Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in improving elementary school students' learning outcomes through a literature review approach. The persistently low learning outcomes reported in many regions have highlighted the need for a systematic review of innovative learning models, one of which is PBL. The method used is a literature study, analyzing relevant scientific articles published between 2021 and 2024, sourced from Google Scholar, SINTA, and indexed national journals. The findings indicate that the PBL model consistently and significantly improves elementary school students' learning outcomes across various subjects, including Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Indonesian Language. These improvements encompass three domains of learning outcomes: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. Furthermore, PBL has also been shown to foster critical thinking skills, learning motivation, and student independence. However, the effectiveness of PBL is highly dependent on teachers' readiness to design authentic and contextual problem scenarios, as well as adequate learning facilities. This review is expected to serve as a reference for teachers and researchers in implementing and developing the PBL model at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Multiplication fluency among upper-grade elementary school students remains a problem in mathematics learning. Students who are not fluent in multiplication often face difficulties in solving long multiplication, division, fractions, area problems, and word problems. This article aims to examine the root causes of multiplication disfluency among upper-grade elementary school students through a literature review. The method used is a qualitative approach with library research, which involves reviewing journal articles, books, and educational documents related to elementary mathematics learning, multiplication operations, learning difficulties, instructional media, and students’ psychological factors. The findings show that multiplication disfluency is not only caused by weak memorization of multiplication tables, but is also related to weak conceptual understanding, limited mastery of basic multiplication facts, procedural errors, low accuracy, irregular practice, limited variation in instructional media, and mathematics anxiety. Effective multiplication learning needs to combine conceptual strengthening, the use of concrete and visual media, gradual practice, educational games, counting strategies, and a classroom atmosphere that supports students’ courage to try. This review indicates that multiplication fluency should be developed through a balanced process involving understanding, practice, strategy, and support from the learning environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the realization of textual function in English listening materials using the Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) framework proposed by Halliday. The focus of this study is on the analysis of Theme types, namely Topical, Interpersonal, and Textual Themes, found in clauses 1–85 in Table 4.1. The data were taken from listening texts in an English textbook for Grade XII students. This study employed a qualitative research design using document analysis as the research method. The data were analyzed using the interactive model proposed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Each clause was identified and classified based on its Theme type to examine how textual meaning is organized within the text. Based on the findings, three types of Theme are identified in the data, namely Topical, Interpersonal, and Textual Themes. The results show that Topical Theme is the most dominant type, accounting for (80%) of the total clauses, followed by Interpersonal Theme (10.6%) and Textual Theme (9.4%). Textual Themes are realized through conjunctions, adjuncts, and other linking elements such as if, maybe, and every month, which function to organize and connect ideas within the text. this study demonstrates that textual function plays a significant role in organizing meaning and maintaining coherence in listening texts, particularly through the use of Theme as the point of departure of the message

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using Wordwall media based on Problem Based Learning (PBL) with a collaborative cooperative approach on mathematics learning outcomes in the material of Greatest Common Factor (GCF) and Least Common Multiple (LCM) of fourth-grade students of UPTD SDI Ngapaboa. This study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method which is implemented in three cycles consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 27 fourth-grade students. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, documentation, and learning outcome tests at the end of each cycle. The results showed an increase in student learning outcomes in each cycle. In cycle I, student learning completeness reached 60% because students still had difficulty understanding the concepts of GCF and LCM and were not yet accustomed to using Wordwall media. In cycle II, learning completeness increased to 75% along with increased student participation in group discussions and more optimal use of learning media. In cycle III, learning completeness reached 86% with increased student activity, cooperation, and problem-solving abilities. Thus, the use of PBL-based wordwall media with a collaborative cooperative approach has proven effective in improving elementary school students' mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

