Abstract

ABSTRACTThe current trend of artists, both individually and collectively, is to try to carry out activism-based art practices as an effort to explore the role of the artist in the community that supports them. In craft art, there is a term Craftivism which was first discovered by a craftsman Betsy Greer in 2007. An actor/activist in Sukabumi City, a craftsman and owner of the Batik Lokatmala production house named Fonna Melania, presents typical Sukabumi batik motifs to bring sustainable benefits to the community and the surrounding environment, craftsmen try to respond to social problems that are present in their environment using batik as a method. Namely the existence of people with disabilities who do not have the opportunity to work, craftsmen try to invite and offer training as well as work, namely batik. Until collaborating with the Sentra PHALA MARTA Foundation (social rehabilitation center), the aim is to increase the skills of people with disabilities. This research is the result of an analysis of an art movement and activism carried out by a batik craftsman in solving problems that are present in his environment. Using the Craftivism analysis method by Alyce McGovern, there are three aspects that need to be considered, the first aspect is the personal aspect of batik craftsmen who try to respond to social problems in their environment, the second aspect is the Lokatmala Batik community which is led directly by craftsmen in creating an ecosystem of relations/collaboration between craftsmen and people with disabilities in the production process at the Lokatmala batik house, and the third aspect is politics (power), namely how craftsmen present solutions, make statements and take a stand on problems in their social environment while fighting for change. The activism fought for by craftsmen through batik art is carried out for the purpose of change for the better, improving the standard of living and welfare of disabled groups in their social environment.  ABSTRACTThe current trend of artists, both individually and collectively, is to try to carry out activism-based art practices as an effort to explore the role of the artist in the community that supports them. Abstract

This study explores the creation process of "Weightless," a relaxation music piece by Marconi Union, with a focus on its compositional elements and how frequencies are manipulated. The aim is to deepen the understanding of both educators and undergraduate students regarding the use of Digital Audio Workstations in composing music, thereby promoting digital literacy within 21st-century music education. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, utilizing an exploratory approach and content analysis.Through this analysis, it becomes clear that "Weightless" effectively incorporates slow tempos, minimalistic textures, and gradual changes in dynamics to create a relaxing atmosphere. The frequency analysis highlights the importance of low frequencies (ranging from 20 to 200 Hz), which contribute to a sense of depth and tranquility. In contrast, mid and high frequencies are carefully balanced to ensure they do not overwhelm the listener. Additionally, the loudness analysis reveals a smooth dynamic range, with an average level of -13.9 LUFS and no sudden peaks, which guarantees a pleasant listening experience across various playback devices. Overall, these findings emphasize the critical role of precise frequency manipulation and loudness control in producing effective relaxation music, providing valuable insights for both music composition and education.

Abstract

The issue of manipulation in the problem of environmental damage is a topic that never expires. Literary works as a medium to disseminate good values and morals in life. One of them is the drama script Mata Air Mata (MAM) by Lab Teater Ciputat which raises environmental issues. Dissemination of this good message can be done because the MAM script is a collection of collective unconsciousness that needs to be traced to the markers and signifieds of the characters it presents. This study will discuss the collective unconsciousness in the form of archetypes, semiotic archetypes, and character ideologies from an ecocritical perspective, in the MAM drama script. The limitation of the problem focuses on the dominant archetype of each character in the MAM drama script, namely the character of Kabut Asap. The research methodology uses qualitative descriptive. The discussion uses the theory of the collective unconscious of Carl Gustav Jung and the semiotics of Charles Sanders Peirce. The results of this study show that the dominant archetype of the Kabut Asap character, namely the trickster, shows the ideology of anthropocentrism.

Abstract

The song “Panghudang Rasa” is one of the musical repertoires in the form of sekar-gending that is often presented in Kliningan and Wayang Golek performances. Eutik Muchtar's work is known to have a high level of musical difficulty, especially in the kepesindenan genre. This research aims to uncover the song's musical uniqueness, which includes the use of multi-laras, complex surupan variations, and deep poetic meanings. Using a descriptive qualitative method, this research analyzes audio and video recordings to identify its musical structure. The results show that this song uses Dwi-Laras, namely Degung and Madenda laras, with nine surupan: Madenda 4= Tugu, Madenda 4= Panelu, Madenda 5= Tugu, Madenda 2= Tugu, Madenda 5= Galimer, Madenda 2= Galimer, Degung 2= Tugu, Degung 3= Panelu, and Degung 5= Tugu. The song combines vocal and musical aspects, resulting in a complex and aesthetic structure. This finding confirms that “Panghudang Rasa” is a work that is not only beautiful in terms of musical aesthetics, but also rich in philosophical values.

Abstract

Regeneration of traditional arts is an important thing that really needs to be done because it is a strategic step in maintaining the sustainability of local culture. Jaranan thrives in the Tumpang area, but only the Satri Bokor group has a group of children aged 6 to 15 years. This research was specifically conducted to analyse the regeneration strategy for child Jaranan dancers carried out in the Satrio Bokor Tumpang Group, Malang Regency. The research method uses a qualitative descriptive approach, where data is obtained through observation, interviews and documentation. The research results show that the regeneration strategy is carried out through routine training every afternoon after school, a family approach, and involvement in Jaranan performances and YouTube social media promotions. The main challenges faced are competition with other emerging arts, namely Bantengan, limited funds, and children's time commitment. However, this regeneration has had a positive impact on preserving culture and forming the character of the younger generation. In conclusion, the regeneration strategy implemented by the Satrio Bokor Group is effective in involving children in loving and preserving Jaranan art, although further support from various parties is needed.
