Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to determine empirically the relationship between achievement motivation and academic stress with acadeic flow in boarding school student. The population in this study were students at a boarding school, while the sampling technique used is purposive sampling technique with a total of 100 subjects. Data collection tools are achievement motivation scale, academic stress scale and academic flow scale with four alternative answers. The data analysis method used is regression of two predictors. The results of the major hypothesis obtained rx12y coefficient of 0.772 with p 0.000 (p < 0.001) which means that there is a very significant relationship between achievement motivation and academic stress with academic flow with an effective contribution of 59,5% so that the major hypothesis is accepted. The results of the first minor hypothesis are accepted because the coefficient between rx1y is 0.638 with a significance level of p of 0.000 (p <0.01) meaning that there is a very significant positive relationship between achievement motivation and academic flow with an effective contribution of 40,7%. The second minor hypothesis  is also accepted because it shows the magnitude of the coefficient between rx2y of -0.705 with a significance of p of 0.000 (p <0.01) so that there is a very significant negative relationship between academic stress and academic flow and has an effective contribution of 49,7%. Based on the results of the study, it shows that achievement motivation and academic stress affect academic flow in students and become a reference for schools to improve students' academic abilities in learning. Keywords: Achievement Motivation, Academic Stress, Academic Flow.

Abstract

The increasing number of online dating application users is an interesting phenomenon, but research in Indonesia that discusses the related psychological aspects is still limited. This study aimed to determine the relationship between self-esteem and sensation seeking in early adulthood users of online dating applications. The subjects of this study were 214 people with characteristics: aged 20 to 34 years who used online dating applications. Data collection for this study used the Sensation Seeking Scale, namely the Zuckerman - Kuhlman - Aluja Personality Questionnaire (ZKA-PQ) with a reliability coefficient of α = 0.84 and the Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale (RSE) with a reliability coefficient of α = 0.753. The study's findings revealed that the self-esteem level was not significantly related to the tendency of sensation seeking in early adult users of online dating applications (rₛ = -0.045, p = 0.252). The results of this non-parametric statistical test failed to reject the null hypothesis, so it can be concluded that the two variables are independent of each other in the population studied.

Abstract

Mental health is essential for everyone, including those in the realm of education. However, there are still many cases related to mental health that arise in schools. This is a special concern so that school mental health can be upheld. The purpose of this article is to find out the picture of mental health in schools and determine what efforts and roles teachers play in building mental health in schools. The literature study method was done by summarizing, analyzing, and synthesizing several relevant literatures. The analysis results show that internal and external factors influence mental health. Mental health problems in Indonesian school environments are generally caused by low literacy rates related to the issue. In this case, teachers have a strategic role not only as information providers but also as role models who can positively influence the psychosocial development of students. Building mental health in schools can be done through mental health promotion efforts where all components of the school, including the organization within it and parents of students, contribute to support the development of mental health in schools. Abstract

AbstractAcademic achievement is the level of success in studying the learning material. It can be seen from the GPA, which is a number that describes the success of studies cumulatively (Saputro, 2022). Academic achievement factors (Arofah et al., 2020) include internal factors (physiology and psychology) and external factors (social and non-social environment). The study aimed to determine the differences in student academic achievement in terms of Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) and gender. The research sample was 160 students of the Faculty of General Medicine class of 2022 at Malahayati University, determined by random sampling technique. The data was collected using the MSLQ (Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire) scale, 2021/2022 academic year GPA, and students’ gender. The correlation test results were 0.562 (p = 0.000), where the p-value was lower than 0.05. Therefore, the proposed research hypothesis proved differences in academic achievement in terms of SRL and gender in the Faculty of General Medicine students at Malahayati University. The SRL contributed to academic achievement by 32%.

