Abstract

Fokus penelitian ini menggunakan konsep Victor Shklovsky untuk mendeskripsikan teknik penceritaan yang digunakan pengarang dalam kumpulan cerpen yang berjudul Harga Diri. Teori Formalisme Rusia akan digunakan peneliti untuk memaparkan teknik penceritaan pengarang dan sarana retorika yang dipilih pengarang dalam memperlambat dan mengulur-ulur kisah dalam cerpen. Penelitian ini termasuk ke dalam jenis penelitian kepustakaan dan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data dan sumber data terdapat dalam tujuh kumpulan cerpen Harga Diri. Teknik penyediaan data yang digunakan adalah teknik baca dan catat. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu reduksi data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian analisis menggunakan teori Formalisme Rusia pada kumpulan cerpen dapat menunjukan teknik-teknik yang digunakan pengarang dalam pengasingan cerita. Teknik yang digunakan adalah tekni penceritaan orang pertama, teknik penceritaan orang ketiga, teknik penceritaan orang campuran, teknik monolog interior, teknik pengamatan, teknik dialog dan teknik imbas kembali dan pengarang menggunakan gaya bahasa untuk memperindah peristiwa di dalam cerita  yaitu terdapat gaya bahasa hiperbola, majas sarkasme, majas perumpamaan, majas sinestesia, majas metafora, majas metonimia, majas personifikasi, dan majas antithesis. Pada akhir cerita, pengarang memanfaatkan suspence untuk menimbulkan efek kejutan atas kenyataan mengenai kehidupan tokoh.

Abstract

This research has examined the marxist feminist and patriarchy as the types and form of female issues based on research questions. By using qualitative method, this research uses qualitative research managed to find the issues that occur in this film about how capitalists and patriarchy create the issues toward women. This research tries to identify the types of woman issues contained in the film Suffragette. This film is directed by Sara Gavron. The Suffragette film was inspired by the true story of a group of women activists led by Emmeline Pankhurst, in fighting for women's rights to political and economic participation. Suffragette tells the story using the perspective of the character of Maud Watts, a laundry service worker who joined Pankhurst in raising the issue of women's rights to vote before Parliament; which allowed mainly for upper class men. This research shows the imbalance of political opportunity between the upper class and lower class the dominance of masculinity over female workers. The values of Marxist Feminism were seen through scenes when the character of Maud Watts  testifies before the court and in the Horse Race scene in which the Suffragette groups protest. The court scene shows opposition from women's labor groups, representing women to fight for equality between men and women.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan 1) Karakteristik dimensional tokoh utama dalam naskah drama monolog Racun Tembakau terjemahan Jim Adhi Limas 2) Karakteristik dimensional tokoh utama dalam naskah drama monolog Racun Tembakau saduran S. Jai 3) perbandingan karakteristik dimensional tokoh utama dalam naskah drama monolog Racun Tembakau terjemahan dan saduran. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan objektif menggunakan metode sastra bandingan, dengan memperoleh data berupa klasifikasi dialog karakteristik dimensional masing-masing tokoh. Teknik pengambilan data yang digunakan adalah teknik baca dan catat, data dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis struktural objektif dan bandingan. Hasil penelitian adalah sebagai berikut 1) Karakteristik dimensional tokoh Ivan Ivanovich Nyukhin adalah fisiologis usia 35-65 tahun, laki-laki, cambang panjang, kumis klimis, sosiologis Achieved Status (atas kekayaan istri), dan pengajar, tidak bergelar akademik, suami dan ayah 6 anak perempuan, ceramah ilmiah, bangsa Rusia, psikologis melankoli, percaya diri, memendam perasaan, dan gugup, logis dan analitik. 2) Karakteristik dimensional: fisiologis usia 70 tahun, laki-laki, cambang panjang, kumis tipis, sosiologis Achieved Status (atas kekayaan istri), penulis karangan ilmiah, lulusan universitas, suami dan ayah 7 anak perempuan, ceramah ilmiah, pelatih teater, rapat dewan rakyat, komunitas ilmiah, dan LSM, berkebangsaan Indonesia, psikologis melankoli, sopan, sengsara, dan frustrasi, wawasan luas dan kemampuan menganalisa. 3) Persamaan karakteristik dimensional kedua tokoh yaitu dimensi fisiologis: jenis kelamin, dimensi sosiologis: status sosial, dimensi psikologis: temperamen. Perbedaan karakteristik dimensional kedua tokoh yakni dimensi fisiologis: usia dan keadaan tubuh, dimensi sosiologis: pekerjaan, pendidikan, kehidupan pribadi, aktivitas sosial, dan kebangsaan, dimensi psikologis: sikap dan perilaku serta IQ dan kecerdasan. The purposes of this research were to describe 1) Dimensional characteristics of the main characters in the monologue drama script “Racun Tembakau” translation Jim Adhi Limas 2) Dimensional characteristics of the main characters in the monologue drama script “Racun Tembakau” adaptation of S. Jai 3) comparison of the dimensional characteristics of the main characters in the monologue drama script “Racun Tembakau” translation and adaptation. This type of research uses an objective approach using the comparative literary method, by obtaining data in the form of a dialogue of the dimensional characteristics of each character. The data collection technique used is the technique of reading and recording, the data were analyzed using objective and comparative structural analysis techniques. The results of the study are as follows: 1) The dimensional characteristics of Ivan Ivanovich Nyukhin are physiologists aged 35-65 years old, male, long sideburns, mustache, hairline, sociological Achieved Status (on wife's wealth), and instructors, without academic title, husband and father 6 daughters, scientific lectures, Russian nationals, psychological melancholy, self-confidence, deep-seated feelings, and nervous, logical and analytic. 2) Dimensional characteristics: physiological age 70 years, male, long sideburns, thin mustache, sociological Achieved Status (on the wealth of the wife), scientific essay writers, university graduates, husband and father of 7 daughters, scientific lectures, theater trainers, meetings council of the people, scientific community, and NGOs, Indonesian nationals, psychological melancholy, polite, miserable, and frustrated, broad insight and analytical skills. 3) The equality of the two character's dimensional characteristics, namely the physiological dimension: gender, sociological dimension: social status, psychological dimension: temperament. Differences in the dimensions of the two characters are physiological dimensions: age and body state, sociological dimensions: work, education, personal life, social activities, and nationality, psychological dimensions: attitude and behavior as well as IQ and intelligence.

