Abstract

In Islamic jurisprudence, there is a difference of opinion among scholars regarding the permissibility of selling breast milk (ASI). The Maliki and Shafi'i schools of thought allow it, while Abu Hanifah forbids it. The scholars who permit the sale argue that breast milk is pure and lawful to consume, so there is no prohibition against selling it. They liken it to the milk of animals, which is generally permissible to sell. On the other hand, Abu Hanifah prohibits the sale of breast milk based on the argument that babies require it, and its sale could lead to exploitation. He reasons that, just as human flesh is forbidden to eat, breast milk should be treated similarly, as it is intrinsically linked to the human body. His stance is based on the analogy (qiyas) that, since human flesh is haram (forbidden) to consume, anything associated with the human body, such as breast milk, should also be considered haram to sell.

Abstract

This article discusses how the concept of Insan Kamil is perceived in contemporary Sufism. The fundamental principle of Sufism is Tawhid, and if Tawhid is lost from a believer, the essence of the human heart will change, causing them to fall from the dignity of humanity. In other words, the concept of wahdat al-wujūd is a direct consequence of Tawhid, which subsequently gives rise to the concept of insān kāmil. To analyze this discussion, the author employs an analytical-descriptive method, ultimately concluding that in the thoughts of contemporary Sufis, both from Persia, such as Ayatollah Imam Khomeini and Ayatollah Hasan Zadeh Amuli, as well as contemporary Sufis in Indonesia like Abah Guru Sekumpul and Emha Ainun Nadjib, there is a commonality regarding the Divine Essence of Allah Swt, which is beyond the understanding of past or future, transcends time and space, and has no representation of the Divine Essence. Insan Kamil is viewed as the locus of the manifestation of all the most perfect names of Allah Swt. According to them, all the characteristics of Insan Kamil are manifested in the person of the Prophet Muhammad Pbuh. Therefore, anyone wishing to achieve a spiritual station of Insan Kamil should emulate the Messenger of Allah in all dimensions of his life.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze Islamic stocks as an alternative investment that aligns with Sharia principles in the Indonesian capital market. The primary focus of the study is to understand the mechanism of Islamic stock investments, the legal foundations supporting them, as well as the challenges and opportunities for their development. Given the increasing interest in Sharia-compliant investments, this research also seeks to provide a deeper understanding of the contribution of Islamic stocks to the Indonesian economy and the importance of financial literacy in the community. The methodology used in this study is a qualitative approach with a literature review, which includes analyzing primary sources such as the Qur'an, Hadith, and relevant literature on Sharia investments and the capital market. Additionally, this research examines the regulations governing the Islamic capital market in Indonesia, including the screening process for Sharia-compliant stocks by the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The findings show that although the Islamic stock market in Indonesia has grown significantly, there are still major challenges regarding the lack of public understanding of the mechanisms and legal foundations of Islamic stocks. The strict screening process ensures that listed stocks comply with Sharia principles. The study also highlights the need for more comprehensive education and outreach regarding Islamic stocks to increase public participation in the Sharia-compliant capital market. This research is expected to provide insights for investors, regulators, and market participants in developing the Islamic capital market in Indonesia and enhancing financial literacy within the community.

Abstract

This study focuses on the financial system and zakat in the Umayyad era from the perspective of Islamic economic thought. This study will include an analysis of the banking system applied. This study uses a literature review method to examine the financial and tax systems in the Umayyad era from the perspective of Islamic economic thought. The focus of this study lies in the use of currency, banking system, types of taxes and how they are managed. Data will be collected through relevant literature, such as books on the history of the Umayyad government, works of Islamic historians and economists, and primary sources such as historical documents and official documents of the Umayyad government. The results of this study are that the financial and zakat systems during the Umayyad era had advantages in terms of infrastructure development, good cash management, and structured banking regulations. However, there are weaknesses, such as limited regulations, many violations, and error limits. Therefore, public financial management at that time still needed improvement and refinement to increase efficiency and equity. These principles are still relevant in modern financial and tax management. Therefore, the concept of Islamic economics during the Umayyad era can be used as a valuable reference for fair and transparent financial and tax management, as well as ensuring equal distribution of income and opportunities for all members of society. These principles are still relevant today and can be a reference in the development of modern Islamic economics. Thus, the Umayyad era shows that Islamic economic principles can function well if implemented in accordance with the principles of justice, transparency, and efficiency.

Abstract

This article examines the existence and role of Islamic educational institutions for the children of migrant workers from Madura in Malaysia. The phenomenon of labour migration from Indonesia to Malaysia has created a need for adequate education for the children of migrant workers, especially in the context of Islamic education which is an integral part of their cultural identity. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach, involving in-depth interviews and field observations in several Madurese communities in Malaysia. The research results show that there are various Islamic educational institutions that serve the children of Madurese migrant workers, ranging from formal institutions such as the Kota Kinabalu Indonesian School (SIKK) and the Kuala Lumpur Indonesian School (SIKL), to non-formal institutions such as the Indonesian Education Center (PPI) and Madurese Learning Community (KBM). Apart from that, there are also informal educational initiatives such as home recitations and study programs at mosques or surau. While these institutions play a key role in defending Islamic values and Madurese culture, they face various challenges such as resource constraints, legality issues, and the need to balance religious education with the demands of general education. This article also explores the adaptation strategies implemented by these institutions, including the use of technology for distance education and cooperation with local authorities. In conclusion, the existence of Islamic educational institutions for the children of Madurese migrant workers in Malaysia has deep significance, not only in the context of religious education, but also as a means of cultural preservation and preparation for reintegration into Indonesia. This research recommends increased support from the governments of Indonesia and Malaysia, as well as closer cooperation between various stakeholders to strengthen and develop these Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

The increase in the Value Added Tax (VAT) rate to 12%, effective January 2025, based on Law Number 7 of 2021 concerning the Harmonization of Tax Regulations (HPP Law), has had a significant impact on production and consumption behavior in Indonesia. This increase impacts producers facing increased production costs, particularly those related to raw materials subject to VAT. Producers are required to adjust their production strategies, including price adjustments, increased operational efficiency, and product diversification. Meanwhile, consumers face the impact of rising prices for goods and services, which impacts purchasing power, particularly among low- and middle-income groups. In response to this VAT rate increase, the government is expected to implement consumer protection policies, such as subsidies for basic goods and social assistance, to maintain purchasing power and prevent further economic inequality. This study explores the relationship between taxation and production behavior and suggests strategies that producers can adopt to maintain competitiveness in an increasingly competitive market.

Abstract

Deductive logic plays an important role in developing a student's critical thinking skills, especially Islamic Religious Education students. A student can use the deduction process to draw valid conclusions based on premises that have been accepted as true. In Islamic religious education, this ability is very necessary in analyzing and understanding religious concepts that require in-depth understanding, such as interpretation of the Koran, Hadith, and so on. Through deductive logic, students can develop a critical nature towards the many interpretations of existing religious teachings, and are able to differentiate between various points of view based on rationalism and dogmaticism. A mature abstraction of thought accompanied by the use of a deductive approach will help students build coherent and structured arguments in addressing contemporary issues related to the Islamic religion. Therefore, mastering the logic of deduction not only improves students' critical thinking skills, but also enriches their perspective in understanding and applying Islamic teachings in everyday life.
