Abstract

The selection of appropriate learning methods, strategies, and approaches is a crucial factor in improving the quality of student learning. Mismatches in the application of these three components can result in low student engagement and suboptimal achievement of learning objectives. This article aims to analyze the selection of learning methods, strategies, and approaches in an effort to improve the quality of student learning. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review design. Data were obtained through study documentation of various relevant written sources, including books, scientific articles, and journals accessed through Google Scholar. Data analysis was conducted descriptively and qualitatively by reviewing, comparing, and synthesizing concepts, theories, and research findings related to learning methods, strategies, and approaches. The results of the study indicate that the appropriate selection of learning methods, strategies, and approaches tailored to student characteristics, learning objectives, and learning contexts can improve student engagement, understanding, and learning outcomes. Therefore, teachers need to have a comprehensive understanding in determining learning methods, strategies, and approaches to create an effective and meaningful learning process.

Abstract

The selection of extracurricular activities is an important part of the development of students' interests and talents, but the factors that influence these preferences are not fully understood, especially in the context of the tendency of the type of games that students prefer. The type of game, whether physical, strategic, creative, competitive, or collaborative, is considered to reflect the student's behavioral tendencies, learning styles, and natural interest in certain activities. This study aims to identify the relationship between the types of games that students like and the extracurricular choices they take at school. The research uses a quantitative approach with a survey design. The research sample consisted of 109 students of SMP Negeri 1 Porong who were selected through purposive sampling techniques. The instrument is in the form of a Likert scale questionnaire that measures the tendency of the type of game and the extracurricular preferences of students. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation tests, and tendency analysis to map the patterns of relationships between variables. The results of the study are known that the average value (mean) of student interest is 58.29 with a standard deviation of 7.85. A median score of 59 indicates that most students have a level of interest that is close to the group average. A minimum score of 28 and a maximum of 75 showed a fairly wide range of variation between respondents, indicating that the tendency of physical games, such as outdoor and competitive games, was strongly correlated with sports extracurricular choices. Meanwhile, students who like strategic games and logic tend to choose academic extracurriculars and science clubs. Students who have an interest in creative and collaborative play are more likely to choose arts, language, and organizational extracurriculars. These findings confirm that the type of game is a potential indicator in understanding the orientation of students' interest in extracurricular activities. In conclusion, the tendency of the type of play can be the basis for schools to design extracurricular programs that are more relevant to the characteristics of the students. This understanding can help teachers and school managers in providing more targeted guidance and creating a learning environment that is more supportive of the development of students' interests and potential. Abstract

Critical thinking skills are recognized as a core competency in the 21st century that must be fostered from elementary school, particularly through Social Studies (IPS). Social studies learning offers a contextual nature that enables students to analyze social phenomena, understand cause-and-effect relationships, and make rational decisions. However, various studies indicate that elementary school students' critical thinking competencies in social studies learning have not yet developed optimally. This study aims to examine students' critical thinking competencies in social studies learning in elementary schools by referring to previous literature. The method used was a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA protocol. Reference searches were conducted through the Google Scholar and Publish or Perish platforms with publications spanning 2020-2025. Based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, ten articles were obtained and processed through thematic analysis. The study findings revealed that elementary school students' critical thinking competencies were generally in the moderate category, with analysis, evaluation, and conclusion-drawing indicators being the weakest aspects. These competencies are influenced by several factors originating from within the students and the educational environment. Furthermore, implementing learning approaches that make students the primary actors in the learning process, such as problem-based learning and discussion, has proven effective in improving critical thinking skills in social studies. This study contributes to a comprehensive mapping of students' critical thinking skills and recommends social studies learning strategies that can be utilized by elementary school teachers.

Abstract

Pembentukan Pemerintahan Darurat Republik Indonesia (PDRI) pada 19 Desember 1948 merupakan tonggak penting dalam sejarah keteguhan Republik Indonesia mempertahankan eksistensinya di tengah agresi militer Belanda II. Salah satu wilayah yang berperan dalam jalur gerilya PDRI adalah Nagari Halaban di Kecamatan Lareh Sago Halaban, Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota, Sumatera Barat. Meskipun tidak menjadi pusat pemerintahan, Halaban menjadi lokasi penting dalam mobilitas dan perlindungan rombongan PDRI ketika berpindah dari Bukittinggi menuju pedalaman. Artikel ini mengkaji kontribusi strategis Nagari Halaban sebagai titik singgah dan dukungan logistik selama masa perjuangan PDRI, berdasarkan arsip sejarah, dokumentasi lokal, serta sumber terpercaya. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa keterlibatan masyarakat lokal dan kondisi geografis Halaban berperan penting dalam menjaga kesinambungan pemerintahan Republik. Ini menunjukkan bahwa daerah terpencil sekalipun memiliki andil besar dalam menjaga kedaulatan bangsa.

Abstract

21st-century learning emphasizes the importance of mastering higher-order thinking skills, including creativity, as a key ability to solve problems and generate new ideas. Project-Based Learning (PjBL) is regarded as an effective instructional model for fostering creativity through authentic, collaborative, and product-oriented project activities. This literature review aims to examine the relationship between students’ creativity and learning outcomes in the implementation of PjBL by reviewing quantitative studies that employ correlation analysis. The reviewed articles were sourced from national journals and proceedings published between 2021 and 2025 that include variables of creativity and learning outcomes and are relevant to PjBL. The analysis was conducted by examining the types of correlation, sample sizes, and correlation coefficient values. The findings indicate a positive and significant relationship between creativity and learning outcomes, with correlation strengths ranging from moderate to very strong. These results confirm that creativity plays an important role in the success of project-based learning and should be developed in a systematic manner.

