Abstract

Social Studies (IPS) learning in elementary schools plays a strategic role in strengthening character education, particularly through the topic of cultural diversity. However, various studies indicate that the implementation of IPS learning still tends to focus on cognitive aspects and is not optimal in internalizing students' character values. This study aims to analyze the instillation of character values, identify developing values, and examine the role of teachers in IPS learning on cultural diversity in fourth-grade elementary schools. The study used a literature review method with a descriptive qualitative approach to 30 relevant scientific sources obtained through Google Scholar and Publish or Perish, using specific selection criteria. Data analysis was conducted thematically through a process of reduction, categorization, and drawing conclusions. The results indicate that the instillation of character values ​​is carried out in an integrated manner through learning activities such as discussions, group work, and an experience-based approach. The dominant character values ​​include tolerance, social care, mutual cooperation, nationalism, discipline, and responsibility. Teachers act as facilitators, motivators, and role models in shaping students' character. However, the effectiveness of character value instillation is still influenced by limitations in learning methods and media. Therefore, learning innovations are needed that are more contextual and oriented towards students' real-life experiences.

Abstract

The problem in this study was the low learning motivation of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 6 Metro Timur. This study aimed to determine the effect of the contextual teaching and learning model and problem-based learning on student learning motivation in Pancasila Education. The method used was quantitative with a quasi-experimental design. The population included all fourth-grade students in classes A and B, and the sample was determined using purposive sampling. Data collection techniques were conducted through tests and non-tests. The data were analysed using simple linear regression and the Independent Sample T-test. The results showed that the contextual teaching and learning model had an effect on student motivation to learn with a significance value of 0.018 < 0.05. there was an effect of the problem-based learning model with a significance value of 0.016 < 0.05, and there was a difference in the effect between the application of the contextual teaching and learning model and the problem-based learning model on student learning motivation with a significance value of 0.002 < 0.05.

Abstract

Ecosystem learning in biology is often considered complex due to the interaction of various biotic and abiotic components, which can cause students to experience difficulties in understanding concepts when learning remains theoretical. In addition, 21st century learning demands require students to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills. Therefore, appropriate learning models and media are needed. This study aims to analyze the use of terrarium media based on Problem Based Learning (PBL) in teaching ecosystem material at SMAS Nur Azizi Tanjung Morawa. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving one biology teacher and 30 tenth grade students. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the implementation of PBL supported by terrarium media was effective. Students were actively involved and showed positive responses. The terrarium media helped students understand ecosystem concepts more concretely and increased motivation. However, limitations in media availability and time allocation were still found. Overall, the use of terrarium media based on PBL has a positive impact on students’ learning activities and conceptual understanding.

Abstract

Social Studies (IPS) learning at the elementary school level has a crucial role in instilling character and developing students’ critical thinking skills, in line with the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, low learning outcomes are often caused by teaching approaches that lack innovation and are not relevant to real-life contexts. This study examines the implementation of the discovery learning model to improve Social Studies learning outcomes, particularly on the topic of landform classification and its relation to professions in fourth-grade elementary school students. The method used is a literature review of relevant scientific articles published between 2022 and 2025. The results show that the implementation of the discovery learning model, supported by interactive multimedia, illustrated student worksheets (LKPD), and e-modules, significantly improves students’ conceptual understanding and learning outcomes. Through independent exploration, students are able to identify the relationship between geographical conditions and community economic activities in a meaningful way. Therefore, the discovery learning model is an effective strategy to support high-quality Social Studies learning that is relevant to the demands of 21st-century education.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low multiplication skills of third-grade elementary school students, in which 73% of students did not achieve the Minimum Mastery Criteria (MMC). The problem was caused by teacher-centered learning and the limited use of game-based learning media. This study aimed to develop a multiplication card learning media based on the Monopoly game and to determine its validity, practicality, and effectiveness. This research employed the ADDIE development model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Data were collected through expert validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. The results showed that the developed media was categorized as highly valid and highly practical, and it was effective in improving students’ multiplication skills. Therefore, the Monopoly-based multiplication card media is feasible to be used as an innovative alternative in third-grade mathematics learning.

