Abstract

Society of Lingkungan VIII Kelurahan Gedung Johor, Medan City utilizes the Al-Buchari Mosque as a means of worshiping and gaining knowledge for the Muslim community. However, Al-Buchari Mosque still uses water containers to wash the hands of its worshipers in order to prevent the transmission of the Sars-Cov 2 virus, which is an increasingly worrying situation. Medan Johor District is a red zone area in terms of the spread of the Sars-Cov 2 Virus. Based on data from the Corona Pandemic Prevention Task Force, Medan City has had more than 1000 positive cases of Covid-19 in the city of Medan. This is due to the lack of public awareness of the importance of washing hands, maintaining distance, and wearing masks. One of the effective ways to prevent the transmission of the Sars Cov-2 virus is to create a sink that does not require us to hold it but control it with our feet. So that the spread of the virus through hand media can be avoided. With this non-contact hand washing, people who worship at the Al-Buchari Mosque will minimize the transmission of the Sars Cov-2 virus through hand media.

Abstract

We report the provision of chitosan oligomers from pen squid as anti-microbial effect. Chitosan oligomer obtained by adding 10 ml HNO2 in chitosan solution and then incubated for one night at room temperature. Depolymerization of chitosan can be determined by looking at a decrease in its viscosity by using viscometer oswald and molecular weight using the equation Kuhn-Mark-Houwink. Antibacterial test was determined by agar diffusion method. The results showed that the viscosity value of the viscosity standard oligomers with the addition of 10 ml of HNO2 decreased by 76,49% and the molecular weight decreased by 80.94%. Antimicrobial Test uses two microbesstaphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli with variations in the concentration of 0,5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2% and 2,5% chitosan oligomers, anti-microbial test results obtained the largest clear zone on chitosan oligomers with a concentration of 1% is equal to 13,4 in Escherichia coli and 16,2 in staphylococcus aureus.

Abstract

Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) is the management of hygiene and health when women experience menstruation. The main problem in adolescents related to menstruation is the lack of knowledge about MSM and poor water sanitation. Many girls don't have the right understanding that menstruation is a normal biological process. Community service aims to improve students' knowledge and attitudes about menstrual health management. The method used is socializing; identify the state of menstrual health service facilities in schools: bathrooms, water, information; carry out bathroom renovations; provide educational media about menstrual health management in the form of posters, videos, leaflets, modules and flip sheets. Pre-test and post-test aims to identify students' knowledge and attitudes about menstrual health management. Analysis of the data used is the dependent t test. The knowledge of students before being given health education majority was in the sufficient category and thereafter increased to good. Likewise, students' attitudes increase to be positive. The statistical test results obtained mean difference of 7.72 and P Value = 0.001, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of health education on knowledge. For attitudes the mean difference is 1.62 and the P value = 0.001, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence on health education on student attitudes. Therefore it is suggested to the school to include this topic in the subject matter. So students can apply it early and their reproductive health can be maintained.

Abstract

This Community Service activity is understanding English terms during the Covid-19 pandemic to Teachers and Students of the Raudhatul Ulum Riduan Education Foundation, Hamlet XII, Celawan Village, Pantai Cermin District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. As it is known that in early March 2020, the Corona Virus (Covid-19) outbreak began to spread to Indonesia. The epidemic, which originally came from China, is an epidemic that spreads easily, so the WHO (World Health Organization) has issued many recommendations and instructions to the world to curb this epidemic. Because WHO is a world health organization, the terms issued are of course in English. For people in Indonesia, especially those who do not understand English, of course these terms sound foreign. Even though these terms contain important information and advice in this Covid-19 pandemic situation. The final goal to be achieved in this service is the understanding of teachers and students of these English terms so that they can fully implement the suggestions and instructions contained in these English terms.

Abstract

Sialang Village is one of the villages in North Sumatra, precisely located in Bangun Purba District, Deli Serdang Regency. The village is surrounded by oil palm plantations, both company-owned and private, with the main livelihood of the villagers working on oil palm plantations and also raising cattle. The village's potential to produce palm fronds waste is very large, but the villagers do not use palm fronds waste because they do not know how to treat this waste. Meanwhile, grass as animal feed has become increasingly difficult to obtain from time to time because residents have maximized the use of empty land for planting oil palm. Therefore, the University of North Sumatra community service team wants to apply science and technology in Sialang Village in the form of transfer of knowledge and technology on processing palm frond waste into animal feed integrated with chopper machines.