Emotional regulation is an essential ability in early childhood that influences children’s social and psychological development. However, this ability is still developing and is highly dependent on parental support. One factor that may affect children’s emotional regulation is parental burnout, a condition of emotional exhaustion caused by prolonged parenting demands. This study aims to examine the effect of maternal parental burnout on the emotional regulation of children aged 4–6 years. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The research was conducted in Gresik, with 400 mothers of children aged 4–6 years as participants. Data were collected using questionnaires, including a parental burnout scale (23 items, score range 0–6) and an emotional regulation scale (15 items, score range 1–4). The instruments were developed based on relevant theoretical dimensions. Data analysis was performed using simple linear regression. The results showed that maternal parental burnout has a negative and significant effect on children’s emotional regulation (R = 0.675; R² = 0.456; p < 0.05). This indicates that higher levels of parental burnout are associated with lower emotional regulation in children. Parental burnout contributed 45.6% to the variance in emotional regulation, while 54.4% was influenced by other factors. In conclusion, maternal psychological well-being plays an important role in the development of children’s emotional regulation. It is recommended that parents receive adequate social and psychological support to reduce burnout and optimize children’s emotional development.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of School-Based Management (SBM) in early childhood education (PAUD) to improve the quality of learning services. The study employed a qualitative approach using a literature review method, conducted through the collection of secondary data from various sources, such as scientific books, national and international journals, and related documents. Data collection was conducted systematically through a search of relevant and up-to-date literature, then analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis techniques with a content analysis approach. The results indicate that the implementation of SBM has made a positive contribution to improving the quality of learning services in PAUD. SBM enables educational institutions to manage resources independently, flexibly, and in accordance with the needs of students. Furthermore, SBM also encourages the active participation of various parties, such as teachers, principals, parents, and the community. However, its implementation still faces several obstacles, such as limited human resources, a lack of managerial competence, and limited facilities and infrastructure. Therefore, policy support, improved teacher competency, and ongoing evaluation are needed to ensure optimal implementation of SBM. Thus, SBM is an effective strategy for sustainably improving the quality of PAUD learning services.

Abstract

This study aims to identify patterns of syntactic function acquisition in three-year-old native Indonesian speakers. The method applied is a longitudinal mixed-methods design for 31 days through natural observation with the technique of listening to talk. Data were validated qualitatively via triangulation with linguistic experts, then analyzed quantitatively (pattern frequency and Mean Length of Utterance) and qualitatively using Halliday's Functional Grammar framework and usage-based theory. The results show the dominance of S+P structures (31.9%) and S+P+O (28.1%) with an MLU value of 3.41 morphemes. Micro-genetic analysis reveals three transition phases: consolidation, expansion, and integration, which proves that syntactic development is dynamic, non-linear, and responsive to pragmatic contexts. The conclusion confirms that syntactic acquisition is an active construction that organically integrates semantic content, socio-pragmatic particles, and cognitive capacity. Implications of the findings include the development of contextual language development assessment instruments, evidence-based early intervention strategies, and the optimization of interactional scaffolding in early childhood education (PAUD) pedagogy. This study fills the empirical gap in Indonesian language syntax acquisition and strengthens the functional paradigm in developmental psycholinguistics.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of study hours at school and academic workload on students’ burnoutacademic at SMK Swasta Teladan Pematangsiantar in the 2025/2026 academic year. This research employed a quantitative approach with an associative research design. The population consisted of 412 students, with a sample of 203 students selected using proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires using a Likert scale. The data analysis techniques included multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination (R²). The results of the study indicate that: (1) study hours at school have a positive and significant effect on students’ burnout academic, with a t-value of 7.725 and a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05; (2) academic workload has a positive and significant effect on students’ burnout academic, with a t-value of 9.997 and a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05; (3) study hours at school and academic workload simultaneously have a significant effect on students’ burnout academic, with an F-value of 74.304 and a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05. The coefficient of determination (R²) is 0.765, indicating that 76.5% of the variation in burnout academic can be explained by study hours and academic workload, while the remaining 23.5% is influenced by other factors outside this study. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that higher study hours at school and greater academic workload lead to higher levels of students’ burnout academic. Therefore, it is necessary to manage study hours and academic workload proportionally to minimize the level of students’ burnout academic.