Abstract

This study focuses on the analysis of literature trends related to the use of digital learning media based on local wisdom in the context of social studies learning in elementary schools in the period 2021–2025. Through the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, as many as 30 relevant articles from the Google Scholar database have been identified and analyzed according to the inclusion criteria. The findings of the study show a significant escalation in the number of publications, with the highest intensity reached in 2024. Video-based media and digital animation are the most widely used types of media (30% and 20%) due to their effectiveness in presenting abstract concepts visually. The integration of local wisdom is mostly realized through the cultural values of the community and regional folklore. The implementation of digital media has a positive impact, especially in increasing students' learning motivation (40%) and understanding of social concepts. This study concludes that digital media based on local wisdom is a potential innovation to create contextual and meaningful social studies learning in elementary schools. Abstract

This study aims to determine the response of students to discovery learning model through concrete representational abstract (CRA) approach in science learning at junior high school. This study use a quasi experimental method with a Likert scale for each statement involving 28 students in class VIII C of MTsN 2 Sidoarjo. The result of study were obtained from questionnaire sheet of student responses in learning consisting of 14 statement and analyzed using descriptive statistic. The results showed that the discovery learning model with the CRA approach received positive responses from students, with an average score of 77%, which was categorised as ‘Good’ for the learning process using the discovery learning model with the CRA approach. This indicates that the learning process was well received and that students found it easier to understand the material and maximise the learning objectives.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan penerapan metode bercerita serta mengidentifikasi faktor pendukung dan penghambat dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia siswa kelas IV SDN 25 Radda Kabupaten Luwu. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis deskriptif. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 33 siswa dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode storytelling diterapkan melalui tahap pembukan, bercerita, dan evaluasi. Penerapan metode ini mampu meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa siswa, khususnya keterampilan berbicara, penguasaan kosakata, dan keaktifan dalam pembelajaran. Faktor pendukungnya meliputi kerjasama antar pendidik, penggunaan media buku cerita bergambar, serta lingkungan belajar yang kondusif. Sementara itu, faktor penghambatnya meliputi kurangnya fokus siswa, perbedaan kemampuan, serta keterbatasan waktu belajar. Dengan demikian, metode storytelling efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa siswa dengan dukungan strategi dan pengelolaan kelas yang optimal.

Abstract

Social changes in urban communities influenced by globalization and the development of digital technology have caused a shift in the application of Pancasila values, particularly in social interactions, which tend to be increasingly individualistic. This phenomenon creates a gap between the normative values of Pancasila and social practices in everyday life. This study aims to analyze the fading of Pancasila values, understand how society interprets these values, identify the factors influencing them, and examine their reception in the context of modern life. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study conducted in Kesawan Village, West Medan District. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. The results show that Pancasila values have not disappeared but have undergone a transformation into a more flexible and contextual form. This shift is evident in social practices such as mutual cooperation (gotong royong), which have begun to shift to digital forms. The interpretation of values is influenced by technological developments, modernization, and society's increasingly critical mindset. Furthermore, public reception of Pancasila values is dominated by a negotiated position, accepting the values but adapting them to the demands of modern life. Therefore, strengthening efforts are needed to ensure that Pancasila values remain relevant and can be effectively implemented in urban communities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Pancasila-based character education in shaping the character of students at both the junior high school and university levels. The moral degradation among the younger generation, influenced by globalization and technological advancement, serves as the background for the importance of this study. A qualitative method was employed, with data collection techniques including direct observation, interviews with junior high school students and students of Universitas Negeri Medan, as well as documentation studies from various reputable journals and references. The results indicate that Pancasila-based character education is considerably effective in enhancing students' understanding and application of Pancasila values in academic life, including honesty, discipline, responsibility, cooperation, and mutual respect. However, several obstacles affect the effectiveness of its implementation, including less contextual teaching methods, insufficient supervision from teachers and parents, students' excessive focus on academic grades rather than value application, and low self-awareness in practicing Pancasila values. This study concludes that the success of Pancasila-based character education requires strong synergy between schools, families, and communities, accompanied by innovation in more contextual and student-centered learning strategies.
