Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas tentang teori tindak tutur berupa ujaran konstatif dan performatif yang terdapat dalam novel Perempuan di Titik Nol karya Nawal El-Saadawi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif, yang mana sumber datanya menggunakan sumber data primer dan sumber data sekunder. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik baca dan catat. Teknik validasi data menggunakan triangulasi dan meningkatkan ketekunan. Adapun teknik analisis data yang digunakan meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan simpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ujaran konstatif dan performatif yang terdapat dalam novel Perempuan di Titik Nol karya Nawal El-Saadawi masing-masing memiliki klasifikasi tertentu untuk masuk dalam kajian ujaran tersebut.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how ecological crises are categorized and interpreted through the element of setting in the documentary Eating Our Way to Extinction (2021). The film is selected as the object of study because it emphasizes the urgency of environmental destruction driven by the global food system, particularly practices of animal agriculture that have wide-ranging impacts. This research applies Greg Garrard’s ecocriticism within a qualitative descriptive method, employing categories such as pollution, wilderness, apocalypse, dwelling, animals, and the earth as analytical indicators. Through this framework, the analysis explores how ecological issues are represented not only as scientific facts but also as cultural narratives that shape audience perception. The findings reveal that ecological phenomena including deforestation, biodiversity loss, overfishing, water and air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and climate change are interpreted through story, narrative, atmospheric, temporal, and symbolic settings that structure the film’s message. These results demonstrate that setting is not merely a background but a central device that conveys the interconnectedness between human activity and ecological damage, thereby strengthening the persuasive force of the documentary. The study highlights how the use of setting contributes significantly to the film’s ecological discourse and offers a valuable perspective for ecocritical studies of visual media.

Abstract

This study aims to find the philosophical valuescontained in the Cangget tradition in Lampung Pepadun Society. An understanding of these philosophical values is very important to maintain the existence of the Cangget tradition in the midst of globalization. To achieve this goal, the researcher conducted a literature review of several studies on Cangget and conducted interviews with several traditional leaders of Lampung Pepadun. The object of the research material is the Cangget tradition in the culture of the people of Lampung Pepadun which is analyzed from the formal object of the philosophy of culture. The results of the study indicate that the Cangget tradition is included in one of Lampung's cultures in the form of community social activities. This tradition has several meanings, among others, as a form of traditional celebration of the Lampung people, as well as a form of the efforts of the people of Lampung Pepadun to maintain the purity of the traditions and customs of the people. The Cangget tradition also has philosophical values, including the value of togetherness or social value, the value of unity, the value of honor, the value of democracy, and the economic value.

Abstract

This study focused on the form of ekranization, from the novel Masih Ada Kereta Yang Akan Lewat by Mira. W, and film Arini Masih Ada Kereta Yang Akan Lewat by Ismail Basbeth. The purpose of this study is to describe the form of ekranization (additions, changes, and shrinking) through a comparison of facts from the novel to the film. This research uses literature review study, with descriptive-qualitative method. The data of this research are words, phrases, and sentences that exist in the novel and film. The technique of collecting the data of this research namely reading, taking notes, describing the film into a script, translating the film script and clarify the data. The analytical technique used are data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification. This research used comparative literature theory, story facts (plot, setting, and character), ekranization (additions, changes, and shrinking). The result of this research showed that the comparison between Masih Ada Kereta Yang Akan Lewat novel by Mira. W and Arini Masih Ada Kereta Yang Akan Lewat film by Ismail Basbeth have similar story and used mix plot. The difference occurred in the emergence of plot and new setting in the film. It is happen because of the compaction of the story in the film, all the information contained in the novel cannot be added into the film. The form of ekranization (changes) that happened in the Masih Ada Kereta Yang Akan Lewat novel to the Arini Masih Ada Kereta Yang Akan Lewat, tentd to be more additions to the film such as the emergence of new setting and plot in the film. This is happen because of the past setting did not much brought up and there also an element of adult story in this film. And did not rule out the possibility, that every processes of ekranization must undergo a change.

