Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of the peer teaching method on students' learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education at SMP Negeri 55 Merangin. The study was conducted because students' learning outcomes and classroom participation were relatively low under conventional teacher-centered instruction. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 40 eighth-grade students, with 20 students in the experimental class and 20 students in the control class. The experimental class was taught using the peer teaching method, while the control class received conventional instruction. Data were collected through pretest and posttest learning achievement tests and analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and Independent Samples T-Test with the assistance of SPSS software. The findings showed that the mean pretest scores of the experimental and control classes were 70.00 and 68.00, respectively. After the treatment, the mean posttest score of the experimental class increased to 91.00, while the control class reached 79.00. The results of the normality and homogeneity tests indicated that the data met the assumptions for hypothesis testing. Furthermore, the Independent Samples T-Test produced a significance value of 0.001 (< 0.05), indicating a statistically significant effect of the peer teaching method on students' learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education. Therefore, the peer teaching method was proven to be more effective than conventional teaching in improving students' learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study examines the role of AI-based audio-visual media in Arabic language learning, specifically to improve maharah istima' (listening skills) at Madrasah Pembangunan UIN Jakarta. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observation and interviews with students of class 10A on May 12, 2026. The results show that the school has implemented various supporting facilities, including a sound system in each classroom, Smart TV, and student tablets. The Arabic teacher, H. Ubai Baijuri, S.Pd., focuses on istima' and khiwar skills using bilingual audio modules and AI-based learning media. Students independently produce learning videos using ChatGPT for image generation, Iorai for expressive conversation, CapCut for video editing, and ElevenLabs for voice synthesis, resulting in Arabic cartoon podcasts. Although students still find Arabic difficult due to limited foundational knowledge, they find AI-based media engaging and interactive. This study concludes that AI-based audio-visual media holds significant potential in improving students' listening competence and encourages adaptive, student-centered learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the level of self-efficacy among students of the Guidance and Counseling Study Program, class of 2023, at Universitas Jambi, viewed from three dimensions proposed by Bandura, namely magnitude, strength, and generality. A descriptive quantitative method was used with a sample of 52 students calculated through Slovin's formula from a population of 110 active students. Data were collected using a self-efficacy questionnaire consisting of 14 items rated on a four-point Likert scale, developed from Bandura's (1997) three-dimensional framework. All 14 items were declared valid through corrected item-total correlation, with a Cronbach's Alpha reliability coefficient of 0.877. Data were analyzed descriptively through mean, median, standard deviation, frequency, and percentage, then categorized into high, medium, and low levels based on the mean and standard deviation norm. Results showed that the average total score was 44.73 out of a theoretical maximum of 70, with 65.4 percent of students in the medium category, while high and low categories each accounted for 17.3 percent. At the item level, students showed the strongest belief in completing difficult academic tasks through effort, while the weakest belief was found in adapting to changing lecturing methods and persisting through complex group assignments. These findings indicate that most students already hold a fairly adequate level of confidence in their academic abilities, but this confidence is not yet fully strong or consistent when facing more complex and unfamiliar academic demands. Guidance and counseling services are recommended to strengthen students' generality dimension of self-efficacy through structured mastery experiences and positive verbal persuasion.

Abstract

This study is motivated by Indonesia’s multidimensional character crisis and moral decadence, which reflect the failure of a purely cognitive-oriented model of education. The book Mendidik Hati Membentuk Karakter by Suparlan proposes that character building must begin with the healing of the heart (qalb). This study aims to analyze Suparlan’s concept of heart education, the strategies he offers for its implementation, and its relevance from the perspective of contemporary Islamic education. This research is a qualitative library research, using the book Mendidik Hati Membentuk Karakter as the primary data source. Data were collected through documentation techniques involving comprehensive reading and thematic classification, then analyzed using systematic and inductive content analysis. The findings show that, first, Suparlan positions the qalb as the center of human moral consciousness. Second, he constructs four integrated strategies of heart education, namely Tazkiyyah (purification of the heart), Tazyinah (adornment of the heart with faith), Tadabburah (contemplation of the Qur’an), and Tarabbuthah (reinforcement of consistent worship). Third, these strategies show strong relevance to classical Islamic thought, such as al-Ghazali’s concept of soul purification, while also aligning with modern psychological theories of self-regulation and character building. This construction offers a concrete solution for addressing the moral decadence faced by today’s digital generation. Keywords: Heart Education, Character Building, Suparlan, Tazkiyyah

