Abstract

This study aims to describe the dynamics of the hierarchy of needs of the three main characters in the Korean drama Big Mouth directed by Oh Choong Hwan episodes 1–8 based on the perspective of Abraham Maslow's humanistic psychology. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a study of literary psychology. The research data source is the Korean drama Big Mouth episodes 1–8, while the research data are in the form of dialogues, actions, conflicts, and expressions of the characters that show the levels of needs, namely the need for safety, esteem, and self-actualization. Data collection techniques are carried out through listening, note-taking, and documentation techniques, while data analysis is carried out through data reduction, classification, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the dynamics of needs in the three main characters develop differently according to the conflicts faced. The need for safety and esteem becomes the dominant need, while the need for self-actualization appears as a form of character development. The research findings show that the psychological development of the characters in the drama Big Mouth represents a gradual process of fulfilling needs as proposed by Abraham Maslow. This study confirms that the theory of the hierarchy of needs is relevant to analyze the psychological dynamics of characters in audiovisual literary works.

Abstract

The phenomenon of sugar relationships has increasingly been represented in digital media, including the Sugar Daddy drama series on the Viu streaming platform. Such representations shape public understandings of Generation Z women's identities and economic power relations. This study aimed to analyze the representation of Generation Z women's in the Sugar Daddy drama series. This research employed a qualitative approach using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis through the levels of denotation, connotation, and myth. The data consisted of 23 selected scenes that were relevant to the research objectives. The findings showed that the series represented Generation Z women through two different identities those women who maintained their principles despite economic pressures and women who voluntarily viewed sugar relationships as material-based transactional relationships. The findings also indicated that economic power relations were represented through men's economic dominance, while female characters still retained the ability to make choices and negotiate the terms of their relationships. The myth analysis revealed that the series both reproduced and deconstructed social myths surrounding Generation Z women, age-gap relationships, and sugar relationships. This study concluded that the Sugar Daddy drama series represented Generation Z women's identities and economic power relations as socially constructed meanings that could not be understood solely through stereotypes existing in society.

Abstract

Early reading skills are fundamental competencies that must be mastered by elementary school students because they serve as the foundation for developing subsequent literacy abilities. However, preliminary observations conducted in Grade II of SD Negeri 1 Bebalang revealed that many students still experienced difficulties in recognizing letters, combining syllables, and reading simple words and sentences fluently. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the Qreatif Educative application in improving students' early reading skills and to describe the learning model implemented through the application. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consisted of two cycles: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants were 23 second-grade students of SD Negeri 1 Bebalang. Data were collected through observation sheets, reading performance tests, and documentation, and then analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The findings indicated a significant improvement in students' early reading skills after implementing the Qreatif Educative application. The average reading score increased from 73.35 in Cycle I to 89.13 in Cycle II, while classical learning mastery improved from 39.13% to 95.65%. Students also demonstrated higher learning engagement, confidence, and collaboration during the learning process. The learning model, which integrated digital educational games, collaborative group activities, guided reading practice, and immediate feedback, created a more interactive and enjoyable learning environment. Abstract

The rapid evolution of wireless communication systems from 1G to 5G has driven the demand for higher data rates, lower latency, improved spectral efficiency, and enhanced resolution. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) has been adopted as the fundamental waveform for modern wireless systems due to its robustness against multipath fading and ease of implementation. However, certain limitations—including high out-of-band emissions, cyclic prefix overhead, and reduced spectral efficiency—have motivated the exploration of alternative waveform technologies for future sixth-generation (6G) networks. This study presents a comparative analysis of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and Filter Bank Multicarrier (FBMC) waveforms for enhanced wireless communication in 5G networks and beyond. A qualitative literature review combined with simulation-based analysis was employed, utilizing findings from previous MATLAB-based investigations conducted in indoor, rural, and urban wireless environments. Performance metrics such as Bit Error Rate (BER), Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR), latency, throughput, and spectral efficiency were examined. The results indicate that FBMC offers superior spectral efficiency and lower latency, largely due to the elimination of the cyclic prefix and the implementation of subcarrier filtering. Conversely, OFDM demonstrates lower implementation complexity and maintains robust performance under practical deployment conditions. The study concludes that while OFDM remains the preferred waveform for current 5G deployments, FBMC is a promising candidate for future 6G systems where spectral efficiency and ultra-low latency are critical requirements.
