Abstract

Continuity of reading practice beyond school hours is essential for strengthening the literacy skills of primary school students through the connection of learning experiences between school and home. This study aims to describe the continuity of students' reading practice after school hours, the role of teachers in directing home reading activities, and parental support for children's reading practice. The urgency of this study is grounded in the need to build a consistent reading habit amid the tendency for after-school time to be dominated by play and digital device use. The novelty of this study lies in the analysis of the continuity gap among teacher assignments, student reading practice, and family support as a single learning sequence across spaces. This study used a descriptive qualitative design in two primary education units in East Lombok. Informants consisted of two teachers, ten students, and ten parents or guardians. Data were obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed through data condensation, data display, pattern identification, and cross-source verification. The results show three main findings. First, home reading activity occurs sporadically and has not yet developed into a daily habit. Second, teachers have provided reading assignments and guidance with varying frequency, form, monitoring, and follow-up across classes. Third, parents provide motivation, reminders, assistance, and facilities with varying intensity. This study concludes that the continuity of reading practice requires a more systematic connection among school assignments, student routines, family assistance, and teacher feedback. Keywords: learning continuity, reading, primary school students, teacher's role, parents' role

Abstract

This article synthesizes evidence on how leadership styles improve employee performance in public organizations. A structured literature review was conducted using 15 verified academic sources on transformational, transactional, participative, ethical, servant, change, and public leadership. Sources were selected through keyword searches and analyzed thematically by leadership mechanism, employee outcome, contextual condition, and implementation risk. Transformational leadership consistently supports contextual performance, commitment, innovation, and mission alignment through vision, inspirational communication, intellectual stimulation, and individualized support. Transactional leadership remains relevant for task clarity, discipline, monitoring, and contingent rewards, but is insufficient alone where innovation and adaptation are required. Participative, ethical, and servant practices strengthen trust, fairness, employee voice, and organizational citizenship behavior. In public organizations, these effects operate through mission valence, public service motivation, leader-employee relationship quality, and commitment to change. An effective approach integrates transformational direction, participative decision-making, ethical conduct, and proportional transactional control.

Abstract

This article synthesizes evidence on learning service quality management as a strategy for improving instructional quality in secondary and vocational schools. A structured literature review was conducted using 15 verified academic and institutional sources concerning Total Quality Management, the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle, data-informed decision-making, instructional leadership, academic supervision, teacher professional development, feedback, and continuous school improvement. The sources were selected through explicit relevance and credibility criteria and analyzed thematically according to planning, implementation, evaluation, follow-up, enabling conditions, and implementation risks. The synthesis shows that quality improvement becomes effective when learning goals, curriculum, teacher assignments, facilities, and assessment plans are aligned at the planning stage; student-centered instruction, formative assessment, technology, and vocational relevance are maintained during implementation; supervision and multiple data sources are used during evaluation; and findings are converted into corrective actions, professional learning, and revised programs. The major enabling conditions are instructional leadership, teacher competence, collaborative quality culture, adequate infrastructure, and usable data. The main risks are administrative compliance without instructional change, fragmented data, unequal teacher capacity, limited facilities, and technology adoption without pedagogical purpose. An integrated PDCA framework is proposed for an anonymized Vocational School X.

Abstract

This study examines how the school environment influences students' learning motivation through a structured library review. Fifteen verified references published between 1998 and 2024 were selected from peer-reviewed journals and an OECD report. The literature was classified into physical, social, academic, safety-discipline, and institutional dimensions and analyzed descriptively. The findings indicate that a positive school environment is consistently associated with stronger interest, persistence, participation, belonging, and academic engagement. Comfortable learning spaces reduce distraction; supportive teacher-student and peer relationships strengthen psychological safety and relatedness; clear expectations, fair discipline, informative feedback, and autonomy-supportive instruction reinforce competence and the perceived value of learning tasks. These dimensions operate interactively rather than independently. Therefore, schools should evaluate facilities, relationships, instructional practices, safety, and student voice as one integrated motivational system. Because much of the evidence is correlational, the term influence should be interpreted as a theoretically supported relationship rather than a single causal estimate.

Abstract

The development of disciplined character is one of the primary goals of elementary education because it helps students develop responsibility, self-control, and compliance with school rules. However, many elementary school students still demonstrate low levels of discipline, including arriving late to school, violating school regulations, and showing limited responsibility in completing academic tasks. These conditions highlight the need to optimize guidance and counseling services as an effective strategy for fostering students' disciplinary character. This study aimed to describe the role of guidance and counseling services in developing the disciplinary character of elementary school students. The research employed a qualitative approach using a library research method. Data were collected from various scholarly sources, including books, journal articles, and relevant documents, and were analyzed through descriptive analysis involving data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that guidance and counseling services contribute significantly to the development of students' disciplinary character through individual guidance, group guidance, classroom guidance, habituation of disciplined behavior, teacher role modeling, motivational reinforcement, and collaboration between schools and parents. The success of disciplinary character development is supported by consistent counseling implementation, parental involvement, and a positive school environment. Therefore, guidance and counseling services represent an effective and sustainable strategy for developing disciplinary character among elementary school students.
