Abstract

Hyperglycemic crisis is a metabolic emergency that causes morbidity or death. Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), and Hyperosmolar Hyperglycemic State (HHS), are 2 forms of hyperglycemic crisis that often occur in patients with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus. A 45-year-old female patient came to the hospital emergency department with decreased consciousness since 12 hours and shortness of breath since 2 days. The patient has a history of diabetes mellitus. On physical examination, E2V2M4 consciousness, blood pressure 140/90, oxygen saturation 40% with a reservoir bag oxygen mask 15 liters per minute, coarse rhonchi and chest retractions. From the results of investigations, there was an increase in blood glucose (523 mg/dL), a chest X-ray of pulmonary edema and bilateral bronchopneumonia. The patient was diagnosed with a hyperglycemic crisis with unstable hemodynamics. However, before being transferred to the intensive care unit, the patient was declared dead. Hyperglycemic crisis is a metabolic emergency whose management must be fast and appropriate in order to maintain hemodynamic stability and prevent death Keyword :Diabetes, Diabetic ketoacidosis, Hyperglycemic crisis, Hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state

Abstract

Background: Kyphosis is  vertebrae disorder characterized with increased of vertebrae curve in sagital line of 40o Cobb angle. Kyphosis is caused by degenerative proces,, neuromuscular disease, tumor, trauma, congenital abnormalities and unergonomic posture at the moment of carriying weights. One of kyphosis risk factor is excessive weights on the back in long duration. The complication of kyphosis such as vertebrae compression fracture could cause pain and deformities. Objective: Purpose of this research is to describe the correlation between workload level in carrier workers towards kyphosis at Tanjung Market, Jember. Methods: This research was observational analitic, cross sectional method, and total sampling. The respondents were 32 male carrier workers and 32 controls.. Data was obtained by interview and Cobb angle measurement on 1st and 12th thoracal vertebrae using inclinometer. Statistical test was done by Spearman correlation test. Results: The data analysis showed that p value for working time, work tenure, and transport weights toward kyphosis prevalence sequentially were 0,778; 0,326; and 0,739. Male carrier workers in Tanjung Traditional Market used to carry 50-100 Kg of weights once they start to transport. The working time of the carrier workers each day were seven hours and 15 years for work tenure in average. There were two carrier workers (6,2%) suffering of kyphosis (50 years old) with working time 8 hours per day, 10 years for work tenure, and 50 Kg for transport weights.. Conclusion: This research had proven that there is no any correlation between working time, work tenure, and carried load level towards kyphosis in carrier workers of Tanjung Market Jember.

Abstract

Background:   The Covid-19 pandemic increases the risk of weight gain and stress in young adults, especially female college students. Adequate exercise interventions are needed to prevent the incidence of obesity and its complications.  Objective :   To determine the effectiveness of aerobic dance exercise and walking on body mass index (BMI) and stress in overweight or obese female college students.   Methods :  This study was an experimental pre-posttest design with 28 people sample size divided into 2 groups, namely the intervention group (aerobic exercise) and the control group (walking). The treatment was given for 4 weeks with a frequency of 3 times a week. Results : The results showed a significant decrease in stress scores before and after treatment in the intervention and control groups (p 0.05). The post-test stress scores between the intervention and control groups were also significantly different, which means that aerobic exercise has a better effect on reducing stress than walking. A significant decrease in BMI also occurred before and after treatment in the intervention group from an average of 27.65 (2.39) to 27.34 (2.41), but this did not occur in the control group. Conclusion :   Aerobic exercise is proven to be effective in reducing BMI and stress in overweight or obese female students, while walking is only effective for reducing stress but cannot reduce BMI in overweight or obese female studentsKeywords : Female College Student, Body Mass Index, Stress, Aerobic Dance, Walking

Abstract

Introduction:  Stress is a body's response experienced by a person due to burdened feelings or oppressed in a particular event. Stress may interfere body's homeostasis. One of them is the spermatogenesis process. Healthy stress management is necessary, for example, by doing murottal Al-Qur'an. Reading Al-Qur'an with tartil delivers a beautiful tone and has a relaxing effect and stress release. This research aims to determine the effect of murottal Al-Qur'an on the amount of Leydig cells on male mice (Mus musculus) who are experiencing stress. The compressor used is noise from the road with an intensity of 85dB, given for 12 hours (18.00-06.00) for 21 days. The therapy used was murottal Al-Quran surah Ar-Rahman verses 1-78, which read by Shaykh Abdurrahman Sudais. In this research there were five categories, they are K+ (not given the stressor and murottal therapy), K- (given noise stressors and not given murottal therapy), P1 (given noise stressors for 12-hours and murottal therapy for 1-hour), P2 (given noise stressor for 12-hours and murottal therapy for 2-hours), P3 (given a stress stressor for 12-hours and murottal therapy for 4-hours). Moreover, observations were done on testicular histology preparations with Hematoxylin Eosin staining in olyvia (c) applications. The number of Leydig cells was examined with a 40x magnification microscope. Cell calculations are done manually with the image raster application. The results revealed that murottal Al-Quran is able to significantly affect the number of Leydig cells (p value = 0,000). Lastly, it can be concluded that there is an influence of murottal Al-Quran on the number of Leydig cells in male mice under stress. Keyword : Stress, Noice, Murottal Al-Aquran, Surah Ar-Rahman, Leydig Cell
