Abstract

Tapah Melenggang is a cultural icon of Batang Hari Regency that represents the historical and ecological relationship between the community and the Batanghari River. This symbol not only depicts the tapah fish (Wallago leeri) as a local natural resource but also embodies cultural values shaped through the collective experiences of the Malay community. This study aims to analyze the historical aspects, symbolic meanings, social functions, and educational values of Tapah Melenggang as a form of local cultural identity. This research employs a qualitative approach using a library research method. Data were collected from scholarly journals, academic books, and official documents, and analyzed through descriptive-interpretative techniques based on cultural symbolism theory and local wisdom-based education. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation. The findings indicate that Tapah Melenggang encompasses interconnected historical, symbolic, social, and educational dimensions. The symbol reflects values of strength, resilience, and balance, while also functioning as a collective identity and a contextual learning resource. Its integration into local wisdom-based education contributes to strengthening character development, cultural awareness, and the preservation of local identity in the era of globalization

Abstract

This study examines language errors in non-scientific written works in the form of short stories written by Phase F students at SMA Negeri 9 Kota Jambi. The problem underlying this research is the presence of language errors that affect the clarity, accuracy, and effectiveness of students’ writing. This study aims to identify and describe the types of language errors, including aspects of phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and spelling. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method. The data consist of 31 short story texts written by students. Data collection techniques include documentation and note-taking. The results show that language errors are still frequently found in students’ writing. Based on the analysis, there are 100 errors in the phonological aspect, 108 errors in the morphological aspect, 101 errors in the syntactic aspect, 37 errors in the semantic aspect, and the highest number of errors occurs in the spelling aspect, with a total of 1,147 errors. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that students’ mastery of linguistic rules still needs improvement. Therefore, efforts are needed to enhance the quality of Indonesian language instruction, provide intensive writing practice, and emphasize the use of proper and correct language rules in order to optimally improve students’ language skills.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of a guided inquiry strategy based on socioscientific issues on students’ chemical literacy in chemical bonding. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a non-equivalent control group design. The participants consisted of 52 eleventh-grade students divided into an experimental class and a control class, with 26 students in each group. The research instrument was a chemical literacy test consisting of 15 essay items, validated by one Chemistry Education lecturer and one senior high school chemistry teacher. The results of Aiken’s V analysis showed a range of 0.93–1.00 with an average of 0.96 (very valid category), and a reliability coefficient of 0.722 with a significance value of 0.011 (p < 0.05), indicating high reliability. The data were analyzed using paired sample t-tests and an independent sample t-test at a significance level of 0.05. The paired sample t-test results indicated a significant improvement in the experimental class (t(25) = −13.623; p < 0.001) and the control class (t(25) = −8.362; p < 0.001). The independent sample t-test showed a significant difference between the two classes (t(50) = 7.351; p < 0.001) with a mean difference of 8.077. Thus, the guided inquiry strategy based on socioscientific issues significantly affects students’ chemical literacy.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the urgency of strengthening religious moderation amidst increasing cases of intolerance and exposure to radical ideologies in educational institutions. The focus of this study is to identify and analyze the roles and strategies of educators at SMPIT Salman Alfarisi Yogyakarta in instilling religious moderate characters in students. The method used is qualitative field research through in-depth interviews with the principal, vice-principals, and Islamic Religious Education teachers. The results indicate that the implementation of religious moderation is at an early stage of value internalization, focusing on social tolerance and respect for differences. Educators perform educational, habituation, role-modeling, and persuasive value reinforcement roles. Strategies applied include integration in the formal curriculum, experiential learning, and indirect strategies through school culture. The main challenges lie in the homogeneous school environment and the absence of a systematically structured special program

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the representation of meaning and messages in the lyrics of the song “Cahaya” by Feby Putri through Ferdinand de Saussure’s semiotic approach. The background of this research is based on the assumption that song lyrics function not only as musical elements but also as a system of signs that contain implicit meanings requiring in-depth interpretation.This research employs a descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected through documentation and literature study. The primary data consist of the lyrics of the song “Cahaya,” which are analyzed using Saussure’s semiotic theory, focusing on the relationship between the signifier and the signified. The analysis is conducted by identifying signs within the lyrics and interpreting their meanings based on differential relations within the sign system.The findings show that the lyrics of “Cahaya” represent meaning and messages through a binary opposition between “light” and “dark,” symbolizing the dynamics between hope and despair. In addition, the lyrics also depict an individual emotional journey from psychological pressure toward self-awareness and acceptance of reality. Thus, the song lyrics function not only as an aesthetic work but also as a medium representing human psychological experiences.

Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) the impact of the learning environment on student learning achievement, and (2) the impact of learning motivation on the learning achievement of students in class VA and VB of SD Negeri Pannara. This study used a quantitative approach with a pretest-posttest design. The study subjects were 58 students, consisting of 28 students in class VA and 30 students in class VB. The research instruments included a learning environment questionnaire, a learning motivation questionnaire, and documentation of learning achievement scores. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and a paired-sample t-test. The results of the study showed that: (1) there was a significant impact between the learning environment and student achievement, as indicated by an increase in the average achievement score after treatment in class VA (Sig. 0.000 0.05); and (2) there was a significant influence between learning motivation and student achievement, as indicated by an increase in the average achievement score in class VB (Sig. 0.000 Thus, it can be concluded that both the learning environment and motivation are good. 0.05).

Abstract

The rapid development of technology demands the world of education to continue to innovate to create engaging learning that meets the demands of the 21st century. However, preliminary studies in several elementary schools indicate that science learning still uses conventional student worksheets (LKPD) that are not yet able to encourage student activity, and the use of technology is still limited. This study aims to develop a STEAM-based E-LKPD using the Wizer.me platform to increase student activity and understanding. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model which includes the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data were collected to measure the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the developed product. The results of the validity test obtained a percentage of 97.5% for material experts, 95% for language experts, and 92.5% for media experts, the overall average value of validation obtained a percentage of 95% with the category "very valid". The results of the practicality test in three schools showed that teachers gave assessments between 95.8% and 100%, and students 94% to 95.1%, all in the "very practical" category. The effectiveness test showed an N-gain value of 0.69 (effective) at SDN 11 Pauh, 0.74 (very effective) at SDN 21 Bandar Buat, and 0.74 (very effective) at SDN 12 Padang Besi. Thus, the STEAM-based E-LKPD using the Wizer.me website was declared valid, practical, and effective to support science learning in grade V of elementary school.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-control and emotion regulation among Generation Z users of the online game Roblox. The background of this study is based on the high intensity of online gaming among Generation Z, which may influence individuals’ ability to manage their emotions. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The participants consisted of 229 Roblox users selected using a non-probability sampling technique with an accidental sampling method. Data were collected through an online questionnaire using self-control and emotion regulation scales based on a Likert scale. The data were analyzed using Spearman’s rho correlation test due to non-normal data distribution. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between self-control and emotion regulation, with a correlation coefficient of 0.227 and a significance value of < 0.001. This finding indicates that higher levels of self-control are associated with better emotion regulation abilities. However, the strength of the relationship was categorized as weak, suggesting that other factors also influence emotion regulation. In conclusion, self-control plays a role in supporting emotion regulation among Generation Z and provides important implications for developing interventions to promote more adaptive use of digital technology.

Abstract

Reading comprehension is a fundamental literacy skill that elementary school students, especially upper grade students, must master. However, Indonesian elementary school students reading comprehension skills are still relatively low, as reflected in the results of the 2021 PIRLS international assessment. The Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model is a skills through integrated group activities. This study aims to systematically analyzer the effect of the CIRC model on elementary school students reading comprehension skills through the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with the PRISMA 2020 protocol. A Literature search was conducted on Google scholar, ERIC, and Sinta database, selecting 13 articles that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of this study consistently show that the CIRC learning model has a positive and significant effect on students reading comprehension. The CIRC model facilitates collaborative reading activities, structured peer discussions, and meaningful writing assigments that collectively stimulate deeper text comprehension. The average effect size of 1.8 (high category) Confirma that the CIRC's influence is statistically significant and practical. This study recommends that elementary school teachers implements CIRC as an effective and contextual alternative for Indonesian language learning

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh tantangan pendidikan abad ke-21 yang menuntut inovasi dalam sistem pembelajaran untuk menghasilkan sumber daya manusia yang adaptif. Pendekatan konvensional yang didominasi oleh metode perkuliahan satu arah dinilai kurang efektif dalam mendorong pengembangan kemampuan berpikir dan kreativitas mahasiswa, terutama pada mata pelajaran fisika abstrak. Model pembelajaran RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create) dipilih sebagai solusi karena sintaksnya yang sistematis dirancang untuk membangun pembelajaran mandiri dan keterlibatan siswa yang aktif. Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat pencapaian hasil belajar kognitif siswa setelah penerapan model pembelajaran RADEC pada bahan fluida statis dan untuk menguji perbedaan yang signifikan dibandingkan dengan metode konvensional. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kuasi-eksperimental di MA Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru. Hasil analisis data deskriptif menunjukkan bahwa kelas eksperimen mencapai skor rata-rata 70,97 (Kategori Baik), mengungguli kelas kontrol yang memperoleh 63,97 (Kategori Wajar). Perbaikan yang signifikan terlihat di semua tingkatan Taksonomi Bloom, terutama pada aspek Evaluating (C5) dengan skor 73,07 dan Creating (C6) dengan skor 88,46. Secara inferensial, hasil Uji T Sampel Independen menghasilkan nilai Sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0,021 (<0,05), yang menunjukkan perbedaan hasil belajar yang signifikan antara kedua kelas. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa model RADEC efektif dalam meningkatkan prestasi kognitif siswa pada materi fisika yang kompleks.