Abstract

Innovations in ICT have fundamentally reshaped societal communication styles, particularly within early childhood demographics (0–6 years old), who are increasingly exposed to social media. While digital spaces offer constructive advantages as learning instruments and creative outlets, they simultaneously introduce critical threats. These include risky sharenting behaviors, commercial exploitation of minors online, vulnerability to adult material, and cyber-harassment that threatens children's privacy and identity. This research uses a normative legal research method with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection was conducted through literature review utilizing primary legal materials, including the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, the Child Protection Law, and various other related regulations, supported by secondary legal materials in the form of scientific articles and relevant literature. Based on constitutional provisions, Article 28B paragraph (2) of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia affirms the right of every child to live, grow, and develop, and to receive protection from all forms of violence and discriminatory treatment. In the digital space, Indonesia already has several legal instruments, such as the Child Protection Law, the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (ITE), and the Personal Data Protection Law (PDP), which require parental consent before processing children's data. However, the success of this protection is not solely determined by government regulations but also by the protective efforts of the family environment through the judicious implementation of digital parenting. Therefore, protecting the rights of early childhood amidst the widespread use of social media is a shared

Abstract

Mathematics is an essential subject in education because it provides the foundation for developing reasoning, logical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. However, mathematics learning in elementary schools still faces challenges, including students' low learning motivation, the perception that mathematics is difficult and uninteresting, and the dominance of conventional teaching methods. Therefore, instructional innovation through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model based on the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach is needed. This study aimed to determine the differences in fourth-grade students' mathematics learning motivation and learning outcomes before and after the implementation of the TaRL-based PBL model, as well as the differences between the TaRL-based PBL model and the conventional learning model. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 46 fourth-grade students. Data were collected through a learning motivation questionnaire, mathematics achievement tests, and observations, and analyzed using the Paired Sample t-Test and MANOVA. The results showed significant differences in learning motivation (p < 0.001) and mathematics learning outcomes (p < 0.05) before and after the implementation of the TaRL-based PBL model. MANOVA also indicated significant differences between the TaRL-based PBL model and the conventional learning model (Wilks' Lambda = 0.034; p < 0.05), supported by the Tests of Between-Subjects Effects for learning motivation (F = 855.427; p = 0.000) and learning outcomes (F = 12.195; p = 0.001). Therefore, significant differences were found in students' mathematics learning motivation and learning outcomes before and after the implementation of the TaRL-based PBL model and between the TaRL-based PBL model and the conventional learning model.

Abstract

This study aims to describe self-regulated learning (SRL) among students of the Guidance and Counseling Study Program at Universitas Jambi, class of 2023, viewed from four aspects: planning, self-monitoring, self-control, and self-reflection. A descriptive quantitative method was used with a sample of 32 students drawn through simple random sampling based on Slovin's formula from a population of 110 active students. Data were collected using a self-regulated learning questionnaire consisting of 26 valid and reliable items developed from Pintrich's four-phase framework, with a Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 0.896. Data were analyzed descriptively through mean, standard deviation, frequency, and percentage, then categorized into high, medium, and low levels. Results showed that 75.0 percent of students were in the medium category of overall SRL, while high and low categories each accounted for 12.5 percent. Among the four aspects, self-monitoring showed the lowest relative achievement (37.88 percent) with the largest proportion of low category (21.9 percent), while self-control showed the most favorable profile, with the largest medium category proportion (84.4 percent) and the smallest low category proportion (6.2 percent). These findings indicate that most students have not yet consistently applied self-regulation strategies throughout the process of writing their undergraduate thesis, particularly in monitoring their own learning progress. Guidance and counseling services are recommended to focus on strengthening metacognitive monitoring skills through structured group guidance and individual counseling programs.

Abstract

This study examines Generation Z's reception of the representation of the sandwich generation in the Indonesian film 1 Kakak 7 Ponakan. Using a qualitative approach and Stuart Hall's encoding/decoding model, data were collected through in-depth interviews with six purposively selected Generation Z informants. The findings reveal three interpretive positions: dominant-hegemonic, negotiated, and oppositional. Informants in the dominant-hegemonic position viewed Moko's sacrifice as a symbol of family responsibility and maturity. Those in the negotiated position accepted family responsibility while emphasizing personal boundaries and mental well-being. In contrast, informants in the oppositional position rejected the film's idealized portrayal of self-sacrifice, arguing that it oversimplifies the realities of the sandwich generation. Overall, the findings show that Generation Z actively negotiates the meanings of family responsibility, sacrifice, and personal well-being. The study highlights film as a space where these meanings are negotiated within contemporary Indonesian families.
