Abstract

This article examines the concept of child education according to Muhammad Quraish Shihab, a prominent Muslim scholar whose views are known to be moderate and relevant in the modern era. Shihab emphasizes the importance of education that includes spiritual, moral, and intellectual aspects, with the main foundation of tawhid and noble morals. According to him, the role of parents is very central as the main role model in educating children, which should be done with love and patience. In addition, in the digital era, Shihab encourages the wise use of technology in the education process to equip children to face the challenges of the times without ignoring Islamic values. The implementation of education that he promotes is oriented towards the formation of strong character and religious commitment that can adapt to the times. Shihab's thoughts on children's education are an important reference in answering the challenges of Islamic education in the midst of dynamic social changes.

Abstract

Management strategies in the development of education in madrasas play an important role in improving the quality of educational institutions and their relevance in facing the challenges of globalization and modernization. This research aims to analyze the strategies implemented by madrasas in developing education, including improving the curriculum, competency of teaching staff, and improving the welfare of teaching staff. The research was carried out with a quantitative approach that focused on collecting and analyzing numerical data to identify patterns, relationships or comparisons within certain populations in the Diniah madrasah in the Suranenggala sub-district, Cirebon Regency. The research results show that the development of education in madrasas is carried out through several main strategies: first, improving the quality of the curriculum by integrating religious material; second, recruitment and development of teacher competency to increase the professionalism of teaching staff; and third, strategies to improve the welfare of teaching staff and physical madrasa facilities. However, there are several obstacles, such as limited teacher educators who are competent in their fields, financial support and parental support for early madrasah education, which hinder the implementation of this strategy. This research recommends continued support from the government and community to maximize strategic efforts in developing quality madrasah.

Abstract

The Qur'an, as the holy scripture, contains teachings for practicing Islam as a religion of rahmatan lil 'alamin (mercy for all worlds). One of these teachings is the prohibition of riba (usury), with the verses concerning riba being among the last legal verses revealed before the passing of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). These verses are often accompanied by Allah’s warnings. According to the asbab al-nuzul (circumstances of revelation) of Surah Al-Baqarah verses 278 and 279, it is narrated that the Bani Mughirah were significantly affected by riba, leading them to lament, "We are the most miserable people because of riba." On the other hand, Bani Amr felt they could live comfortably by exploiting riba. In Surah Al-Baqarah verse 275, the Qur'an describes those who engage in riba transactions as being akin to a staggering individual. The term "staggering" refers to the condition of those who engage in riba transactions pretending to stand firm when, in reality, they are unstable. The purpose of this study is to explore the concept of riba in the Qur'an and its impact on life by analyzing the asbab al-nuzul of the verses concerning riba. This research employs a descriptive-qualitative method aimed at understanding the concept of riba in the Qur'an and its implications for life. The findings of this study reveal that riba is one of the practices strongly condemned in the Qur'an. This is evident from the frequent association of riba with Allah’s warnings. These warnings are not without reason, as the practice of riba has significant detrimental effects, including moral, psychological, social, and economic harm, as highlighted in one of the narratives related to the asbab al-nuzul of the verses on riba.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that geographical conditions played an important role in shaping the social, political and legal dynamics in pre-Islamic Makkah and Madinah. This research aims to analyse how geographical factors influenced the development of social structures, political systems and legal norms in the two cities before the advent of Islam. This research adopts a normative legal approach and a descriptive method of analysis. Data was collected using literature review techniques from historical, legal and social sources related to the pre-Islamic period. The data was then analysed using qualitative data analysis techniques to understand the relationship between geographical conditions and the dynamics that occurred. The results of this study show that the geographical conditions of Makkah and Madinah, such as their strategic location on trade routes and challenging geographical environment, contributed to the formation of a hierarchical social structure and a political system based on clan power. The legal system also evolved according to the pragmatic needs of the local community to maintain social and economic stability. The findings of this study suggest the need for a deeper understanding of the relationship between geography and socio-political dynamics as a basis for studying the transformation of law and community structure, especially in areas that have experienced significant historical change.

Abstract

This article discusses various important aspects of applying Qur'anic values in modern life. This article aims to see the relevance of Islamic teachings in dealing with social issues such as justice in QS. Al-Hujurat verse 9 by using Fazlur Rahman's dynamic approach in an effort to explore the understanding of the verse with precision. This literature research uses descriptive-qualitative method. The results showed that Fazlur Rahman's dynamic approach seeks to combine religious texts with the context of human history in maintaining the relevance of Islam as a religion that can adapt to the dynamics of time and place (double movement). This shows that Islam with its universal values can offer solutions to the various challenges of modern life through a flexible, just and principled understanding. The moral idea obtained from understanding QS. Al Hujurat verse 9 is that reconciliation between two conflicting groups should be done fairly.
