Abstract

This research seeks to determine the relationship between student perceptions and the implementation of punishment in student discipline. This research employed a correlational quantitative approach. The research involved 131 eleventh-grade students of Palembang's senior high school. This research used a purposive sampling technique. The data was analyzed using multiple linear regression with IBM SPSS software version 22.0 for Windows. This research collected data using three scales: student perception, punishment, and discipline. The major hypothesis test yielded rx12-y = 0.601, F = 36.232, and sig < 0.05, indicating that student perceptions and punishment can predict discipline among eleventh-grade high school students in Palembang. Therefore, students' perceptions of discipline and punishment constitute an effective 36.1% contribution to student discipline, with the remaining 63.9% influenced by variables outside of the research. The first hypothesis test yielded rx1-y = 0.251 with a significance level of <0.05. It means there is a significant positive influence between student perceptions and discipline among eleventh-grade high school students in Palembang, with a 29% effective contribution to punishment. The second hypothesis test yielded rx2-y = 0.499, with a significance level of <0.05. It means that the punishment significantly positively influences student discipline among eleventh-grade high school students in Palembang, with an effective contribution of 7%.Keywords: Student Perception, Punishment, Student Discipline

Abstract

This research investigates the detrimental effects of electronic game use on the behavior of kindergarten children, with a focus on gender disparities, as perceived by parents in the Sharazoor district. The study, employing descriptive methods, encompasses a sample of 160 equally distributed children of both genders from kindergartens affiliated with the Directorate of Education of Sharazoor—specifically, Mastan, Chro, Sara, and Papula. Utilizing a survey form comprising 32 items, the researchers statistically analyze the collected data, assigning three response options (Yes, Sometimes, No) with corresponding marks (3,2,1).The psychometric measures, including arithmetic mean, discriminant values, T values for one and two samples, Jetman statistical coefficient for distribution, and Cooper statistical coefficient using the t.test, were employed for data analysis. The key findings reveal that 90% of boys (72 out of 80) engage in electronic game usage, while 75% of girls (60 out of 80) participate in such activities. This discrepancy underscores a notable difference in electronic game usage between boys and girls in the experimental community, indicating a higher prevalence of electronic game addiction among boys. The study concludes with several recommendations for mitigating the negative impact of electronic game use on kindergarten children's behavior, acknowledging the importance of gender-sensitive interventions in addressing this issue.

Abstract

Subjective well-being is a person's perception of his life experience and affection for his life Diener (1984). Based on observations, teenagers who live in orphanages seem to want more attention. Adolescents basically enter a transitional period and need guidance and affection from their parents, but they cannot get this at the orphanage. This is very risky for the emergence of negative emotions which of course will interfere with their subjective well being. So that self-control is needed to reduce negative emotions that might occur to teenagers in the orphanage. Individuals who have good self-control will be able to express their emotions appropriately according to the circumstances they are facing. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-control and subjective well-being in adolescents living in orphanages in Pringsewu Regency. The sample in this study were 60 adolescents according to predetermined criteria, namely those who resided in the orphanage of Putri Tunas Harapan Aisyiyah and Putra Umul Mukmin Aisyah Binti Abubakar in Pringsewu Regency. The data collection method in this study was to use a scale and use the Product Moment correlation technique with the help of the SPSS 20.0 for windows program using Cronbach Alpha. The results of the correlation in this study are that there is a significant positive relationship between self-control and subjective well-being.Keywords: Self-Control, Subjective Well-Being, Adolescents

Abstract

This research explores the relationship between family vulnerability, spirituality, and resilience during the Covid-19 pandemic. With a quantitative approach and cross-sectional study design, samples were taken randomly using a random sampling method, involving 189 husbands/wives willing to participate. Data collection was carried out through interviews (both online and offline) using a modified questionnaire based on the Sunarti (2021) scale to measure family resilience and family vulnerability, as well as Underwood's (2003) DSES (Daily Spiritual Experience Scale) scale to measure spirituality. The research results show that there is a significant negative relationship between family vulnerability and family resilience, while spirituality has a significant positive correlation with family resilience. In addition, family vulnerability and spirituality together contributed 17.2% to the variation in family resilience. These findings contribute to understanding family resilience in the COVID-19 era and indicate the need for further discussion in future research. Keywords: Family resiliency, family vulnerability, spirituality, COVID-19

