Abstract

This classroom action research was motivated by the low self-efficacy of fifth-grade students in mathematics learning, particularly on whole number material. Students tended to lack confidence in solving mathematical problems, hesitated to express their ideas, and easily gave up when facing challenging tasks. This study aimed to improve students’ self-efficacy through the implementation of Project Based Learning (PjBL) using the Population Data Fair project. The research was conducted at SDN Sukun 1 Kota Malang during the 2025/2026 academic year and involved 28 fifth-grade students. The study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design consisting of two cycles, each including planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. Data were collected through self-efficacy questionnaires, observation sheets, and documentation. The indicators of self-efficacy were adapted from Bandura’s theory, including confidence in completing mathematics tasks, willingness to face challenging problems, persistence in overcoming difficulties, confidence in collaborative work, self-confidence in presentations, and optimism in achieving learning success. The findings revealed that the implementation of the Population Data Fair project effectively improved students’ self-efficacy. The average self-efficacy score increased from 69.49% in Cycle I, categorized as good, to 85.86% in Cycle II, categorized as very good, resulting in an increase of 16.37%. These findings indicate that Project Based Learning through the Population Data Fair project can serve as an effective learning strategy to enhance students’ self-efficacy in learning whole numbers at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Teaching English grammar to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) presents various instructional challenges for teachers in inclusive classrooms due to students' diverse learning characteristics and needs. This study aimed to explore teachers' experiences in teaching English grammar to students with ASD in an inclusive educational setting. The study employed a qualitative research design using Braun and Clarke's thematic analysis. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis, with the English teacher serving as the key informant and supported by additional data sources. The findings revealed eight major themes: students found difficulty in understanding grammar, teachers applied face-to-face interaction, teachers needed additional instructional time, shadow teachers implemented teachers' instructions, shadow teachers communicated students' learning problems to teachers, differences in shadow teachers' firmness influenced students' learning, teachers taught students with different interests and characteristics, and teachers adjusted learning to students' capacities. These findings indicate that teaching English grammar to students with ASD requires instructional flexibility, individualized support, effective collaboration with shadow teachers, and continuous adaptation to students' diverse learning needs. The study concludes that understanding students' individual characteristics and adjusting instructional strategies are essential for creating a more inclusive and supportive English grammar learning environment.

Abstract

Writing is a crucial skill in developing English language proficiency to convey ideas and experiences in a structured manner. At the elementary school level, writing activities are often considered difficult and boring by students. Based on the Merdeka Curriculum Phase C for Grade V, students are expected to be able to compose simple descriptive texts accurately; however, the reality of students' competence at SDN Karet 01 Pagi is still relatively low. This study aims to improve students' descriptive text writing skills through the implementation of the Running Dictation method. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR), adapting the Kemmis and McTaggart model across two cycles with 30 fifth-grade students as subjects. Data were collected using written test instruments, observation sheets, interviews, documentation, and field notes. The results of the study indicated a significant improvement in each cycle. In cycle I, the average score for students' writing skills was 69 with a classical mastery percentage of 66.67%, while the action observation results showed teacher activity at 73.3% and student activity at 60%. In cycle II, the writing skills improved further, achieving a class average score of 82 and a classical mastery percentage of 83.33%. This improvement was also supported by the action observation results in cycle II, where teacher activity reached 93.33% and student activity stood at 86.67%. It can be concluded that the Running Dictation method is proven effective as an alternative innovative, collaborative, and engaging learning strategy to foster children's productive literacy.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low mathematics learning outcomes of elementary school students, which are often associated with conventional instruction and the limited use of engaging learning media. This study aimed to examine the effect of the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) cooperative learning model assisted by audiovisual media on fourth-grade students’ mathematics learning outcomes. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a Nonequivalent Control Group Design was employed. The sample consisted of 48 students, including 28 students in the experimental class and 20 students in the control class. The experimental class was taught using the NHT cooperative learning model assisted by audiovisual media, while the control class received conventional instruction. The research instrument was a mathematics achievement test administered as a pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed using the Lilliefors normality test, Levene’s homogeneity test, and an Independent Sample t-test. The results showed that the mean post-test score of the experimental class was 87.29, which was higher than that of the control class at 79.40. The t-test result indicated that tcount > ttable, namely 2.840 > 2.010 at the 0.05 significance level. Therefore, the NHT cooperative learning model assisted by audiovisual media had a significant effect on students’ mathematics learning outcomes. This model promoted active participation, individual accountability, group collaboration, and helped students understand mathematical concepts more concretely.
