Abstract

This study addresses the issue of low proficiency in the self-care skill of putting on shoes among a first-grade female student with autism at SLB Jenetallasa. The research questions are: (1) What was the student's ability to put on shoes before the implementation of the visual schedule method? (2) What was the student's ability to put on shoes after the implementation of the visual schedule method? (3) Was there an improvement in the ability to put on shoes through the implementation of the visual schedule method? The study aims to assess the self-care skill of putting on shoes before and after the intervention and to determine the extent of improvement. A quantitative approach with a descriptive research design was employed. The research subject was a first-grade female student with autism (initials: G) at SLB Jenetallasa. Data collection was conducted using tests, and data analysis involved comparing pre-test and post-test results regarding the self-care skill of putting on shoes. The results indicate that the skill level prior to the intervention was in the "very low" category (0% pre-test score), whereas after the implementation of the visual schedule method, it rose to 92.3%, falling into the "very good" category. Thus, the visual schedule method is effective for improving the self-care skill of putting on shoes in a first-grade student with autism at SLB Jenetallasa.

Abstract

Social media has become an important communication space where users construct identities, express opinions, and negotiate social meanings through language. Within this environment, gender stereotypes continue to emerge while also being challenged through user interactions. This study aims to analyze how language use in Instagram comments reflects and challenges gender stereotypes from a sociolinguistic perspective. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using 150 English-language comments collected from 15 posts on the Instagram account @therock through purposive sampling. The data were gathered through digital documentation and analyzed using the interactive model by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, which includes data collection, data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings reveal two dominant patterns of language use. Some comments reinforce traditional gender stereotypes by portraying men as protectors and symbols of strength, while women are represented as emotionally expressive and family-oriented. In contrast, other comments challenge these stereotypes through men’s expressions of emotional vulnerability and appreciation, as well as women’s encouragement of men’s health awareness and the sharing of personal experiences. These findings indicate that Instagram comments function not only as a medium of social interaction but also as a dynamic space where gender meanings are continuously reproduced and negotiated through language.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the highly abstract nature of concepts in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subjects particularly the topic of earth's relief which resulted in low student engagement and conceptual understanding among elementary students. This research aimed to describe in depth the teacher's strategies in planning, implementing, and evaluating IPAS instruction by integrating the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Google Earth media in Grade V at SDN 2 Labuhan Lombok. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed in this study. The primary subject was the fifth grade class teacher selected through purposive sampling. Data collection techniques included structured observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing with data validity verified through triangulation. The results revealed that the teacher's strategy was executed systematically across three stages. In the planning stage, the teacher designed instructional modules aligning PBL syntax with Google Earth's 3D spatial visualization, selected contextual local environmental issues (such as local flooding phenomena), and prepared digital infrastructure. During implementation, the teacher presented authentic problems via interactive satellite imagery, managed structured task-oriented group activities, and provided scaffolding and peer tutoring to resolve digital navigation hurdles. In the evaluation stage, the teacher applied a comprehensive authentic assessment covering affective, psychomotor, and cognitive domains through performance observation sheets and student worksheet analysis

Abstract

Student participation is an important aspect of successful English language learning, activities. However, many students are reluctant to participate actively due to low motivation, lack of confidence, and limited opportunities for meaningful interaction. This study aimed to investigate how joyful learning principles integrated into Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) build students’ participation in English classes and to identify the challenges encountered during its implementation. This study employed a qualitative case study design. Data were collected through classroom observations, student interviews, and teacher interviews and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model of qualitative data analysis. The findings revealed that integrating joyful learning principles within TBLT encouraged students’ behavioral, cognitive, and emotional engagement. Students actively participated in learning activities, collaborated with peers, completed assigned tasks, and engaged in discussions and problem-solving. Students also stated that enjoyable and interactive activities made them feel more comfortable, motivated, confident, and willing to participate. In addition, these learning activities provided meaningful opportunities for students to communicate, collaborate, and express their ideas in a supportive classroom environment. Several challenges were identified, including classroom management, differences in students’ motivation, confidence, and language proficiency, difficulties in designing tasks, and time constraints. Overall, the findings indicate that integrating joyful learning principles into TBLT supported students’ participation by creating a more engaging learning environment.

