Abstract

This study analyzes the effectiveness of physical revitalization at Taman Harmoni Surabaya (the former Keputih landfill) in transforming its destination image and enhancing its urban eco-tourism appeal. Using a descriptive qualitative case-study method, data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation involving three purposively sampled informants — individuals familiar with the area’s history and first-time visitors. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles et al. (2014), comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that landscape transformation through aesthetic elements, such as Tabebuya trees, thematic continent-based zones, and a bamboo-forest culinary area, effectively eliminates past negative stigma associated with the site’s history as a landfill. Organic user-generated content on Instagram and TikTok further amplified the destination’s digital exposure, attracting domestic and international visitors. This physical and digital optimization has established Taman Harmoni as a healthy, sustainable public space and a determining factor in increasing tourist visits.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of profitability, proxied by Return on Assets (ROA), leverage, proxied by Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), and firm size on stock prices of industrial sector companies included in the LQ45 Index listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2023–2025 period. This research is motivated by the importance of corporate financial performance information as a basis for investors in making investment decisions in the capital market. This study employed a quantitative approach with a causal research design. The data used were secondary data obtained from the financial statements of industrial sector companies included in the LQ45 Index during the observation period. Multiple linear regression analysis was applied to examine the partial and simultaneous effects of the independent variables on the dependent variable. The findings indicate that, partially, profitability (ROA) has no significant effect on stock prices, suggesting that the company's ability to generate profits has not directly influenced stock price movements. Likewise, leverage (DER) does not have a significant effect on stock prices, indicating that the level of corporate debt is not the primary consideration for investors in valuing company shares. In contrast, firm size has a positive and significant effect on stock prices, implying that companies with larger total assets tend to have higher stock values. Simultaneously, profitability (ROA), leverage (DER), and firm size have a significant effect on stock prices. These findings suggest that companies should maintain strong financial performance and expand their business scale to enhance investor confidence and increase firm value.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low critical thinking skills of elementary school students in science learning, particularly on economic activity material. This is caused by the learning process which is still dominated by lecture methods and the minimal use of interactive learning media. This study aims to examine the effect of the Guided Inquiry model assisted by interactive multimedia on students' critical thinking skills. The research method used is quasi-experimental with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research sample involved 56 fifth-grade students of SDN Cisarua, Sukabumi City, divided into experimental class (28 students) and control class (28 students). Data were collected through critical thinking skills test instruments in the form of pretest and posttest. Data analysis techniques include normality tests, homogeneity tests, Independent Sample t-Test, and N-Gain tests. The results showed an increase in the average score in the experimental class from 40.93 (pretest) to 87.86 (posttest), while the control class increased from 40.96 to 62.14. Based on the hypothesis test, a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05 was obtained, meaning H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Furthermore, the N-Gain test results showed the experimental class achieved 0.798 (79.76%) in the high category, while the control class only achieved 0.353 (35.32%) in the medium category. In conclusion, the application of the Guided Inquiry model assisted by interactive multimedia has proven to have a significant and effective effect in improving the critical thinking skills of elementary school students.

Abstract

The ability to write poetry is one of the important competencies in Indonesian language learning because it plays a role in developing creativity, emotional sensitivity, and students' ability to express themselves. However, the poetry writing skills of class X TPM 3 students of SMK Negeri 3 Surabaya are still relatively low, as indicated by 53% of students obtaining scores below the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) of 75 in the pre-action stage. This study aims to improve poetry writing skills through the application of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model based on Problem Based Learning (PBL). The study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with a quantitative approach implemented in two cycles. The research subjects were 30 class X TPM 3 students of SMK Negeri 3 Surabaya. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation and poetry writing skills tests in each learning cycle. The results of the study showed that the application of the CIRC model was able to improve students' poetry writing skills gradually. At the end of cycle I, the percentage of learning completion increased to 60%, while at the end of cycle II it increased to 80% of students who had achieved the KKM. This improvement was supported by group discussion activities, providing poetry examples, peer feedback, and a collaborative process in developing ideas. Furthermore, critical thinking skills and social interactions among students also contributed to improving the quality of the poetry produced. Thus, the CIRC learning model based on Problem Based Learning has proven effective in improving the poetry writing skills of class X TPM 3 students at SMK Negeri 3 Surabaya.

Abstract

Sharia violations remain a persistent problem in Banda Aceh City despite various preventive measures undertaken by the Civil Service Police Unit and Wilayatul Hisbah (Satpol PP/WH). Violations such as improper dress, ikhtilat, and khalwat continue to occur in public spaces. This study aims to analyze the preventive efforts undertaken by Satpol PP/WH, identify the challenges faced in their implementation, and examine public perceptions of these efforts. A qualitative approach with a descriptive design was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews and documentation involving Satpol PP/WH officials and community members, then analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that preventive efforts were carried out through routine patrols, socialization, education, guidance, and persuasive approaches, supported by cooperation with religious and community leaders and social media platforms. However, these efforts continue to face internal challenges such as limited personnel, facilities, and budget, and external challenges such as low public legal awareness, social and technological influence, and weak family supervision. The public generally perceives these efforts positively, considering them effective in raising awareness and reducing violations, although supervision in peripheral areas is regarded as insufficient. The study concludes that the effectiveness of sharia enforcement depends not only on legal structure and substance but also on the legal culture of the community, in line with Friedman's Legal System Theory and Hirschi's Social Control Theory. It is recommended that Satpol PP/WH strengthen continuous socialization and community guidance, that the local government provide adequate resources, and that families and communities take a more active supervisory role.

Abstract

The digital era, marked by the digital native phenomenon, has created a paradox in higher education. On one hand, technology offers abundant access to information; on the other, it fosters instant thinking patterns and the dominance of a fixed mindset among students. This condition calls for systematic efforts to cultivate a growth mindset through an integrated approach. This study aims to examine and analyze the effect of technology integration and lecturer role models on students' growth mindset, both partially and simultaneously. The theoretical framework is grounded in the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) by Davis (1989), Social Learning Theory by Bandura (1977), and Growth Mindset Theory by Dweck (2006). A quantitative approach was employed using a purposive sampling technique. The population consisted of 188 students of the Office Administration Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Surabaya, class of 2022, with a sample of 134 respondents determined through the Slovin formula. Data were collected through a five-point Likert scale questionnaire distributed via Google Form and analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 25. The findings reveal that technology integration has a positive and significant effect on growth mindset (sig. 0.000; t = 4.995), as does the lecturer role model (sig. 0.001; t = 3.452). Simultaneously, both variables significantly influence growth mindset (sig. 0.000; F = 47.520), with a coefficient of determination of 42%. This study concludes that directed technology integration combined with inspiring lecturer role models synergistically fosters a conducive learning ecosystem for students' growth mindset.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the Human Development Index (HDI), Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR), and Gini Ratio on the poverty rate in Kebumen Regency during the 2011-2024 period. The study employed a quantitative approach using secondary time-series data obtained from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), analyzed through multiple linear regression with the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method. The classical assumption tests indicated that the regression model satisfied the assumptions of normality and was free from multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, and autocorrelation. The results showed that the Human Development Index had a negative and significant effect on the poverty rate, while the Labor Force Participation Rate and Gini Ratio had no significant partial effects. Simultaneously, the three independent variables significantly affected the poverty rate, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.944, indicating that 94.4% of the variation in poverty could be explained by the model. These findings confirm that improving the quality of human development remains the most effective strategy for poverty alleviation in Kebumen Regency.