Abstract

Code mixing usage can easily be found in everyday use for public communication, both in formal and non-formal contexts. In this millennial era, code mixing is commonly found in social media, particularly in YouTube. In Indonesia, the video creators or usually called as YouTubers sometimes mix their languages, and the commonly mixed languages used are Indonesian and English. Considering the previously mentioned phenomena, this research focuses on analyzing and observing the code mixing on YouTube entitled Seleb English by Sacha Stevenson. The researchers applied qualitative method because the data of this study were described by looking at the reality that occurred in the form of oral language. What is more, the data were then analyzed and interpreted objectively in the forms of words and languages. The purposes of this study were to find out the types of code mixing, this was answered by using Muysken’s theory (2000) and in order to determine the reasons of using code mixing, Hoffmans’s theory (1991) was applied. Based on the result of this research, it is found that there are three types of code mixing such as insertion, alternation, and congruent lexicalization. In addition, the researchers found that the reasons of using code mixing in Seleb English are talking about a particular topic, being emphatic about something (express solidarity), interjection, repetition used for clarification, and expressing group identity. Therefore, code mixing as a language phenomenon is not only found in real life, but also in digital context.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas upaya revitalisasi kesenian Mamanda Kutai  oleh Sanggar Seni Budaya Kutai Bensamar sebagai bentuk pelestarian kesenian lokal di Dusun Bensamar, Kutai Kartanegara. Mamanda Kutai  merupakan seni pertunjukan teater klasik dengan iringan musik khas bernama Geduk yang dimainkan saat pelakon keluar dan masuk panggung. Kesenian ini mengalami stagnasi pada tahun 2020 hingga 2022 akibat minimnya minat generasi muda dan kurangnya regenerasi pelaku seni. Revitalisasi dimulai kembali pada tahun 2023 melalui pementasan pada Festival Kampong Adat Tuha Bensamar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnomusikologi, memanfaatkan teori unsur musik Bruce Benward untuk menganalisis struktur musik Geduk dan teori Revitalization Movements Anthony F. C. Wallace untuk mengkaji aspek non-musikal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan musik Geduk memiliki struktur khas yang memperkuat suasana pertunjukan, sementara proses revitalisasi enam tahap Wallace berhasil mengembalikan eksistensi Mamanda Kutai  dan memperkuat branding Kampong Adat Tuha.

Abstract

Prejudice is a hateful behavior towards someone based on their membership with the minority group. Someone counted in a minority group will get a prejudice act. This phenomenon frequently happens in literary works. Based on Gordon Allport’s theory, prejudice has several kinds, which are: antilocution, avoidance, discrimination, physical attack and extermination. As for the response given from the victim when receiving prejudice treatment, it can also be called the victim's of prejudice behavior. There are 2 behaviors: extropunitive and intropunitive. Prejudice is depicted in a film entitled The African Doctor. The film tells about prejudice which is done by French toward African – American. This research aims to reveal kinds of prejudice that experienced by African – American as a character in the film and to know the behaviors of African – American when they experienced prejudice. This research was conducted by using a descriptive method and qualitative approach. In this research, the researcher took the data from the scenes of the film and the conversations of the characters in the film. The result of the research shows that there are four of five kinds of prejudice portrayed namely antilocution, avoidance, discrimination, and physical attack. In addition, there are two victim’s behaviors of prejudice that portrayed in the research, which are extropunitive and intropunitive behavior. Prasangka adalah perilaku kebencian terhadap seseorang berdasarkan keanggotaannya dengan kelompok minoritas. Seseorang yang termasuk dalam kelompok minoritas akan mendapat tindakan prasangka. Fenomena ini sering terjadi dalam karya sastra. Berdasarkan teori Gordon Allport, prasangka memiliki beberapa macam, yaitu: antilokusi, penghindaran, diskriminasi, serangan fisik, dan pemusnahan. Adapun respon yang diberikan oleh korban saat menerima perlakuan prasangka juga bisa disebut dengan perilaku korban prasangka. Terdapat 2 perilaku: ekstropunitif dan intropunitif. Prasangka digambarkan dalam film berjudul The African Doctor. Film ini berkisah tentang prasangka yang dilakukan oleh orang Perancis terhadap orang Afrika – Amerika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap macam-macam prasangka yang dialami oleh orang Afrika-Amerika sebagai karakter dalam film dan untuk mengetahui perilaku orang Afrika-Amerika ketika mereka mengalami prasangka. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif dan pendekatan kualitatif. Dalam penelitian ini peneliti mengambil data dari adegan film dan percakapan para tokoh dalam film tersebut. Hasil penelitian terdapat empat dari lima amcam prasangka yang digambarkan yaitu antilokusi, penghindaran, diskriminasi, dan serangan fisik. Selain itu, terdapat dua perilaku dari para korban prasangka yang tergambar dalam film penelitian, yaitu perilaku ekstropunitif dan intropunitif.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out types of presupposition. Yule’s theory of types of presupposition is used by the researcher to find out and describe the types of presupposition found in “The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep (2007)” movie. The researcher uses descriptive qualitative method. The object of this research is a movie entitled “The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep (2007)” directed by Jay Russell. The data were taken from all scenes including the utterances uttered by speaker and heard by the interlocutors. The data source of this research is the movie script of “The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep (2007)”. In collecting data, the researcher chose the data which are all of the types of presupposition uttered by main characters in the movie. The researcher conducted observation by repeatedly watching, taking notes and classifying utterances for the type of presupposition uttered by the main characters in the movie. The researcher found 4 of 6 Yule’s six types of presupposition theory uttered by the characters in the movie. Those four types of presupposition are 46 utterances of existential presupposition which is the most frequently type uttered by the characters in this research, 11 utterances of structural presupposition, 9 utterances of lexical presupposition and the last least frequently type uttered by the characters is counter-factual presupposition which has 4 utterances only.