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to find the femininity characteristics and identity developments as a homosexual in the character of Dante of Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secret of Universe novel. This research was categorized as descriptive qualitative research and was using content analysis approach. The researcher used Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secret of Universe novel as the source of data. The data were taken from the dialogues between characters and narrations that indicating Dante’s femininity characteristics based on Bem theory and his identity development as a homosexual based on Cass theory. From the finding of this research, it reveals that the character of Dante possess 16 out of 20 femininity characteristics which are affectionate, cheerful, childlike, compassionate, eager to soothe hurt feelings, feminine, gentle, gullible, sensitive of the needs of others, loyal, soft spoken, sympathetic, tender, understanding, warm, and yielding. Dante also fulfills 4 out of 6 identity developments which are identity of confusion, comparison, tolerance and acceptance. The character of Dante has femininity characteristics and he experiences the identity development phases to be a homosexual.

Abstract

Tradisi lisan dalam bentuk perkawinan merupakan salah satu peristiwa yang sakral dan sangat penting karena menyangkut nilai-nilai kehidupan. Salah satu adat perkawinan sebagai bentuk warisan budaya terdapat pada masyarakat suku Sasak desa Sambera Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara yaitu adat Sorong Serah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis makna yang terdapat dalam adat perkawinan Sorong Serah suku Sasak. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam jenis penelitian lapangan dan metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Data yang digunakan adalah data lisan. Adapun sumber data yaitu pemangku adat yang menangani adat perkawinan masyarakat suku Sasak, tokoh agama, dan para tokoh masyarakat. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian dalam pembahasan ini bahwa proses upacara adat perkawinan Sorong Serah suku Sasak desa Sambera meliputi : (1) Persiapan Arta Gegawan (seserahan nilai adat), (2) Persiapan Penampi (juru bicara pengantin perempuan), (3) Kedatangan Pisolo (petugas perlengkapan adat dan tamu), (4) Kedatangan Pembayun (juru bicara pengantin laki-laki), (5) Serah Terima Nilai Adat, (6) Megal Tali Jinah (pengesahan nilai adat).

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to find the class distinction in character of Adam and Lagavulin and the alienation in character of Adam from the Upside Down movie. This research utilized the method of qualitative research with the technique of observing and used content analysis. The data sources of this research were the script and movie of Upside Down. The data were taken from the dialog of each character and some narrations of Adam indicating the characteristics of class distinction and types of alienation based on the theory of Karl Marx. From the findings of this research, the characters in the movie revealed there were 7 characteristics of class distinction by looking at two types of class, bourgeoisie and proletariat, those are brutal exploiter, the ruler, own the means of production, productive force, the oppressed class, have no means of production, the revolutionary. Also, from the character of Adam, he revealed there were 4 types of alienation with the types as follow, the alienation of the worker in his product, the alienation from the act of production, the alienation from the true essence of our species-being, the alienation of a worker from other workers.

