Abstract

This study aims to explore forms of local wisdom in Batu Bara Regency that are relevant to Social Studies learning in elementary schools through an ethnopedagogical interview approach. As the cultural heritage of Batu Bara's multiethnic community, consisting of Batak, Malay, Javanese, and Minangkabau ethnic groups, local wisdom has strong potential as a contextual learning resource that remains underutilized in Social Studies instruction. This qualitative case study was conducted at Pematang Rambai 08 PES and Bandar Sono 11 PES during the 2026/2027 academic year. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with fourth and fifth grade teachers, students, and four community leaders representing different ethnic groups, supported by participant observation and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model. The findings reveal three main results. First, eight forms of local wisdom relevant to elementary Social Studies were identified, including Dalihan Na Tolu, Tepung Tawar, interethnic mutual cooperation, the annual Pesta Tapai tradition, and Bolo Kampung. Second, the ethnopedagogical interview approach enhanced students' active participation and critical thinking compared with conventional instruction. Third, integrating local wisdom into Social Studies contributed to strengthening three dimensions of the Profil Pelajar Pancasila: global diversity, collaboration, and critical reasoning. The novelty of this study is the development of the Three Layer Ethnopedagogical Interview Model (MWET), which systematically connects Batu Bara's local wisdom with Social Studies learning outcomes in the Merdeka Curriculum and provides a practical framework for contextual learning in culturally diverse elementary classrooms

Abstract

The limited understanding of geometric transformation concepts highlights the need to link mathematics instruction with real-world experiences. This study aimed to determine whether ethnomathematics-based contextual learning-utilizing the architecture of the KH. Anas Mahfud Grand Mosque-had a significant effect on the conceptual understanding of 9th-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Kedungjajang. A quasi-experimental design was employed, specifically the Posttest-Only Control Group Design. Purposive sampling was used to select the participants, resulting in Class IX C (25 students) serving as the experimental group and Class IX B (25 students) as the control group. Data were collected via an essay-based posttest and documentation, then analyzed using tests for normality and homogeneity, followed by an independent sample t-test. The results revealed a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 (p < 0.05), with the experimental group achieving a higher mean posttest score (88.20) compared to the control group (68.96). These empirical findings demonstrate that implementing a local culture-based contextual learning strategy has a significant, positive impact on improving students' mastery of geometric transformation concepts

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of learning media in increasing the motivation to learn maharah lughawiyah (Arabic language skills) among students at Pondok Pesantren Darunnajah Jakarta. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation , with Arabic language teachers and students as the primary research subjects. Data analysis was conducted through three stages: data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions , while data validity was ensured using source and technique triangulation. The results indicate that Arabic teachers utilize various conventional and digital learning media—such as textbooks, flashcards, projectors, audio recordings, conversation videos, and interactive touch screens—tailored to the learning materials. The utilization of these diverse media effectively increases student motivation, as evidenced by enhanced attention, active participation, and greater confidence in language practice. Furthermore, learning media are integrated into daily boarding school programs managed by the student organization (OSDN), including projector-assisted "ilqo' mufrodat" (vocabulary delivery) and weekly Arabic movie screenings. This integration plays a critical role in strengthening the language environment (bi'ah lughawiyah) and supporting the official language policy. However, challenges remain, such as limited technological facilities in some classrooms and varying digital literacy levels among students. Therefore, continuous institutional support for digital facilities and ongoing teacher training are required to optimize learning media implementation.

Abstract

Technological advancements and the rise of social media have transformed communication within the higher education landscape. Instagram, a leading visual platform among the younger generation, is increasingly utilized by universities as an official communication channel and a tool to foster digital literacy. UPN Veteran East Java employs its official Instagram account, @upnveteranjawatimur, to disseminate academic information and bolster the institution's reputation. However, the actual effectiveness of this communication medium remains uncertain. A potential gap between the messages conveyed by the university and the students' interpretation of them could lead to misunderstandings, lower engagement levels, and reduced institutional communication effectiveness. Furthermore, existing research specifically examining student perceptions of UPN Veteran East Java’s official university Instagram account is limited. This study aims to explore in depth the perspectives of UPN Veteran East Java students regarding the @upnveteranjawatimur Instagram account as a campus information medium. The findings are expected to provide insights into the platform's effectiveness, identify potential areas of miscommunication, and serve as a basis for the university to evaluate the quality of information delivery ensuring it is accurate, informative, and aligned with student needs.

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research aims to improve the learning outcomes of third-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Banyuripan through the implementation of Growth Mindset-based Student Worksheets on the topic of Data Collection and Presentation. The research was motivated by the students’ low learning outcomes, in which only 2 out of 25 students (8%) met the Minimum Passing Criteria, as well as the presence of psychological factors in the form of a fixed mindset that caused students to lack self-confidence, fear making mistakes, and give up easily when facing learning difficulties. The study employed the Kemmis and McTaggart model, implemented over two cycles, encompassing the stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects consisted of 25 third-grade students at Banyuripan State Elementary School 1. Data were collected through achievement tests at the end of each cycle and then analyzed using quantitative descriptive methods. The results showed an improvement in learning outcomes in each cycle. In Cycle I, 15 out of 25 students (60%) achieved learning mastery with a class average score of 72. After instructional improvements were implemented in Cycle II, all students (25 students) achieved learning mastery, with the class average score rising to 88—representing a 100% mastery rate (a 40% increase from Cycle I). This improvement was also accompanied by growth in the ability to collect and present data (from 84% to 93%), problem-solving skills (from 64% to 81%), and self-awareness regarding challenges (from 77% to 95%). Thus, the implementation of Growth Mindset-Based Student Worksheets can improve learning outcomes, as evidenced by the increase in each indicator across every cycle.
