Abstract

This paper describes various strategies and tactical steps that are applied in managing educational laboratories that must manage a large capacity practicum effectively and efficiently, while maintaining good quality. This study uses a descriptive approach to study the quality of the implementation and management of practicum at LDTE which is characterized by the perceptions and assessments of practicum and staff. Surveys from student participants show that the laboratory and practicum management at LDTE has gone well and satisfactorily. Every semester, Basic Laboratory of Electrical Engineering (LDTE), School of Electrical and Informatics Engineering, Bandung Institute of Technology is targeted to serve around 370 students from three study programs who take an average of two practicum subjects from the seven practicum subjects held.

Abstract

The objective of this research is how the leadership of the principal can improve the work ethic of teachers in schools. The research method used a case study with a qualitative research approach. The results showed that the increase in the work ethicof teachers was evident from the leadership style adopted by the headmaster, so that a significant increase was obtained according to the vision and mission of the school. Work ethic is a mental attitude that contains values related to the morale of a teacher. The work of a teacher is currently understood as a professional, for that a teacher is required to have a work ethic that has positive work behavior at the level of awareness, confidence and high commitment in order to achieve the goals, vision and mission of the organization.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal how the Muhammadiyah Vocational School teachers understand, respond to and implement Classroom Action Research (CAR) to improve the quality of learning practices in the context of contemporary education reform. This research is a qualitative research by making observations through a questionnaire. Research respondents were 60 teachers of SMK Muhammadiyah in Bantul, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Data were collected through a questionnaire and analyzed to draw conclusions. The results showed that 96.7% percent had not implemented CAR and only 3.3% of teachers had implemented CAR. Barriers to not implementing CAR include factors due to cost and time as well as the ability of teachers. The findings of this study are very important for teacher professional development programs by both government and schools because increasing teacher professionalism will have an impact on student achievement.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the implementation of character education management at Universitas Pamulang and to find out the barrier factors in implementing character education. This research applied qualitative approach. The subjects of this research consisted of the foundation, rector, team of vice rector III, lecturers, and students of Universitas Pamulang. The data in this research were collected by observation, document analyses, and interviews. The technique of data analysis used referred to data analysis of interactive model, which is triangulation.The findings of the implementation of character education management were: First, the planning to grow shared awareness and to equalize the perception on the importance of value or character integration. Second, organizing the distributions of tasks, authorities, and responsibilities to the whole lecturers, especially the lecturers of religion subject and the team of Vice Rector III.Third, mobilizing the academic, non-academic activities; ways and processes to improve the activities. Fourth, controlling; observing what have been achieved and felt by the implementation of education character by the foundation, rector, all lecturers, team of Vice Rector III, religion subject lecturers, and students.Meanwhile there was a barrier in implementing the character education management at UniversitasPamulang. That was the limited human resources that actively implemented the existing programs.

Abstract

This study aims to explore how the process of innovation and creativity of teachers in private elementary schools in Cilacap in making teaching materials during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used in this research is qualitative research methods. Participants in this study were one teacher who we determined using purposive sampling technique, with the criteria: private SD teachers in Cilacap City, developing  innovative materials, and we collected data through online interviews. The results showed that the teaching materials used by teachers in the learning process in private schools in urban areas; participants took several stages to make creative and innovative teaching materials during the Mas pandemic. The steps are as follows: (1) analyze the needs of teaching materials (2) compile a map of teaching materials (3) structure the teaching materials, and (4) synchronize with school’s curriculum. Distance learning is the best alternative for schools to do during the covid- 19 pandemic. To be able to produce effective distance learning, teachers must innovate and be creative to develop teaching materials that can be used as media for distance learning. Teachers at private elementary schools in Cilacap City are among those who have been able to develop innovative teaching materials during the Covid-19 period so that learning becomes useful.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of ethical leadership, teacher capacity building and school culture in the implementation of character education. This study used a mixed method sequential expalanatory survey method of 252 private junior high schools in West Java, known as Boarding Schools, data analysis used a Co-variant-based SEM approach. The results showed that leadership in boarding school-based junior high schools was formed by the leadership's awareness of ethical values. The teacher is not yet fully ready to accept the online-based learning process and the inter-action limitation system in terms of efforts to achieve learning objectives in the learning system in the boarding school. The cultural values developed include local wisdom, orientation to science and theology. The successful implementation of character education depends on the ability, capability and contribution of the individual in providing character education. Ethical leadership, teacher capacity building and school culture have a significant role in the effectiveness of implementing character education.

Abstract

This study is focused on examining the management of improving the quality of lecturers in research at universities. The research method used is descriptive qualitative in Private Universities in Bandung involving respondents from university leaders, the Directorate of PPM, deans, study programs and lecturers. The results of the research show that the implemented policy becomes an element of determination in managerial aspects of safety in terms of success targets, research evaluation, and research. In the aspect of personal management, research development is carried out for lecturers capable of making proposals, attending scientific forums nationally and internationally and providing research incentives and scientific publications. While in the managerial aspects of society, the improvement of the quality of lecturers in research is designed as a form of contribution to solving problems in the community which is an emphasis on improving the ability of lecturers to conduct research.
