Pendas : Jurnah Ilmiah Pendidikan Dasar is a journal published twice a year, namely in June and December that aims to be a forum for scientific publications to pour ideas and studies complemented with the results of research related to primary school education. To achieve this, basic education journals will selectively disseminate ideas and studies complemented by quality research results related to basic education, develop an education center to the elementary-school that can produce innovative, creative and original work and tested in the field of education and learning elementary School to be disseminated and implemented for improving the quality of primary-to-national education at the national, regional and international levels.

The background of this research is the low intensive listening skills of grade 3 students. This study aims to improve the intensive listening skills of third-grade students at SDN 001 Langgini. The research was conducted as a Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was carried out in two cycles, and each cycle consisted of two meetings. The subjects in this research were all 13 students of grade 3.Data collection techniques included observation, documentation, and tests. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used was a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. Based on the results of the research conducted over 2 cycles, in the first meeting of Cycle I, there were 7 students who achieved the minimum completion criteria, with a percentage of 54% and an average score of 72. In the second meeting, the number increased to 8 students or 62%, with an average score of 76. In Cycle II, during the first meeting, 10 students (77%) achieved completion with an average score of 81. This increased in the second meeting to 11 students or 85%, with an average score of 82. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Script Cooperative Learning Model can improve the intensive listening skills of grade 3 students at SDN 001 Langgini.

The background of this research is the low creative thinking ability of class III students. This research aims to improve the creative thinking abilities of class III Salafiyah Ula Ibnu Jarir Bangkinang students. This research is classroom action research carried out in two cycles, each cycle consisting of two meetings. The subjects in this research were 1 teacher and 18 students, while the object of this research was a mind mapping method based on local wisdom to improve elementary school students' creative thinking abilities. The data collection techniques used in this research are observation, tests and documentation. Based on the results of research carried out in 2 cycles, the percentage results obtained in cycle I meeting 1 were 28%, cycle I meeting 2 was 33%, and in cycle II meeting 1 was 44%, cycle II meeting 2 was 72%. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the mind mapping method based on local wisdom can improve the creative thinking abilities of class III Salafiyah Ula Ibnu Jarir Bangkinang students.

This research was motivated by the low Critical Thinking Ability of students in class V of SDN 001 Bangkinang. One solution to overcome this problem is to use the Talking stick Type Cooperative model. This research method is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which is carried out in two cycles consisting of two meetings and four stages, namely implementation planning, observation and reflection. When this research was carried out in October 2024. The subjects of this research were class V students at SDN 001 Bangkinang. Consisting of 12 students, there are 5 male students and 7 female students. Data collection methods use observation techniques and documentation techniques. The research results show that using the Talking stick Type Cooperative learning model can improve students' critical thinking abilities. This is shown by the observation results obtained in each cycle I meeting I from 12 students, it is known that the critical thinking skills of students included in the complete category reached 4 people or 34% and cycle I meeting II there were 5 people or 41%. Then in cycle II, meeting I, there were 7 people or 58% who had completed it and in cycle II, meeting II increased to 10 people or 83%. Through the application of the Talking stick Type Cooperative learning model to improve the critical thinking skills of class V students at SDN 001 Bangkinang.

This research is motivated by the low initial reading skills of students. One of the efforts offered to improve students' initial reading skills is to use Pop up book learning media facilities. This study aims to determine the effect of Pop up book- based learning media on the initial reading skills of students in class 1 Salafiyah Ula Ibnu Jarir. This type of research is a quasi-experimental study with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The data collection techniques for this study were in the form of observation, tests, and documentation. The experimental class was class 1 Banat and the control class was class 1 Banin Salafiyah Ula Ibnu Jarir. The data analysis technique to test the hypothesis used the t-test formula which was preceded by a normality test and homogeneity of variance. The results of this study indicate that the ability to read beginning using Pop up book media is higher than the ability to read beginning using the conventional model. Vocabulary is a fundamental component of language learning and is essential for developing effective communication skills. This study investigates the perceptions of pre-service English teachers regarding the effectiveness of the Gizmo application as a tool for enriching English vocabulary. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected from 10 pre-service teachers in an English education program through the use of questionnaires and structured interviews. The results of the questionnaire were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while the interview data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings reveal four main themes: (1) Gizmo effectively enriches students’ vocabulary by providing exposure to new and contextualized vocabulary, (2) it serves as a medium that fits students' individual learning needs, especially due to its flexibility and personalized vocabulary input, (3) the application offers interactive, fun, and helpful features such as quizzes and repetition that motivate learners, and (4) it increases learners’ interest and confidence in using English vocabulary. Most participants expressed ingness in using Gizmo in their future teaching practices, while one participant felt the app was too basic for advanced learners. The study demonstrates that Gizmo has the potential to be a valuable digital tool in English language teaching, particularly in vocabulary enrichment. These findings are expected to provide valuable insights for educators, teacher trainers, and developers of language learning technologies, particularly in the context of mobile-assisted language learning (MALL).

