Abstract

Character education is an essential element of elementary education because it guides students to behave in accordance with social, religious, and moral principles. This study describes the implementation of character education and its contribution to student behavior at SD Negeri 3 Metro Barat. A descriptive qualitative design was used, with data obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students. Data processing comprised reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, while credibility was examined through source and technique triangulation. The results show that character values are cultivated through classroom instruction, repeated habituation, teacher role modeling, and a school culture integrated with the Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children Program. The activities consist of reading holy scriptures before lessons, Friday Blessing, Friday Charity (Jumat Infak), Clean Friday (Jumat Bersih), congregational Duha prayer, the Jumpangsi creative performance, and the 5S culture (Smile, Greet, Salute, Politeness, and Courtesy). The principal values emphasized are religiosity, discipline, responsibility, honesty, care, cooperation, and respectful behavior. These programs have encouraged positive changes in students, although their outcomes remain less than optimal because behavior is also shaped by family circumstances, peer interaction, and digital-media exposure. Continuous cooperation among schools, parents, and the community is therefore required to strengthen students' character development.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of Grade XI-G students in Informatics on Mobile Application Development Using App Inventor, with a class average of 70.89 and classical mastery of only 25% out of 36 students against a mastery criterion (KKTP) of 78. This study aimed to improve student learning outcomes through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles, each comprising planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects were 36 Phase F students of Grade XI-G at SMA Negeri 1 Trenggalek, divided into 6 heterogeneous groups. Data were collected through observation, tests, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively, with a success indicator of at least 85% classical mastery. Results showed the class average increased from 73.75 in the pre-cycle to 77.92 in Cycle I and 82.31 in Cycle II; classical mastery increased from 27.78% to 58.33%, reaching 80.56% in Cycle II. Although the 85% target was not fully met, the improvements were significant across cognitive, psychomotor, and affective aspects, demonstrating that the Problem Based Learning model is effective in improving student learning outcomes on this material.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low endurance level of futsal extracurricular members at SMP Negeri 2 Cibitung, as indicated by students experiencing fatigue quickly during training sessions and matches. In addition, the training methods applied were less varied and not specifically focused on improving endurance. This study aimed to determine the effect of the Small-Sided Games training method on the endurance of futsal extracurricular members at SMP Negeri 2 Cibitung. This study employed an experimental method using a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample consisted of 16 students selected through a total sampling technique. Endurance was measured using the PACER Test (Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run). Data were analyzed using normality tests and hypothesis testing through the Paired Sample t-Test with SPSS version 25. The results showed that both pretest and posttest data were normally distributed. The mean pretest score was 13.80 and increased to 19.20 in the posttest. The Paired Sample t-Test revealed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Small-Sided Games training method had a significant effect on improving the endurance of futsal extracurricular members at SMP Negeri 2 Cibitung.

Abstract

Aldi’s Burger is a culinary business owned by Aldi Taher that successfully gained public attention through a viral communication strategy without heavily relying on paid advertising. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Aldi’s Burger communication tactics from the perspective of Ronald D. Smith’s Strategic Planning for Public Relations, particularly in the selection and integration of communication tactics. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach using a case study method. Data were collected through social media observation, digital documentation, analysis of online media coverage, and relevant literature review. The findings reveal that shared media emerged as the dominant communication tactic through humorous and repetitive commenting activities on Threads and Instagram, which successfully triggered public awareness and audience engagement. Furthermore, interpersonal communication through word-of-mouth and influencer reviews strengthened the credibility and legitimacy of the brand. This viral phenomenon later evolved into earned media in the form of extensive coverage by national online media. Meanwhile, the minimal use of paid media indicates that Aldi’s Burger relied more on organic audience participation than advertising-based promotion. This communication strategy reflects the characteristics of contemporary digital communication that emphasize audience participation as a central element in message dissemination. The study confirms that the integration of shared media, interpersonal communication, earned media, and owned media can create a low-cost yet high-impact communication strategy. These findings reinforce Ronald D. Smith’s perspective that creative communication and tactical integration are key factors in successful public relations communication. Practically, this study demonstrates that culinary MSMEs can develop brand awareness and legitimacy through creative digital communication strategies without depending heavily on paid advertising.

