Abstract

Gender equality within the family has become an important goal in social development. The modern family is a place where decisions are made collectively, responsibilities are shared fairly, and each family member is respected in their diverse roles. This paper discusses how parents involve both boys and girls in the decision-making process, include them in discussions, provide them with the space to make choices, grant them the right to pursue education, and assign equal or unequal household tasks, a concept known in sociological studies as siblings gender. Using survey methods and in-depth interviews, this study involved 87 respondents who met the criteria required for the research. The results indicate that many respondents feel that their families have implemented gender equality. Both boys and girls feel they are treated well and fairly, and decisions are made by mutual agreement. However, some respondents reported being treated unfairly as they were not allowed to pursue education outside their current city, unlike their brothers who could attend college elsewhere. Other positive impacts of gender equality within the family include improved family welfare, harmony in family relationships, and the formation of positive behavioral patterns among family members.

The debate and problem of riba, profit, and fines particular its practices in Sharia Banking among scholars, academics, the public, practitioners, business people, and religious organizations in Indonesia until now still reap a lot of opinions and controversy that affects the level of public trust in Sharia Banking, resulting in less growth in the market share of Sharia Banking compared to conventional banking even though Sharia Banking governance, performance, quality of compliance, image, and goodwill of Sharia Banking have adjusted to Islamic sharia. The research method used in this research is a literature study method that can be focused on the concept of usury, profit, and fines according to Sharia Banking. The results show that usury can be avoided through buying and selling transactions rather than lending and borrowing, but various understandings and information about usury do not necessarily advance the economy and Sharia Banking in Indonesia. The development of Sharia Banking faces various obstacles, including different understandings of usury among scholars, the public, business people, and a lack of encouragement from the government. Although the Sharia Banking system has been adapted to Islamic law, the market share of Sharia Banking in Indonesia is still relatively small, only 7.3% compared to conventional banking which reaches 92.7%. To increase the market share of Sharia Banking, it is necessary to increase public trust and awareness of Sharia Banking.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the direct and indirect influence among variables such as attitudes, subjective norms and behavioral control perceptions on the decision-making of young couples in buying houses based on sharia contracts with interest variables as the intervening variable. This study used a quantitative method used by distributing questionnaires to 250 young couples. This study used a side purposive sampling method. This study applied a a path analysis to examine the direct and indirect influence of independent variables on dependent variables through intervening variables. The results of the study showed that attitudes, subjective norms and perception of behavioral control influenced people’s interests to buy a house using sharia-based contracts. Furthermore, attitudes affect decision-making, while subjective norm variables and behavioral control perceptions do not have a significant effect on decision-making. Nevertheless, interests have a positive and significant effect on decision-making. Based on the results of the path analysis, interests could mediate attitudes, subjective norms and perception of behavior control in making decisions in taking houses based on sharia contracts. The results of this study imply that sharia-based banks in Indonesia need to provide a continuous literacy program toward sharia-based mortgage products to increase customers’ interests so that they know the advantages of using sharia-based banks, especially in terms of house mortgage financing products.

Abstract

This research aims to determine how the effect of Murabahah, Musyarakah, Mudharabah and Qardh financing on profitability at Islamic Commercial Banks for the period 2017-2021. The research method used in this research is quantitative research method. The data collection method was carried out through documentation using secondary data taken from the financial statements of each Islamic commercial bank in 2017-2021. The sampling method used purposive sampling technique with the analysis technique used was multiple linear regression using the SPSS version 26 application. The results showed that none of the Murabahah variables had an effect on profitability. Musyarakah variable has a negative and significant effect on profitability. Meanwhile, Mudharabah and Qardh variables have a positive and significant effect on profitability. The managerial implication is that Murabahah as the type of financing most often used by Islamic banks provides a relatively stable fixed income because it uses the principle of a fixed margin agreed upon in advance. Musharakah involves joint capital participation between the bank and the customer, where the bank gets a share of the profits or bears the losses according to the agreement. The bank acts as the capital owner (shahibul maal) who hands over funds to the business manager (mudharib) and gets a share of the profits.