This study examines the relationship between emotional intelligence and stress management ability among Grade XI students at SMKN 4 Padang in the 2025/2026 academic year. Students in this phase often face increased academic demands, preparation for industrial work practice, and social pressures, which may lead to elevated stress levels if not managed effectively. Emotional intelligence is considered an essential factor that can influence how students cope with such pressures. The research employed a quantitative correlational design with a simple random sampling technique, involving 70 respondents from a total population of 237 students. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire based on established theoretical indicators for both variables, and the validity and reliability of the instruments were confirmed through item analysis and Cronbach’s Alpha (0.813 for emotional intelligence and 0.854 for stress management ability). Data analysis included descriptive statistics, normality and linearity tests, and Pearson’s product-moment correlation using SPSS 24. The findings revealed a significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence and stress management ability (r = 0.608, p < 0.05), with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 36%, indicating that emotional intelligence contributes substantially to students’ ability to manage stress, while the remaining 64% is influenced by other factors. These results suggest that higher emotional intelligence enables students to regulate emotions, maintain composure, and adopt adaptive coping strategies when facing academic and social challenges. Therefore, fostering emotional intelligence could be a key approach to enhancing students’ resilience and overall well-being in the school environment.

The type of research used by the author in this study is quantitative research. The type of quantitative research used by the author is using experimental design. This experimental design consists of two groups, namely the control group and the experimental group. Before learning, both classes were pretested for differences in initial conditions between the control group and the experimental group. This research was carried out at SMPN 12 Pekanbaru. The location of this school is on Jalan Guru Sulaiman No.37, Padang Bulan, Senapelan District, Pekanbaru City, Riau Province. This research plan is to process and report on research results from December 2024 to May 2025. Based on the results of the analysis and research that has been carried out by researchers, it can be concluded that the application of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) learning model has a significant impact on improving the writing skills of official letter writing skills of grade VII students of SMPN 12 Pekanbaru. The conclusion obtained, that before the treatment was given, the pretest results showed that the initial ability of students in writing official letters was still relatively low and moderate. After the implementation of project-based learning, there was a marked increase, especially in the experimental class, which showed an average score increase from 72.5 to 83.5 with the ability category changing from medium to high. These findings are reinforced by the results of the Wilcoxon test and regression test which show a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores, as well as a strong linear relationship between the application of the learning model and student learning outcomes.

This study aims to describe the effective reading speed of non-fiction scientific articles among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 5 Ukui using a descriptive quantitative approach. Data were obtained through reading speed tests and comprehension tests using cognitive aspects of reading literacy. Data analysis was performed using the formula reading speed x reading comprehension, then categorizing the KEM level at the junior high school level. The results of the study indicate that the students' KEM is very high, with an average of 124 kpm, and their reading comprehension is categorized as high, with an average of 67. These findings suggest that although students can read quickly, comprehension still needs to be improved through regular practice and strategies that balance both aspects in learning.

Novita Yulia Nengsih, “The Relationship between Social Support and the Adjustment of Broken Home Students at SMK Negeri 4 Padang, Even Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year”, Undergraduate Thesis, Guidance and Counseling Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Putra Indonesia University "YPTK" Padang. His study aims to determine the relationship between social support and the adjustment of broken home students at SMK Negeri 4 Padang during the even semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. The research employed a quantitative approach with a simple random sampling technique. The sample consisted of 60 students from a total population of 207 students. The instruments used for data analysis were SPSS 24 and Microsoft Excel 2016. Based on the research findings, the calculated t-value was greater than the t-table value, namely 0.218 > 0.254 with a significance level of α = 0.05. Therefore, the hypothesis was accepted, indicating a significant relationship between social support and the adjustment of broken home students in grade 11 at SMK Negeri 4 Padang. The coefficient of determination showed that social support contributed 4% to students' adjustment. This suggests that students who receive high levels of social support tend to be better at managing their personal adjustment.

The investigation’s backdrop is the poor numeracy achievement of the class V students at SD Negeri Lamper Tengah 01 Semarang. The study aims to examine the extent of using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model can enhance numeracy skills of class V students. To achieve this objective, the study employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design, specifically a one-group pretest-posttest model. The exploration population was made up of the class V students at SD Negeri Lamper Tengah 01 Semarang, with a saturated sampling of 28 scholar named using a impregnated slice fashion. The data were normally distributed with a significance value > 0.05, according to the data analysis, which showed that the average pretest score was 43.21 and posttest score was 82.32. The paired sample t-test further revealed a calculated the t-value was 13,16 and the t-table value was 2,052. Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted because the t-value was greater than the t-table. Thefore, it can be said that class V scholars at SD Negeri Lamper Tengah 01 Semarang improved their numeracy skills significantly as a result of using the Problem-Based Learning.