Abstract

The education sector was among the sectors most affected by the non-natural disaster of the COVID-19 pandemic. During this period, educational policies underwent a major transformation, shifting from conventional face-to-face instruction to fully online distance learning. Policymakers and education stakeholders experienced multiple stages of policy implementation, often accompanied by policy adjustments and revisions. Interactions among stakeholders, which had previously involved primarily the Education Office and schools, expanded to include parents as active participants in supporting learning at home. Consequently, the policy network became broader than that typically observed in public policy implementation. This study aims to explain the factors contributing to the successful implementation of education policy during the COVID-19 pandemic in Agam Regency. A qualitative approach was employed using data collected through interviews and document analysis, including the COVID-19 daily records published on the Agam Media Center website. The findings reveal that the successful implementation of education policy during the COVID-19 pandemic was influenced by four factors proposed by George Edward III: (1) effective policy communication, characterized by the rapid and accurate transmission of policy information among implementers through online communication platforms and limited face-to-face meetings; (2) adequate policy resources, including regional government budget allocations (APBD), facilities, and infrastructure adapted to health protocols, as well as coordinated human resources through the Agam Regency COVID-19 Task Force; (3) democratic attitudes, openness, and cooperative behavior among implementing actors; and (4) a well-defined bureaucratic structure and strong interagency coordination supported by clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The success of policy implementation was further strengthened by intensive coordination and interaction among government agencies, schools, community groups, and parents in supporting students' learning at home.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the efforts of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in increasing student learning motivation, the obstacles faced by teachers, and the efforts made in overcoming these obstacles at SMPT Al-Musyawarah Cabangbungin. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. Data was obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model which included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification. The results of the study show that PAI teachers' efforts to increase students' motivation to learn are carried out through four main strategies, namely providing encouragement and enthusiasm for learning, providing rewards, creating a conducive, safe, and fun classroom atmosphere, and using various learning methods. In its implementation, teachers face obstacles that come from internal and external factors of students, including low willingness to learn, differences in academic ability, the influence of the social environment, peer disturbances, and less conducive classroom conditions. To overcome these obstacles, teachers provide instructions and directions in learning, recognize students' interests and potential, and use varied learning media. The findings of the study show that teachers play the role of motivators, guides, and facilitators who apply adaptive and contextual strategies to create PAI learning that is engaging, active, and in accordance with the needs of students.

Abstract

Guidance and counseling services in early childhood education play an important role in supporting children’s social, emotional, behavioral, and self-adjustment development. However, the implementation of guidance and counseling services at the kindergarten level still faces several challenges, including the absence of professional counselors, limited teacher understanding regarding guidance and counseling services, and the lack of structured counseling programs. In addition, studies concerning the implementation of guidance and counseling services in local contexts, particularly in kindergartens in Samarinda, remain limited, as previous studies have primarily focused on conceptual discussions and program development. This condition indicates a research gap related to the actual implementation of guidance and counseling services for early childhood education in kindergarten settings. This study aimed to describe the implementation of guidance and counseling services for early childhood children in kindergartens in Samarinda City. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects consisted of kindergarten principals and teachers selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis was conducted using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that the implementation of guidance and counseling services for early childhood children in kindergartens in Samarinda City had been integrated into learning activities and daily habituation programs. The services implemented included orientation services, information services, social and emotional development assistance, simple individual counseling, and collaboration with parents. Teachers served as facilitators, mentors, developmental observers, mediators, and liaisons between schools and parents. Nevertheless, the implementation still encountered several obstacles, such as limited teacher competencies, the absence of structured guidance and counseling programs, and the lack of professional counselors. This study concludes that guidance and counseling services in kindergartens in Samarinda City have been implemented through preventive and developmental approaches; however, their implementation still requires strengthening through the development of structured counseling programs and the enhancement of teacher competencies to optimize service delivery

Abstract

Health education in Physical Education classes for 4th-grade students at SDN 38 Cakranegara is still conducted conventionally, as teachers rely solely on textbooks and whiteboards without incorporating technology based media innovations. This condition leaves students feeling bored, unfocused, and unenthusiastic during the learning process, resulting in a relatively low understanding of health maintenance regarding communicable and non-communicable diseases. To address this issue, the study aims to develop an e-booklet for communicable and non-communicable disease health maintenance in fourth-grade students at SDN 38 Cakranegara, and to evaluate validity and practicality of e-booklet. Employing the 4D Research and Development modelcomprising define, design, develop, and disseminate. The research involved 17 fourth-grade students and 2 teachers as study subjects. Data were collected using observation sheets, interviews, comprehension tests, and questionnaires. The evaluation results demonstrated excellent validity, with media experts scoring 91.35% and material experts scoring 96.15%, both falling into the highly valid category. Practicality assessments also yielded strong results: student response scores were 95% in the small-scale trial and 97.01% in the large-scale trial, while teacher response scores reached 96.43% and 98.21%, respectively. Thus, the developed e-booklet is declared highly valid, highly practical, and thoroughly suitable for teaching health maintenance against communicable and non-communicable diseases.