Abstract

Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini yaitu (1) bagaimana makna Ma’badong dalam Rambu Solo’ pemakaman Nek Langkun?(2) Bagaimana fungsi Ma`badong dalam Rambu Solo’ pemakaman Nek Langkun?. Tujuan penelitian adalah (1) mendeksripsikan makna Ma’badong dalam Rambu Solo’ pemakaman Nek Langkun, (2) mendeksripsikan fungsi Ma`badong dalam Rambu Solo’ pemakaman Nek Langkun. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu penelitian lapangan denggan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Data yang digunakan  dalam penelitian ini adalah kalimata atau paragraf hasil transkripsi dari dokumentasi Ma’badong dalam upacara kematian Nek Langkun. Sedangkan sumber data dalam penelitian ini yaitu dokumentasi berupa video upacara kematian Nek Langkun. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini meliputi: observasi dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis folklor yakni transkripsi dan transliterasi kemudian dilanjutkan dengan reduksi data, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil analisis makna dan fungsi ma’badong studi kasus Nek Langkun adalah sebagai mahluk sosial manusia harus berintraksi dan mengenal satu dengan yang lain. Melakukan kebaikan sesama manusia selama hidup, orang-orang akan mengigat kebaikan tersebut dan mendoakaannya. Karena semua mahluk yang dilahirkan di bumi pasti akan mengalami kematian. Kemudian kalau kita berusaha dengan sungguh-sungguh selama hidup pasti akan memperoleh kesuksesan, seperti yang sudah dilakukan Nek Langkun kepada anak dan cucunya. Sedangkan fungsi dari ma’badong dalam upacara kematian Nek Langkun terdiri atas empat, diantaranya: berfungsi sebagai spiritualitas, sebagai pembeda status sosial dalam masyarakat, sebagai sarana ekonomi, mempererat hubungan kekerabatan antar masyarakat.

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to find women's psychic and physical images, aims to describe the facts of the story, the psychological and physical images of women in female characters. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach and is included in the type of literature. The source of the research data is the novel Above Siang Di Bawah Malam by Putu Oka Sukanta. The data collection techniques used were reading and note taking techniques. Data analysis techniques are data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that the psychic images of the figures Josi, Lian, Ade, Gustini, Kiki, Lis, Lisa, Mimin, Ida, Romi, Elok, Rosi and Jasminah are almost similar, because of all the figures work as sex workers. From the point of view of their education is very minimal, therefore on average their thinking is limited as is the movement in their place of residence. In contrast to the figures of Dokter Niah and Field of Nunung who work like doctors and nurses, they are also figures who struggle with more advanced thinking. In the physical image, Josi, Lian, Ade, Gustini, Lis, Lisa, Mimin, Ida, Romi, Elok, Rosi and Jasminah are women who work as sex workers, they are depicted by dressing, dressing up in menor, creased, and neglected.

Abstract

The research focused on the types of code switching in Eleanor Young and the factors that influenced her using that code switching in Crazy Rich Asians Film. This film was about the woman who has a rich boyfriend from Singapore. Eleanor is the mother of that man. In some situation, there were some possibility that she used code switching. There are two theories that used in this research to answer two research questions. First, the researcher used the theory of types of code switching by Hoffman to analyze the type of code switching that used by Eleanor Young. Second, the researcher used theory by Hoffman to analyze the reason of the using that code switching.The data source were dialogue from Eleanor and the interlocutors in Crazy Rich Asians Film. The research design was descriptive qualitative method. The method of data collection was by collected the dialogue which categorized as code switching. The researcher provided the data in dialogues from Crazy Rich Asians film.Based on the analysis, the researcher drew two conclusion. First, this research showed Eleanor Young used inter sentinental switching, which happened between clause or sentence boundary. Second, there were three factors that influenced Eleanor Young used code switching. There were talking about particular topic, quoting somebody else, and repetition used for clarification.

Abstract

Homosexual identity formation is the process when someone comes first to consider themselves become a homosexual. It means that homosexual identity formation is when someone considered he/she becomes a homosexual. There are six stages of homosexual identity formation from Vivienne Cass which are, identity confusion, identity comparison, identity tolerance, identity acceptance, identity pride, and identity synthesis. This theory explained that in order for someone to change from non homosexual to homosexual, they will experience these stages of identity formation. These four stages of homosexul identity formation can be found in Zach character in the Shelter film.  The purpose of this research was to find out the the character of Zach undergo the stages of homosexual identity formation in his transformation from a non homosexual person to homosexual in the Shelter film (2007). This research is conducted as a qualitative research. The data of this research were the dialogue, duration, action, word, and picture based on the film. This research has  two data sources which is the Shelter film (2007), and also the script of the film itself. The data in this research were then analyzed by using Vivienne C in order to get deeper understanding and the character , Abram’s theory of characterization is adopted. The result of this research proved and showed that in Shelter film (2007) Zach went the six stages of Homosexual Identity Formation in his process becoming a homosexual person.
