Abstract

Tae, Metriana (2026) Title: The Influence of Teacher Personality Competence on Student Discipline at GMIT Oesapa Elementary School. Thesis. Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Citra Bangsa University, Kupang. Supervisor I: Heryon Bernard Mbuik, S.PAK., M.Pd., Supervisor II: Alvin Javier Hano, S.Pd., M.Pd.. Teacher personality competence is the ability related to the attitudes, values, and personality possessed by teachers in carrying out their duties as educators, thereby improving student discipline. However, suboptimal teacher personality competence results in low student discipline. Based on the results of pre-observations conducted during the approximately three-month PPL activities, from August 2 to October 28, 2025, at GMIT Oesapa Elementary School, it was found that the level of student discipline still needs to be improved. From the data observed in the fifth grade of GMIT Oesapa Elementary School, there were still some who were late to school, did not complete or were late in submitting assignments, violated school rules such as not wearing complete attributes or talking when the teacher was explaining, and paid less attention during the learning process. These data indicate that the disciplinary behavior of students at the school is still not optimal. This condition can certainly affect the smoothness of the learning process and the achievement of educational goals at school. This study used a quantitative approach with the ex post facto method. The research population was all fifth grade students of GMIT Oesapa Elementary School, totaling 29 people and used as research samples. The data collection technique used a Likert scale questionnaire and data analysis used simple linear regression with the help of SPSS version 25. The results of the study showed that there was a positive and significant influence between teacher personality competence on student discipline with a significance value of 0.039 (<0.05). The regression coefficient value of 0.990 indicates that every increase in teacher personality competence will be followed by an increase in student discipline, while the coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.878 indicates a contribution of 87,8%. It can be concluded that teacher personality competency significantly influences student discipline, thus improving teacher personality competency is necessary to create effective learning.

Abstract

Character education has become one of the primary priorities in Indonesian education to develop students who possess not only academic competence but also strong moral and religious values. However, the effectiveness of character development is highly influenced by teachers' commitment in implementing sustainable educational programs. This study aims to analyze the commitment of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in fostering students' character through religious activities at SMP Negeri 21 Batang Hari. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the principal, Islamic Religious Education teachers, several teachers, and students selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of data analysis, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that the commitment of Islamic Religious Education teachers plays a significant role in strengthening students' religious, disciplinary, responsible, polite, honest, and socially caring character through various religious activities, including congregational prayers, Qur'an recitation, Yasin recitation, Friday charity programs, religious lectures, and Islamic boarding school activities during Ramadan. Teachers demonstrated their commitment by actively planning, implementing, supervising, mentoring, evaluating, and serving as role models throughout the character-building process. Although several obstacles were identified, including students' low motivation, family support, and peer influence, these challenges were addressed through continuous habituation, individual guidance, exemplary behavior, and collaboration with parents. Therefore, teachers' commitment serves as the key factor in ensuring the successful implementation of character education through religious activities in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of experiment-based learning, observation-based learning, and interpretation-based learning in the Science Club Program on improving students' academic achievement at Science Club Partner Schools in Tangerang City. The study employed a quantitative method with a causal associative approach to examine the relationships and effects of the independent variables on the dependent variable. The research population consisted of 75 teachers from Science Club Indonesia Partner Schools, with a sample of 63 respondents determined using the Slovin formula at a 5% margin of error. The sampling technique used was proportional stratified random sampling, followed by simple random sampling within each school cluster. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire that had met the requirements of validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression analysis. The results indicate that experiment-based learning, observation-based learning, and interpretation-based learning each have a positive relationship with the improvement of students' academic achievement. Furthermore, the combinations of experiment-based learning and observation-based learning, experiment-based learning and interpretation-based learning, as well as observation-based learning and interpretation-based learning also demonstrate positive relationships with students' academic achievement. Simultaneously, experiment-based learning, observation-based learning, and interpretation-based learning within the Science Club Program have a positive effect on improving students' academic achievement. The findings suggest that the integrated implementation of these three learning approaches creates a more active learning experience, enhances students' scientific thinking skills, and contributes to improved academic achievement.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the intrinsic elements, character education values, and relevance of the novel “Burlian” by Tere Liye as teaching material for the topic of reviewing works of fiction in Grade VIII of junior high school (SMP). The study is motivated by students' low proficiency in identifying the intrinsic elements of literary works and the limited availability of teaching materials that integrate character education values into instruction. A qualitative approach with a descriptive method was employed. The primary data source was the novel “Burlian” by Tere Liye, with data consisting of phrases, sentences, dialogue, and paragraphs containing intrinsic elements and character education values. Supporting data were obtained through interviews with an Indonesian language teacher. Data collection techniques included document study and interviews, while data analysis involved data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the novel “Burlian” possesses a complete set of intrinsic elements: theme, characters and characterization, plot, setting, point of view, language style, and moral message. The study also identified seven character education values: religiosity, honesty, discipline, tolerance, friendliness/communicativeness, social awareness, and responsibility. Based on a relevance assessment covering linguistic, psychological, and socio-cultural aspects, as well as alignment with the Kurikulum Merdeka (Independent Curriculum), the novel “Burlian” is deemed suitable for use as teaching material for reviewing works of fiction in Grade VIII SMP.
