widely used in traditional medicine. However, only some studies have comprehensively revealed the content of leaves, including their use as candidate medicinal ingredients. This study aimed to analyze the active compounds of lime leaves through GC‒MS analysis and their benefits in traditional medicine. Experimental research with a laboratory approach is used. The implementation of research by analyzing the bioactive content of lime leaf ethanol extract using GC‒MS along with a comprehensive analysis related to its benefits as a traditional medicine agent. Data analysis using the Willey 7 Library database and descriptive analysis.  Using GC-MS showed that lime leaf ethanol extract contains 75 compound components dominated by 11 principal components, including citronellol, caryophyllene, hexadecanoic acid, ethyl ester, 1-heptatriacotanol, Phytol, ethyl 9,12,15-oate; methyl glycocholate, 3TMS derivative; 3,7-dimethyloct-6-en-1-yl stearate; ethyl iso-allocate; Rhopin; and tricyclo [20.8.0.0 (7,16)] triacontane, 1(22),7(16)-diepoxy-. Based on the findings of the content evaluation, the compound constituents of lime leaves have the potential to be developed as traditional remedies for both degenerative and infectious diseases. However, further research is needed precisely to identify the therapeutic effects exerted by using compounds on lime leaves.

Abstract

Biology learning is learning that requires teaching materials that can facilitate the delivery of abstract and complex material. This research aims to determine the effect of digital-based interactive modules on students' critical thinking skills and learning motivation at SMA Negeri 9 Bengkulu City. This research is a type of Quasi-Experimental research. The sample used in collecting research data was 65 students taken from class X MIPA 2 as the experimental class and X MIPA 3 as the control class. The instruments used were critical thinking skills test sheets and student learning motivation questionnaires. The results showed that students' critical thinking skills and learning motivation were better compared to the control class. This is shown by the significance value for these two variables, namely 0.00 0.05. The results of this research confirm that the use of teaching materials in the form of interactive digital modules in biology learning is effective in facilitating students to develop their thinking skills. The use of teaching materials that utilize technology will foster students' learning motivation because they are considered relevant to students' learning needs in the current technological era.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic made higher education institutes support online education. Searching for the learning difficulties of students who have gone through lectures online needs to be done as anticipation and looking for solutions in the next lecture. This quantitative descriptive research was conducted in biology education study programs that have studied Plant Physiology in the 2020-2021 academic years. 56 respondents were given a questionnaire related to their difficulties during the online lectures. Learning difficulties in the external aspect were the slow internet network (58.90%) and the internal aspect was very difficult to focus on listening to online lectures if the room where the lecture was messy (58.90%). Physical and physical health profile, easy to get sore and sleepy during the course (57.10%). On the profile of academic learning, students find it more difficult to find textbooks during online lectures than during offline lectures (69.60%). The characteristics of the courses that affected the mastery of the material were the presence of many illustrations of physiological processes (30.40%) and complex concepts (30.40%). Lecturers and students work together to overcome these difficulties so as not to disrupt the overall course of lectures so that online lectures continue well.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology in Indonesia has developed very rapidly. This can be seen in smartphone users, the number of bloggers in Indonesia, Facebook or other social media users, and internet users. One of the information and communication technologies that is starting to develop in Indonesia is Virtual Reality. This technology in Indonesia is still not much developed. Virtual Reality technology that has entered Indonesia is mostly only in the form of games. There are not many Virtual Reality developers in Indonesia. The Indonesian government itself is currently promoting the digitization of school (learning) materials, one of which is through the Electronic Book Series from the Ministry of Education and Culture for elementary school, junior high school high school and vocational school children. Electronic Series Books are still limited to masters or digitalized books, while the development of Virtual Reality in the education sector in Indonesia is still not large and has not yet developed. In Indonesia, almost no elementary schools utilize Virtual Reality technology in their learning process and mathematics is one of the school materials that is very feared by students, apart from English and regional languages ​​(Javanese). From the above background, researchers developed a mathematics learning application for the elementary school level based on Virtual Reality technology. With this Virtual Reality technology, children are invited to play and learn so that children are able to work on math problems in a fun way

Abstract

Performing experimental activities in a laboratory using the available equipment is not as straightforward as it may seem. In practice, conducting experiments can be challenging, and various factors can contribute to erroneous measurement results. One such factor is systematic errors, which occur due to inaccuracies in the measurement tools used. Additionally, error sources from external factors can also influence the measurement results. It is important to be aware of these potential errors and take appropriate measures to minimize their impact during experimental procedures. Tracker software is a valuable tool that can enhance the accuracy of experimental activities conducted in laboratories. This software assists in generating more precise data by tracking and analyzing various elements of the experiment. By utilizing tracker software, researchers can closely monitor the movement and behavior of objects, making it easier to measure and record data accurately. This technology plays a significant role in improving the reliability and efficiency of experimental procedures in the laboratory setting. From the study's objectives, it can be deduced that the restitution coefficient values obtained through manual data collection for the bekel ball are 𝑒 = 0.5136 ± 0.004214, and for the ping pong ball, it is 𝑒 = 0.4566 ± 0.01736. On the other hand, when using tracker software for data collection, the restitution coefficient value for the bekel ball is 𝑒 = 0.5397 ± 0.0008731, and for the ping pong ball, it is 𝑒 = 0.5115 ± 0.001154.

Abstract

Natural science learning is a process of discovery, therefore science learning includes systematic exploration activities, which means not only mastering systematic accumulation but also the process of discovery. It's helps aid participants in solving problems. However, the phenomena encountered show that students' problem-solving abilities are still quite low. The low problem-solving ability is also influenced by students' self-efficacy. Therefore, it is necessary to innovate the development of science learning tools using appropriate models. One model that can be use is the integrated PBL model with the STEM approach. The development carried out aims to increase students' problem-solving abilities and self-efficacy. This type of research is R&D research with the ADDIE development model. Study findings indicate that students' problem-solving abilities have increased by 0.81 in the high category and their self-efficacy has increased by 0.30 in the medium category. These findings are based on the acquisition of the N-gain value. Consequently, it is beneficial to increase students' problem-solving skills and self-efficacy to design science learning resources that incorporate the PBL model and the STEM approach.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the decrease in rat blood glucose levels, MDA levels, and the histopathological description of pancreas after giving ethanol extract of belalai gajah plant. This study used 25 rats, grouped into 5, namely normal control, negative control (CMC-Na 0.5% dose 2 mL/200 g b.w), positive control (glibenclamide dose 0.09 mg /200 g b.w), belalai gajah plant ethanol extract (dose 30 mg/200 g b.w., and 60 mg/200 g b.w). Prior to treatment, the rats were induced into diabetes with streptozotocin-nicotinamide. The content of belalai gajah plant was tested phytochemically and antidiabetic. Potential of belalai gajah plant was tested by induction for 14 days. The results showed that ethanol extract of belalai gajah plant contained alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, terpenoids, and phenolics. The decrease in blood glucose and MDA levels in the group given the ethanol extract of belalai gajah plant at dose of 60 mg/200 g b.w. was the same as the dose of glibenclamide 0.09 mg/200 g b.w. The results of histopathological of pancreas showed that the ethanol extract of belalai gajah plant at dose of 60 mg/200 g b.w. could improve the structure of Langerhans islets in the pancreas of diabetic rats.