Abstract

This research focuses on the use of pauses and overlaps in the dialogue between characters in the film Love, Simon (2018). It uses Hutchby and Wooffitt’s theory of Conversation Analysis as the main framework. The goal is to explore how pauses and overlaps are used in the dialogue of Love, Simon (2018) film. The data consist of film dialogues containing pauses and overlaps, which were examined using qualitative method. The findings show that pauses often happen when characters feel emotionally vulnerable or try to be polite. Overlaps usually appear in emotional situations like conflict, interruption, or quick reactions. These features are not just technical parts of speech, they also show relationship dynamics and emotional depth. This research shows that small details in talk can carry deep meaning, especially in how people manage emotions, relationships, and identity through communication.

Abstract

Tindak tutur guru dalam interaksi belajar mengajar menarik untuk diteliti karena dapat berpengaruh terhadap tindakan dan keteladanan siswa. Tindak tutur dalam interaksi saat bimbingan konseling dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai pengajaran pragmatik. Dalam proses komunikasi dengan siswa, guru BK, akan mengutamakan tata krama yang khas, yaitu menggunakan tindak tutur direktif. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis, fungsi, dan strategi kesantunan tindak tutur direktif yang digunakan guru BK di SMA Negeri 2 Samarinda. Penelitian ini termasuk jenis penelitian lapangan dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan dipaparkan dalam metode deskriptif. Data berupa tuturan yang digunakan guru bimbingan konseling (BK) saat berinteraksi dengan siswa. Adapun sumber data adalah dua guru bimbingan konseling di SMA Negeri 2 Samarinda. Menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data simak bebas libat cakap yang dikombinasikan dengan teknik rekam dan catat, selanjutnya analisis data menggunakan metode padan pragmatik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis tindak tutur direktif yang digunakan guru BK yaitu (a) permintaan, (b) pertanyaan, (c) perintah, (d) larangan, (e) pemberian izin, dan (f) nasihat. Sedangkan fungsi dari tiap jenis tindak tutur direktif tersebut, yaitu (a) permintaan: meminta; (b) pertanyaan: bertanya, menginterogasi, meminta, menginterogasi dan menyarankan, serta bertanya dan menekan; (c) perintah: mengajak, menyetujui, menekan, menghendaki, menginstruksikan, mensyaratkan, mengatur dan menekan, serta menyarankan dan mengatur; (d) larangan: melarang dan menasehati; (e) pemberian izin: mensyaratkan dan membolehkan; dan (f) nasihat: mengarahkan; membolehkan; menginstruksikan dan membolehkan; menasehati dan melarang; mengarahkan dan menyarankan; menasehati dan menyarankan; mengarahkan dan menginstruksikan; membolehkan, mengarahkan, dan menginstruksikan; menasihati, membolehkan, dan bertanya;  membolehkan, melarang, dan menyarankan; serta menyarankan, mengonseling, dan menasehati. Adapun kesantunan tindak tutur direktif guru BK terdapat dua strategi, yaitu kesantunan positif dan negatif.