Abstract

This study analyzes how Tahfidz Al-Qur'an strategies shape orderly-character habituation among Group B kindergarten children, a foundation crucial for later formal-education readiness. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving tahfidz teachers, the principal, and parents. Results show that a structured daily routine, namely muraja'ah, listening to examples, collective repetition, and individual memorization submission, significantly transformed children's behavior. The resulting orderly character spans physical posture (sitting properly), self-regulation (focus and emotional control), and compliance with social rules such as queuing and waiting for turns, with effects extending into the home environment. Teachers' direct role modeling emerged as the primary supporting factor for the program's success. The study concludes that integrating religious values through consistent habituation strategies effectively builds early childhood behavioral control.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of grade IV students at SD Negeri 1 Tondano in Science and Social Sciences (IPAS). The low learning outcomes were caused by less varied learning methods, the dominance of one-way lecture methods, and the lack of active student involvement in the learning process. The purpose of this study was to improve the learning outcomes of grade IV students in IPAS learning at SD Negeri 1 Tondano through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) carried out in two cycles, each consisting of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were 18 fourth-grade students of SD Negeri 1 Tondano consisting of 13 male students and 5 female students. Data collection techniques used include observation, formative tests, and documentation, analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the implementation of the PBL model could improve student learning outcomes. In cycle I, the mastery level reached 69.8%. After improvements were made in cycle II, the value increased to 82.9%, exceeding the success indicator of 75% of students achieving KKTP. The PBL model is able to create an active, fun, and meaningful learning atmosphere, and encourages students to think critically and be actively involved in real problem solving.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of integrating an environmentally conscious attitude into IPAS instruction on the topic of environmental pollution for third-grade students at SDN Keroncong Mas Permai and to identify the factors that influence the integration of this attitude. An environmentally conscious attitude is one of the important character values that must be instilled starting in elementary school so that students develop awareness and a sense of responsibility toward environmental sustainability. IPAS instruction, particularly in the environmental pollution unit, serves as a relevant vehicle for integrating these values into learning activities. This study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive research design. The research subjects included third-grade teachers and third-grade students at SDN Keroncong Mas Permai. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, while data validity was ensured through triangulation of techniques and sources. The results of the study indicate that the integration of an environmentally conscious attitude into IPAS lessons on environmental pollution has been implemented through learning activities such as providing examples of environmentally conscious behavior, fostering the habit of keeping the classroom clean, using relevant learning media, and conducting discussions and question-and-answer sessions. Factors influencing the integration of an environmentally conscious attitude include the teacher’s role in planning and implementing instruction, the school environment’s support, environmentally conscious school programs, and student characteristics. Thus, integrating an environmentally conscious attitude into IPAS instruction can help shape students’ character by fostering environmental awareness from an early age.

Abstract

Vocational High Schools (SMK) continue to experience the highest unemployment rate among all educational levels in Indonesia. According to tracer study data from the Office Management and Business Services (MPLB) Program at SMK PGRI 2 Kediri, 36.6% of graduates were still searching for employment after graduation, indicating that students' work readiness remains insufficient. This study was conducted to examine the influence of self-efficacy on work readiness, with Employability skills serving as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach with an explanatory research design was employed using path analysis. The research involved 82 twelfth-grade MPLB students selected through proportional random sampling. Data were collected using online questionnaires, analyzed with SPSS version 26, and the mediating effect was evaluated through the Sobel test. The results demonstrated that self-efficacy significantly and positively influenced Employability skills (β = 0,681; p < 0,000) as well as work readiness (β = 0,270; p < 0,024). In addition, Employability skills showed a significant positive effect on work readiness (β = 0.431; p < 0.000). The Sobel test yielded a statistical value of 3.384, confirming that Employability skills significantly mediated the relationship between self-efficacy and work readiness. Furthermore, the indirect effect (0.293) exceeded the direct effect (0.270), indicating that stronger Employability skills enhance the contribution of self-efficacy to students work readiness. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening both students self-efficacy and Employability skills to improve their preparedness for entering the workforce.