Abstract

This research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method conducted in two cycles. The subjects of the research were 24 first-grade students of SDN 007 Long Mesangat. Data collection techniques included participatory observation, reading ability tests (oral and written), and documentation. The implementation of the action focused on using engaging stories, supported by art media such as drawing, singing, and movement games to create an active and enjoyable learning atmosphere.The results showed that the application of the storytelling method and arts successfully improved students' initial reading ability significantly. This was evidenced by the increase in the average scores of students' reading ability tests from the pre-cycle, cycle I, to cycle II. Furthermore, observations indicated an increase in students' enthusiasm, active involvement, and motivation in following the learning process. It was concluded that the integration of storytelling and arts is effective in helping first-grade students overcome initial reading difficulties.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the correlation between students’ mastery of Nahwu and Sharaf and their learning outcomes in the Al-Qur’an Hadith subject. The research employed a quantitative correlational approach and was conducted at Pondok Pesantren Manhajussalikin Rokan Hulu with students of grade XII ‘Ulya as the research subjects. The data were obtained from students’ final semester scores in Nahwu, Sharaf, and Al-Qur’an Hadith subjects and analyzed using SPSS. The results of the Pearson Product Moment correlation test indicate a strong and positive correlation between mastery of Nahwu and Al-Qur’an Hadith learning outcomes (r = 0.751, Sig. = 0.001), as well as between mastery of Sharaf and Al-Qur’an Hadith learning outcomes (r = 0.690, Sig. = 0.003). These findings show that the better the students’ mastery of Nahwu and Sharaf, the higher their learning outcomes in Al-Qur’an Hadith. Therefore, mastery of Nahwu and Sharaf plays an important role in improving students’ understanding of Al-Qur’an and Hadith texts.

Abstract

The weak learning process, students are not actively involved, many students are often sleepy during learning. There are several factors that cause a student's low level thinking ability. Because the learning process in the class is directed to the child's ability to memorize and store up information without being required to understand information and relate it to everyday life. The study was intended to enhance the ipas of class vi primary school (SDN) 033 petapahan, using a creative problem solution (CPS). This type of research is a collaborative class action study. Research design using the models of kemmis and robin McTaggart that include: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The study is carried out in two cycles. The subject of this study is the fourth grade student of 033 land advance board of 24 students. The instrument is a test of high-level thinking ability. The technical data analysis is the quantitative descriptive analysis technique. The results of the study on improving high-order thinking skills (HOTS) using the CPS approach in grade VI students of SD Negeri 033 Petapahan in the 2025/2026 academic year in cycle I, Meeting I, 11 students or 45.83% completed the Very Poor category. In Cycle I, Meeting II, the number of students completing increased to 15 students (62.50%) with the Poor category. Furthermore, in Cycle II, Meeting I, 18 students or 75% achieved completion with the Sufficient category, and in Cycle II, Meeting II, the number of students completing increased to 21 students (87.50%) with the Good category. By implementing the learning stages with the CPS learning model, the application of the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) learning model can improve higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) in elementary school students.

Abstract

Rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis dan hasil belajar kognitif peserta didik pada mata pelajaran IPAS menuntut penerapan model pembelajaran yang inovatif dan berpusat pada peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas model Project Based Learning (PjBL) terintegrasi pendekatan Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan hasil belajar kognitif peserta didik kelas IV Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain kuasi eksperimen nonequivalent control group design. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes kemampuan berpikir kritis dan tes hasil belajar kognitif yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji normalitas, perhitungan N-Gain, uji Wilcoxon Signed Rank, dan uji Mann–Whitney U. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan pada kemampuan berpikir kritis dan hasil belajar kognitif peserta didik pada kelas eksperimen dibandingkan kelas kontrol. Nilai N-Gain kelas eksperimen berada pada kategori tinggi dan secara signifikan lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol. Dengan demikian, model pembelajaran PjBL terintegrasi STEAM efektif diterapkan dalam pembelajaran IPAS dan dapat dijadikan sebagai alternatif pembelajaran yang relevan dengan implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka di jenjang SD/MI.

Abstract

Data presentation is a crucial part of scientific writing because it plays a role in conveying information clearly, systematically, and easily understood. Diagrams, tables, and graphs are the most commonly used forms of data presentation, yet inaccuracies in their selection are still common. This article aims to examine the concepts, functions, and advantages and limitations of using diagrams, tables, and graphs in data presentation. The method used is a literature study with a descriptive qualitative approach through a review of national and international scientific journals, research methodology books, and other relevant scientific sources. The results of the study indicate that tables are more effective for presenting data in a detailed and structured manner, while diagrams and graphs emphasize visual aspects, making it easier for readers to quickly understand patterns, comparisons, and trends in the data. The selection of the appropriate form of data presentation must be tailored to the type of data, the purpose of the presentation, and the characteristics of the reader to avoid misinterpretation of the information. Therefore, a good understanding of the use of diagrams, tables, and graphs is crucial for improving the quality of data presentation in research and scientific papers, particularly in the field of education.
