Abstract

The film Vina Sebelum 7 Hari is based on a true story that portrays violence againts women, bullying, and legal injustice that still occur in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the moral messages in the film using Roland Barthes’ semiotic approach, which divides meaning into three levels:denotation, connotation, and myth. This approach is applied to reveal how visual and verbal signs construct public understanding of social reality. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a content analysis technique. Data were collected through direct observation of the film, recording significant scenes, and classifying meanings based on the categories of denotation, connotation, and myth. The analysis identified 13 data findings representing these three levels of meaning. The study reveals that Vina Sebelum 7 Hari is rich in symbolism reflecting social trauma, gender inequality, and societal belief in mystical elements. Symbolis such as hair, letters, spiritual dialogues, and wandering spirits convey complex meanings related to women’s resistance against injustice and an uneual social system. Moreover, several moral messages are identified, including friendship, self esteem, wisdom, and emphaty. These values offer social reality and humanity. Therefore, in the film functions not only as entertainment but also as a reflective and educational medium for society.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the validity of the interactive multimedia “Ayo Lestarikan Lingkungan” as a learning medium for the Science and Social Studies (IPAS) subject among upper-grade students at SDN 41 Malewang, Takalar Regency. The media was developed to address the need to improve IPAS learning, which remains dominated by conventional methods, leading to low student engagement and suboptimal comprehension of environmental conservation concepts. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach focusing on the expert validation stage. Instruments consisted of validation sheets from material experts and media experts, assessing content accuracy and visual design quality. Data were analyzed by calculating the average validation scores and categorizing them according to established media feasibility criteria. The results show that the interactive multimedia achieved a valid rating across all evaluation aspects. Media experts reported an overall validity of 91.40%, with several aspects—layout, animation, typography, audio, video, interface, program, and navigation—rated highly valid. Material experts rated the learning aspects, content, and language at 79.63%, categorized as valid. Based on these findings, the developed multimedia is feasible for use as a learning medium to enhance students’ understanding and awareness of environmental conservation. The study implies that integrating interactive multimedia can be an effective alternative for improving the quality of IPAS instruction in elementary schools

Abstract

This study aims to develop a mathematics learning module for addition and subtraction up to 20 based on concrete objects and to determine its feasibility and effectiveness for first grade students. The Research and Development (R&D) method used follows the Borg and Gall model which is simplified into six stages: needs analysis, design, development, validation, revision, and limited trials. The research subjects involved 25 first grade students and teachers at SDN 105378 SEMENTARA. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and tests. The results showed that the developed module was very feasible and effective to use. The classical completion rate reached 84%, where 21 students obtained a score of ≥ 76 which exceeded the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) of 75. In addition, as many as 88% of students showed an attitude of cooperation and confidence during learning activities using concrete objects. It can be concluded that this concrete object-based module successfully improved students' conceptual understanding and learning outcomes by bridging abstract mathematical operations through real experiences.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Powtoon media in elementary school mathematics learning and to explore students' experiences when using the media. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through interviews and observations. The findings reveal that the use of Powtoon in mathematics lessons positively influences students' learning interest and comprehension.The engaging visualizations and animations presented through Powtoon successfully capture students’ attention, create a more enjoyable learning atmosphere, and help them grasp mathematical concepts more concretely. Furthermore, Powtoon encourages active student participation during the learning process. This media has proven to be a creative alternative that enhances the effectiveness of mathematics instruction, particularly in teaching arithmetic at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study examines the role of character education in shaping positive values, attitudes, and behaviors among youth and its contribution to forming responsible citizens. The study focuses on challenges faced by the younger generation, such as the negative influence of uncontrolled social media, individualism, bullying, and free social interactions, which affect moral development. Using a qualitative approach with library research, the study analyzes relevant literature, including books, journals, and policy documents related to character education and citizenship education. The results show that character education is a strategic effort to instill moral values, ethics, and responsible behavior through integrated learning, habituation, and role modeling. Collaboration among schools, families, and society, as well as the use of digital media, strengthens the internalization of positive values. Effective character education contributes to the development of ethical, disciplined, and socially responsible individuals who understand their rights and obligations as citizens. This study provides both theoretical insights for the development of civic education and practical guidance for strengthening character education in educational and social contexts.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas model Discovery Learning dengan pendekatan kontekstual terhadap kemandirian belajar dan pemahaman konsep matematika materi bangun ruang sisi datar pada siswa kelas V sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi-experimental design dengan desain non-equivalent control group design. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 40 siswa yang terbagi menjadi kelompok eksperimen (20 siswa) yang menerapkan model Discovery Learning dengan pendekatan kontekstual dan kelompok kontrol (20 siswa) yang menerapkan pembelajaran konvensional. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes pemahaman konsep dan angket kemandirian belajar. Analisis data menggunakan uji N-gain, uji normalitas Shapiro-Wilk, uji homogenitas Levene, dan uji-t independen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) model Discovery Learning dengan pendekatan kontekstual efektif dalam meningkatkan kemandirian belajar siswa dengan nilai N-gain kelompok eksperimen (0,6185) lebih tinggi dari kelompok kontrol (0,5155) dengan perbedaan yang signifikan (t = 3,747; p = 0,001); (2) tidak terdapat perbedaan signifikan pada pemahaman konsep matematika antara kelompok eksperimen (N-gain = 0,5854) dan kelompok kontrol (N-gain = 0,5976) dengan nilai t = -0,590 dan p = 0,559. Disimpulkan bahwa model Discovery Learning dengan pendekatan kontekstual efektif meningkatkan kemandirian belajar namun belum optimal dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika materi bangun ruang sisi datar.

