Abstract

Soursop jam is a local fruit-based product with potential for food diversification; however, its high moisture content increases susceptibility to microbiological deterioration during room-temperature storage. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different sugar concentrations on the microbiological, physicochemical, and sensory characteristics of soursop jam and to determine its shelf life using a critical limit and risk-based microbiological assessment approach. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of microbiological indicators with physicochemical parameters to explain biological failure during storage of local fruit-based jam products. The experiment used three sugar concentrations, namely 50%, 60%, and 70% (w/w), with duplicate analyses for each treatment. Storage observations were conducted for 20 days at room temperature (27–30 °C), while microbiological analysis referred to ISO 4833-1:2013 and SNI 3746:2008 as the critical microbiological limit. The results showed that initial Total Plate Count values ranged from 23.50 × 10³ to 34.00 × 10³ CFU g⁻¹, which remained below the permissible limit. Moisture content decreased from 48.36% to 36.80% with increasing sugar concentration, while vitamin C content increased from 7.86 to 10.48 mg/100 g. The jam with 60% sugar concentration showed the highest sensory acceptance scores for color (4.64 ± 0.42) and aroma (4.78 ± 0.40). However, visible mold and yeast growth appeared after 20 days of storage in all treatments. Based on the critical limit approach, the shelf life of soursop jam is recommended not to exceed one week under room-temperature storage conditions.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the limited use of interactive multimedia in science learning in elementary schools, resulting in suboptimal student engagement and the development of computational thinking skills. The textbook-dominated learning process results in students being less active and having difficulty understanding concepts in depth. Therefore, the use of interactive multimedia based on Google Sites is expected to increase student motivation, understanding, and active participation. The purpose of this research is to develop interactive multimedia based on Google Sites in fifth-grade science learning in elementary schools that is highly valid, practical, and effective in improving students' computational thinking skills. The method used was Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects consisted of fifth-grade teachers and students at SDN 11 Lubuk Buaya and SDN Percobaan in Padang City, West Sumatra. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and computational thinking tests. Data analysis techniques included validity, practicality, and effectiveness tests. The practicality test was conducted in class VB at SDN 11 Lubuk Buaya with 17 students and class VB at SDN Percobaan with 24 students, and 2 class teachers in each class. The effectiveness test was conducted in class VA at SDN Percobaan with 23 students as the control class and class VB as the experimental class. The validation results showed a score of 90% from the material experts, 93% from the language experts, and 81% from the design experts, categorizing it as very valid. The practicality test obtained a score of 95% from the teachers and 92% from the students, categorizing it as very practical. The effectiveness test showed that the experimental class achieved an average score of 87.44 (effective), while the control class achieved 58.88 (moderately effective). Thus, the Google Site-based interactive multimedia was declared very valid, very practical, and effective as an alternative learning medium for science studies in elementary schools.

Abstract

Insufficient conceptual understanding of roof construction elements often leads to suboptimal learning outcomes in vocational education. The technical nature of structural components requires high spatial visualization, which conventional materials fail to provide. This study aimed to develop valid, practical, and effective augmented reality learning media to bridge this gap. Utilizing the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation), the research involved three-dimensional structural modeling and smartphone integration. Testing was conducted at SMK Negeri 5 Padang involving an experimental class (n = 32) and a control class (n = 12) within the Fundamentals of Construction and Housing Engineering subject. Data were gathered through validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, and pre-test post-test instruments. Results indicated high validity scores of 4.71 from media matter experts and 4.63 from subject experts, with practicality ratings of 95.76 percent from teachers and 93.00 percent from students. Statistical analysis via independent t-test revealed significant differences in post-test scores (t = 2.24, p = 0.03). Furthermore, the experimental group achieved a higher competency growth (N-gain 0.66) than the control group (0.51, p = 0.01). In conclusion, augmented reality is highly feasible for enhancing vocational learning outcomes by transforming abstract references into interactive visualizations.

Abstract

Students often find the solar system challenging due to its abstract nature and vast spatial and temporal scales. Students are unable to directly observe phenomena such as planetary revolution or the internal structure of the sun in the classroom. This often leads to misconceptions or incomplete conceptual understanding. For example, many students still assume that planetary orbits are perfectly circular or misunderstand the causes of seasonal changes. This study aims to analyze the need to develop an e-comic as a conceptual change-based learning medium for seventh-grade students of Islamic Junior High Schools (MTs). Conceptual change is an important approach in science learning that helps students replace incorrect initial concepts with correct scientific concepts. Using a needs analysis method, 51 students responded to various questions posed to identify gaps in students' understanding of the solar system concept. Data were collected through observations, interviews with teachers, and student questionnaires. The results indicate that a conceptual change-based e-comic is highly needed as an alternative learning medium that can facilitate a more effective and enjoyable learning process. This research provides a strong basis for the development of e-comic media that is appropriate to the characteristics of grade VII MTs students in understanding solar system material.