Abstract

AbstractVolunteers are people who decide to be involved in volunteering activities based on careful calculation. The activities by volunteers are voluntary and without expecting external rewards. The population in the study came from five social communities in Bandar Lampung: 1) Jendela Lampung Community, 2) Komunitas Peduli Generasi with Yayasan Rumah Singgah Peduli Lampung, 3) Komunitas Sedekah Lampung, 4) Komunitas Berbagi (Kombi), and 5) Itera Mengajar. From these five social communities, the researchers obtained a population of 202 volunteers. The researchers obtained a sample of 60 volunteers through purposive sampling techniques and screening. This study employed Likert scales data collection method, which includes a volunteer involvement scale, a social motive scale, and a group commitment scale. The data were analyzed using two predictor multiple regression analysis techniques assisted by the JASP 0.16.1.0 program for Windows. The results showed that the correlation value (r) was 0.337 with a significant p-value of 0.041 (p-value smaller than 0.05). The hypothesis is accepted; therefore, a significant relationship exists between social motives and group commitment on volunteer involvement. The R2 value of 0.155 states that the two independent variables effectively contribute 15.5%.Keywords: Volunteer Involvement, Social Motives, and Group Commitment

Abstract

The meaning of life is defined as things that are perceived as necessary, felt useful, and believed to be wonderful and can be used as a life goal. The meaning of life can be discovered in joyful and tragic situations. This research aims to examine the meaning of life among mothers with children who have been sexually abused. This study employs a qualitative method with a case study approach. The research subject is a mother with two sexually abused children. Interviews, observation, and documentation were employed as data-gathering methods. The findings revealed that women who had children who were victims of sexual abuse felt embarrassed, depressed, sad, and exhausted at first. However, the subject always strives to accept what happened to her two children, seeking help from institutes specializing in children. As a result, the subject can still perform positive things like working and expressing support, attention, love, and affection for her children. The subject's meaning of life for the circumstances that occurred to her children caused the subject to grow more attached to them because she was always connected with affection, could live his life with the conditions that transpired, and finally made the subject happy with her children. Keywords: Meaning of life; children as sexual abuse victims; mothers’ meaning of life.

Abstract

This study aims to analyzw the influence of religiosity and self-efficacy on the quarter-life crisis in final-year college students. The respondents in this study were final-year students of UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. The study had 323 respondents aged around 20-24 years. The research sample was taken using a non-probability sampling technique, with the respondent criteria being final-year students of the 2019 batch of UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. We used three instruments: the religiosity scale, self-efficacy scale, and quarter-life crisis scale, that had been declared valid and reliable. The data were tested and analyzed using the classical assumption test and multiple linear regression analysis with partial t-test hypothesis testing and simultaneous F-test. The results of the study showed that religiosity and self-efficacy simultaneously had a significant effect on quarter-life crisis and a negative impact on it, meaning that if there were an increase in religiosity and self-efficacy, the level of quarter-life crisis would decrease. The results of the analysis of the percentage of influence of each variable obtained a percentage value of negative impact on quarter-life crisis of 6.9% on the religiosity variable and 19.6% on the self-efficacy variable. This finding implies that increasing the religiosity and self-efficacy of students can be an effective strategy to reduce psychological stress related to quarter-life crises and can be used as a basis for developing prevention and intervention programs in higher education environments Keywords: religiosity, self-efficacy, quarter life crisis

Abstract

Personality disorder is one of the chronic psychological problems because it affects many aspects of individuals. Individuals with personality disorders are usually unaware that they are suffering from psychological problems. Paranoid personality disorder is a specific type of personality disorder. The characteristic of this disorder is an overbearing suspicion of others. The exact cause of this personality disorder is unknown because there have been few studies on it. The purpose of this study is to discover and describe the causes of the subject's paranoid personality disorder. This study is qualitative and has a case study design. The subject of this study is a 29-year-old man with paranoid personality disorder. The data collection techniques employed were interviews, observations, psychological assessments, and documentation. Thematic analysis was used to examine the data. The findings revealed that traumatic events in childhood were the primary cause of the subject's personality disorder. The events involved parental violence and being a victim of bullying. The subject struggled to adjust and form social relationships with others as a result of his early life experiences. He had difficulty making friends and was bullied throughout his school years. These painful experiences with others convinced him that interacting with others was dangerous, so he continued to suspect everything the people around him did. The finding demonstrates how traumatic events from the past can cause paranoid personality disorder.