Abstract

The Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum plays a strategic role in shaping students’ faith, morality, and character. To achieve these objectives optimally, the PAI curriculum must be aligned with students’ developmental stages and effectively implemented in educational practice. This article aims to examine the alignment of the PAI curriculum with students’ cognitive, affective, social, and moral-spiritual development, as well as to analyze its implementation in educational settings and the integration of character values. This study employs a library research method by reviewing various sources, including textbooks, scholarly journals, and educational policy documents. The findings indicate that the PAI curriculum has generally been designed in accordance with students’ developmental stages and emphasizes character formation. However, its implementation in practice still faces several challenges, such as gaps in teachers’ competencies, limited facilities, differences in socio-cultural backgrounds, and disparities in digital literacy. Therefore, strengthening teachers’ competencies, promoting instructional innovation, and enhancing collaboration among schools, families, and communities are necessary to ensure that the PAI curriculum functions optimally in shaping a generation that is faithful, morally upright, and socially responsible.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis: (1) pengaruh metode kerja kelompok terhadap keaktifan peserta didik, (2) pengaruh metode kerja kelompok terhadap hasil belajar kognitif peserta didik, dan (3) hubungan antara keaktifan dan hasil belajar kognitif peserta didik pada materi tumbuhan kelas V SD Negeri Gunungjaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain quasi experimental tipe pretest-posttest with control group design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh peserta didik kelas V SD Negeri Gunungjaya sebagai kelompok eksperimen (14 siswa) dan SD Negeri Indrajaya 01 sebagai kelompok kontrol (15 siswa). Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan lembar observasi keaktifan dan tes kognitif (pretest-posttest). Analisis data menggunakan uji normalitas Shapiro-Wilk, uji homogenitas Levene, dan uji-t independen dengan bantuan SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) metode kerja kelompok berpengaruh positif terhadap keaktifan peserta didik dengan 85,7% siswa kelompok eksperimen mencapai kategori baik dan sangat baik; (2) metode kerja kelompok berpengaruh signifikan terhadap hasil belajar kognitif dengan peningkatan nilai rata-rata dari 71,42 menjadi 82,26 dan N-gain 0,50 (kategori sedang); (3) terdapat hubungan positif antara keaktifan dan hasil belajar kognitif peserta didik.

Abstract

This research aims to determine: (1) the implementation of learning using the Brainstorming method assisted by Pop Up learning media, (2) students' creative thinking abilities before and after the treatment in the experimental class, and (3) the effect of using the Brainstorming method assisted by Pop Up learning media on students' creative thinking abilities in the IPAS subject for grade V at UPT SPF SD Negeri Kompleks IKIP 1. The research problem is based on the low creative thinking abilities of students in IPAS learning, which have not been fully facilitated through learning methods and media that encourage student activity and idea development. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research population consists of all grade V students at UPT SPF SD Negeri Kompleks IKIP 1, totaling 62 students. The research sample was determined using Purposive Sampling technique, with class VB (31 students) as the experimental group and class VA (31 students) as the control group. Research data were collected through observation of learning implementation and creative thinking ability tests in the form of pretest and posttest. Data analysis used descriptive statistics and inferential statistics with the Independent Sample T-Test. The research results show that: (1) the implementation of learning using the Brainstorming method assisted by Pop Up learning media is in the very good category, (2) students' creative thinking abilities in the experimental class improved from the sufficient category on the pretest to the high category on the posttest, and (3) the Independent Sample T-Test results indicate that the calculated t-value is greater than the t-table value at a 5% significance level. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the use of the Brainstorming method assisted by Pop Up learning media affects students' creative thinking abilities in the IPAS subject for grade V at UPT SPF SD Negeri Kompleks IKIP 1.

Abstract

The low level of students’ participation and appreciation of art at the elementary school level remains a challenge in arts education, particularly in traditional music learning. Arts instruction that is limited to intramural activities often fails to provide meaningful and sustainable learning experiences for students. One effort to address this issue is through culture-based extracurricular activities, such as angklung. This study aims to describe the implementation of best practices in angklung extracurricular activities to enhance students’ participation and art appreciation at SD Muhammadiyah Kronggahan. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving extracurricular instructors, students, school administrators, and related stakeholders. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the implementation of best practices in angklung extracurricular activities supported by mandatory participation policies, regular practice schedules, certified instructors, adequate facilities, and strong support from parents and the community successfully increased students’ active participation and fostered their appreciation of art and local culture. These outcomes were also reflected in students’ consistent achievements in various regional competitions. Therefore, well-managed and professionally implemented angklung extracurricular activities can serve as a model of best practice for strengthening arts education in elementary schools.