Abstract

According to numerous views of self-acceptance, those who can accept themselves are aware of their traits and are not caught in anger, blaming others, or pitying themselves for their limitations. The goal of this study is to determine self-acceptance in inmates based on gender differences and level of education. The study hypothesizes differences in self-acceptance among inmates based on gender and educational level. This study involved 124 Class IIA Yogyakarta Correctional Facility inmates and Class IIB Women's Correctional Facility. The purposive sampling technique was employed to select the participants. The data collecting technique employed was a self-acceptance scale. The data analysis technique performed was the 2-way ANOVA. Hypothesis testing yielded a FoAB value of 0.991, with a significance level 0.000 (P <0.01). As a result, the study's hypothesis has been proven: there are differences in self-acceptance among inmates based on gender and education level. The researchers tested separately to see if there were differences in the self-acceptance of inmates based on gender and obtained a FoA value of 0.659 with a significance level of 0.000 (P < 0.01). There is no difference in self-acceptance based on education level where the FoB value is 0.000 with a significant level of 0.928 (P> 0.05).Keywords: Gender, Inmates, Self-Acceptance, Level of education

Abstract

Lampung Province has a rather high crime rate, particularly since most of these criminals are still in adolescence. Teenagers who engage in such criminal action are more likely to repeat the act, which might be categorized as a conduct disorder tendency. This research aims to investigate the relationship between authoritarian parenting and conduct disorder. The sampling technique employed was cluster sampling, with 395 high school students from science and social studies majors in the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades in Bandar Lampung. The research instruments included a conduct disorder tendency questionnaire, an authoritarian parenting questionnaire, and demographic data, such as student gender. The data analysis comprised multiple linear regression. The findings of statistical analysis show that authoritarian parenting and gender have an impact on the probability of conduct disorder. These findings emphasize the importance of considering parents' roles and approaches while raising children and adolescents. This research is expected to be useful in developing more successful family education interventions or programs, particularly in increasing the dynamics and quality of relationships between parents and children or adolescents. Keywords: Tendency of conduct disorder, authoritarian parenting, gender

Abstract

Parenting a child with an intellectual disability is a difficult challenge for a mother, who must have confidence and resilience to care for and raise a child as a mandate from Allah. This study aims to examine parenting self-efficacy in mothers of children with intellectual disabilities in terms of hardiness. Parenting self-efficacy refers to the perceived ability of parents to positively impact their children's behavior and development. Hardiness is a personality trait that allows people to survive difficult situations (Kobasa, Maddi & Kahn, 1982). This study employed the purposive sampling technique with 57 mothers with intellectually disabled children. The instruments to collect the self-efficacy data were the parenting task index (SEPTI) and the toughness scale. The data was analyzed using the Pearson product-moment correlation formula assisted by JASP 18.1 software for Windows. The study found a significant positive correlation between hardiness and parenting self-efficacy among mothers of intellectually disabled children (R = 0.539 and R² = 0.291, p < 0.01). Thus, parenting self-efficacy effectively contributed 29.1%, with the remaining 70.9% influenced by variables not investigated in this study. Keywords: Hardiness, parenting self-efficacy, mothers of children with intellectual disability.

Abstract

The Strawberry Generation is a generation that is innovative, creative and has brilliant ideas but has a character that is easily fragile when receiving social pressure and has low social resilience abilities. Strawberry Generation refers to the age of the late millennial generation to the early Generation Z. The influencing factors are self-efficacy, self-esteem, optimism, social support, and level of religiosity. The Strawberry Generation can survive and rise from adversity by having social resilience. The aim of this research is to find out that religiosity has an impact on social resilience among Strawberry Generation students at SMK N 6 Surakarta. This research is quantitative correlational research. This research was conducted at SMK N 6 Surakarta with a total sample of 218 students from classes X and XI who were selected using accidental sampling. Data were collected using a religiosity scale (38 items with α 0.930) and a social resilience scale (36 items with α 0.958). Using content validity test with Aiken's V coefficient. Assumption tests are carried out using normality tests and reliability tests. Hypothesis testing using product moment correlation assisted with SPSS Version 25. The results of this research are that religiosity has an impact on social resilience with a correlation coefficient of 0.578 with a significance level of 0.000 (p<0.05) which shows that there is a positive relationship between religiosity and social resilience. This means that the higher the religiosity, the higher the social resilience of students and vice versa. The conclusion in this research is that H0 is accepted and Ha is rejected. The implication of this research is that religiosity can be a predictor in increasing social resilience in Strawberry Generation students at SMK N 6 Surakarta. Abstract

There is a gap between parents' expectations of having a healthy and normal child and the reality of having a child born with an intellectual disability. This condition often triggers negative emotional responses such as denial, guilt, and frustration among parents. The inability to accept the child's condition frequently leads to suboptimal parenting, which negatively affects the child's development. Therefore, an effective psychological intervention, such as positive thinking training, is needed to help parents improve their acceptance of children with intellectual disabilities. This study aims to examine the differences in the level of parental acceptance before and after participating in positive thinking training. The research design used was a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects consisted of eight parents of children with intellectual disabilities who initially had low scores in parental acceptance. The measurement tool used was the Parental Acceptance Scale, which consists of 48 items with a reliability of 0.957. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon T-Test. The results showed a significant difference in parental acceptance scores before and after the training, with a z-value of 2.525 (p < 0.005).