Abstract

The increasing discharge of dye-contaminated wastewater from the textile industry poses serious environmental and health challenges, necessitating the development of efficient, sustainable, and reusable treatment materials. This study presents a hybrid review integrating a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and bibliometric analysis to critically examine research trends, material design strategies, adsorption mechanisms, and existing limitations of magnetic nanocomposite adsorbents for textile dye wastewater treatment. Following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, 30 peer-reviewed articles published between 2018 and 2025 were systematically selected for SLR from Scopus and SINTA databases and 200-500 articles for bibliometric analysis. Bibliometrics focuses on Scopus data (to identify global trends), while SINTA is used to strengthen SLR in the local context of the Indonesian textile industry. Bibliometric mapping using VOSviewer reveals a growing research emphasis on multifunctional materials, regeneration performance, and sustainability, while the SLR highlights a dominant focus on binary nanocomposite systems and single-dye adsorption studies under idealized laboratory conditions. A significant research gap is identified in the integration of complex tungsten–tantalum oxide phases with magnetic Fe₃O₄ matrices. Addressing this gap, this review identifies the integration of complex tungsten–tantalum oxide phases as a promising future research direction to overcome current limitations in chemical stability and improved resistance to harsh textile wastewater environments. The findings provide strategic insights for the design of next-generation magnetic adsorbents with improved industrial applicability and environmental sustainability.

Abstract

A landscape carrying capacity assessment serves as a critical tool for strengthening sustainable natural resource governance within socio-ecological systems. This study aimed to evaluate the carrying capacity status of the Sentarum Lake Catchment Area and identify key ecological and socioeconomic vulnerabilities. The analysis was conducted using a multi-criteria index-based approach aligned with the Indonesian Minister of Forestry Regulation No. P.61/Menhut-II/2014, integrating cross-sectoral data across five dimensions: land condition, water regime, socioeconomic conditions, water infrastructure, and land use patterns. The results showed that the carrying capacity was classified as “good,” with an index value of 78.00. Nevertheless, a phenomenon of pseudo-hydrological stability was identified, in which stable flow regimes (flow regime coefficient = 0.50) and high water availability (water use index = 0.50) masked functional degradation within the system. This condition was reflected in a high annual runoff coefficient (1.50) and increasing flood frequency (1.25), indicating declining infiltration capacity. These pressures were further exacerbated by the limited proportion of natural vegetation within protected areas (45.10%) and high socioeconomic vulnerability (poverty level index = 1.50). Overall, the findings indicate a fragile equilibrium in which apparent ecological stability conceals emerging hydrological and socioeconomic risks. Without adaptive and integrated management interventions, the system is likely to shift toward structural degradation. Therefore, strengthening landscape governance requires ecosystem-based spatial planning, nature-based mitigation strategies, and inclusive local economic development to enhance long-term resilience.

Abstract

The Timber Legality Verification System (SVLK) is a policy instrument designed to ensure the legality of timber forest products and sustainability of community forest management in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the SVLK policy in Banten Province, map the roles and interests of stakeholder, and assess its economic impact on the income of community forest farmers before and post implementation of the Job Creation Law (UUCK). The study used a mixed method approach (combining qualitative and quantitative) using structured and in-depth interviews to farmers and related stakeholders. The analysis used consist of policy implementation analysis, stakeholder analysis (actor grid), income analysis, and the Revenue Cost Ratio (R/C) analysis. The results indicate that SVLK implementation has not been effective due to limitations in human resources, budget, policy communication, and the absence of specific SOPs. The Forest Management Unit (FMU) is a forest farmer association formed with a common goal and has a management, which will undergo SVLK certification in Banten Province. The FMU and the Ministry of Forestry play the role of Key Players with the highest level of interest and influence. Economically, self-funded SVLK certification causes losses for farmers, while financial facilitation from the state budget (APBN) improves business feasibility but has not significantly improved farmer welfare. This study recommends improvements to the SVLK policy design through strengthening institutional capacity, regulatory consistency, and fairer economic incentive schemes for community forest farmers.

Abstract

Field practicum skills are a cornerstone of the professional competence of prospective biology teachers, yet their long-term developmental dynamics remain underexplored. This study aims to map the profile of field practicum abilities among Biology Education students at the Mataram University over a five-year period (2020-2024). Using a longitudinal quantitative approach, data were collected from 120 students through a structured, expert-validated questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics and the non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis and Dunn's tests. The results indicate significant fluctuations in competency achievement: the highest average was in 2022 (79.28; SD=3.13) and the lowest in 2023 (65.93; SD=0.78). The Kruskal-Wallis test confirmed significant differences between years (χ² = 80.67; p < 0.05), with specific year pairs (e.g., 2022 vs. 2023) showing marked disparities. These findings reveal that field practicum ability is highly susceptible to curricular factors, institutional policies, and external disruptions such as extreme weather. The implication is that the development of prospective science teachers requires a learning ecosystem that is adaptive, evidence-based, and capable of proactively responding to environmental uncertainty.
